“Help~ I don’t want to ride anymore~ Let me down~”
Xia Yue handed a bottle of mineral water to Xia Xi, who was resting on Luo Xinyu’s back because his legs had gone weak, all while sarcastically mimicking something.
That’s right, Xia Yue was imitating the scene where Xia Xi had been yelling and screaming on the carousel earlier.
It was hard to imagine that her big brother, who usually gave off such a strong sense of security, would actually be scared of a little carousel.
Hmph, even Bai Xiaocha wasn’t scared~
“Xia Yue!!!”
“Call me big brother~”
Dang it! If he had known that carousel would be so terrifying, he’d never have gotten on it, even if you beat him to death.
Back then, Xia Xi had been waiting excitedly for the carousel to start.
At first, the spinning and up-and-down motion was really slow, and he’d even felt it wasn’t thrilling enough.
But then, instead of the usual kiddie songs, this creepy, haunting music started playing. As the carousel sped up, faint, ghost-like afterimages would occasionally drift by.
Honestly, none of that was a huge deal. The real problem was the lack of a stirrup to brace his feet. His whole body was held in place by just a single safety strap on the horse’s back, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that he might get flung off at any moment.
On top of that, the body Xia Xi was using—Bai Xiaocha’s—was just too small and light, making him feel like he was floating the whole time. Naturally, fear kicked in.
It also didn’t help that he hardly ever played this kind of thrilling ride.
Unlike him, Xia Yue and Bai Xiaocha went to amusement parks often. They’d ridden pirate ships, pendulum rides, and all sorts of stuff countless times, so of course, they weren’t scared of a little carousel’s floating sensation.
“Alright, stop teasing him.”
Luo Xinyu ate the popcorn Bai Xiaocha brought to her mouth and smiled as she spoke to Xia Yue.
Xia Xi had really had it rough today. Being mocked like that by his own little sister would be too much for anyone.
“Hmph, Xia Cha, let’s go ride that drop tower~”
“Okay, okay.”
Bai Xiaocha didn’t want to play alone, so she decided to go seek some thrills with Xia Yue.
Meanwhile, Luo Xinyu planned to find a bench with Xia Xi, rest a bit, and once Xia Xi felt better, see what else they could do.
Xia Yue and Bai Xiaocha soon disappeared from sight. After finding a bench, Luo Xinyu set Xia Xi down from her back and sat beside him.
“Who would’ve thought you’d be scared of a carousel.”
Luo Xinyu gently patted Xia Xi’s back while thoughtfully handing him a cup of warm water.
She’d asked one of the bodyguards to get the hot water—it was definitely better than cold water in this situation.
“It’s not my fault that horse was so cool.”
Xia Xi sighed. Logically, he shouldn’t be this afraid of floating. It was probably because Bai Xiaocha’s body just didn’t give him enough of a sense of security.
“You idiot.”
Luo Xinyu laughed affectionately.
“Want to grab something to eat first?”
They hadn’t eaten dinner before going out, which was why Bai Xiaocha had been clinging to that bucket of popcorn the whole time.
Hunger can make fear and dizziness worse, which was why Luo Xinyu suggested eating something.
“Sure. I just don’t know what this place has.”
Since the park focused on nighttime hours, there was a dedicated food street so visitors could grab some hot late-night snacks.
That made things convenient for them—otherwise, they’d have to order delivery or bother the bodyguards to go buy food.
“Do you want some lamb skewers?”
Normally, someone who just threw up shouldn’t eat greasy food, but who was Xia Xi? He was a tough guy! He recovered fast!
But more importantly… those skewers smelled way too good!!!
Dang it! Why couldn’t Bai Xiaocha’s body resist the temptation of delicious food?!
With just one look at the food street snacks, Xia Xi’s eyes were practically glued to them. He couldn’t look away.
His mouth kept watering, his already hungry stomach craved food even more, and his little brain couldn’t think about anything else. All he could think was, “I need to eat. I need to eat.”
Xia Xi realized—Bai Xiaocha the foodie had definitely rubbed off on him…
“I don’t want to eat,” Xia Xi said, lying through his teeth.
“Yeah, yeah. I want to eat. I’ll go buy two skewers. If I can’t finish them, you’ll have to help me.”
Luo Xinyu smiled, took Xia Xi to the lamb skewer stall, and bought two.
But after just one bite, she claimed they were too greasy and didn’t want them anymore. In the end, both skewers ended up in Xia Xi’s stomach.
“I feel like you’re saying that on purpose…”
Xia Xi had a nagging feeling that his brain worked slower when food was involved. He wasn’t dumb, but somehow, he hadn’t noticed how deliberate Luo Xinyu’s behavior was.
“You’re overthinking it. I just genuinely didn’t think they tasted good, so I gave you the stuff I didn’t like.”
Luo Xinyu gently rubbed her thumb across the back of Xia Xi’s hand.
“You’re my food trash can now. Are you going to thank me?”
Seeing her smiling so sweetly, Xia Xi inexplicably felt his heartbeat speed up.
Well…
It was the spiciness! That had to be it…
And that kind of thinking led them to buy iced tangyuan (sweet rice balls) as their second snack.
But Luo Xinyu still only bought one serving. Her reason? If they bought too much and got full, they wouldn’t be able to try other foods. So sharing one serving of everything was perfect.
Besides, Xia Xi was in a girl’s body now, and they were already this close—what was wrong with sharing food?
Just like with the lamb skewers, Luo Xinyu left most of the iced tangyuan for Xia Xi.
What could she do? The little glutton’s eager eyes couldn’t hide their craving~
Xia Xi enjoyed the delicious food while complaining that Bai Xiaocha’s body was a pure foodie body.
But being a foodie had its perks—food that tasted just okay in Xia Xi’s original body became something special on Bai Xiaocha’s taste buds.
So that’s why food critics existed. Their taste buds were naturally more sensitive, letting them truly savor flavors and enjoy food better.
Cough, unless it was something like “Nine-Turn Large Intestine”—that was a different story…
The two of them ate and drank their way through the food street for over half an hour before finally reaching the end.
Xia Xi patted his slightly bulging belly, looking totally content.
He hadn’t eaten this satisfyingly in a long time.
Standing beside him, holding her beloved’s hand, Luo Xinyu still wore that doting expression. She reached out her other hand and gently ruffled his hair, like petting a cat~
