“Xiao Cha! Over here~”
The Chinese language exam was finally over, and students were flooding toward the cafeteria. But Xia Xi, who had handed in his paper early, had already been waiting in the cafeteria for a while.
As soon as he spotted that striking blue hair in the crowd, he immediately stood up and waved, signaling for Bai Xiaocha to come over to him.
“Xia Yue?!”
The blue-haired little loli stared at Xia Xi like she’d just seen a ghost.
“What’s up? Why are you so surprised to see me?”
Xia Xi curled a strand of hair by his temple with his index finger, then let it go—curling it again and again, like a playful little kid.
The corner of his mouth lifted slightly. Just thinking about Bai Xiaocha and what he was about to ask her made him want to laugh.
“I took my exam on the first floor, and you took yours on the fourth floor. How on earth did you get here even faster than me?!!”
Just as he expected, the first thing Bai Xiaocha asked was how he managed to beat her to the cafeteria.
Come on now—he was someone with a system. Handing in his paper early and heading to the cafeteria was no big deal, right?
In fact, Xia Xi had already anticipated that Bai Xiaocha would wait until the very last minute of the exam to hand in her paper, and that she’d never turn it in early. So a few minutes before the bell rang, he had already gone to grab two meals. The food was still steaming hot by the time she arrived.
“You… you even had time to get two meals?!!”
Clearly, Bai Xiaocha had just noticed the two hot meals on the table.
Next, Xia Xi watched as this silly little loli plopped herself down right onto his lap, just like she used to do back in the classroom.
She leaned in close, her mouth right next to Xia Xi’s ear.
“Xia Yue, don’t tell me you flew down from the fourth floor?”
This girl was still acting like she was a magical girl. If he could actually fly, he would’ve soared up to the sky and hung out with the sun by now—no way he’d still be sitting here like a good little student.
“Oh, just quit overthinking it. I just handed my paper in early and came to the cafeteria. You really should watch less anime. Look at you—your head’s completely full of magical girl stuff.”
Hearing this, Bai Xiaocha looked totally unconvinced. She climbed off him, then grabbed the table and took a few steps back.
“No way! You’re not the Xia Yue I know anymore! The Xia Yue I know would never tell me to watch less anime!!!”
After her look of disbelief came utter devastation, as if she had just been betrayed in the most cruel and unusual way.
Then she sat down in the seat across from Xia Xi, grabbed the big chicken leg from the tray, and took a big angry bite.
“By the way, why did you decide to hand in your paper early? Didn’t they say this exam was super important? If you didn’t even finish answering all the questions, the homeroom teacher is gonna chew you out.”
Watching Bai Xiaocha’s adorable, chipmunk-cheeked face, Xia Xi couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Who told you I didn’t finish?”
“Do I even need to think about it? I know your level, don’t I?”
With her mouth full of food, Bai Xiaocha’s words came out a little slurred, which somehow made her even cuter.
“Wait… don’t tell me… you actually finished the whole thing?”
She noticed Xia Xi wasn’t saying anything—just smiling at her—and a ridiculous thought suddenly popped into her head.
But how could that be possible?
She’d seen how Xia Yue normally studied. They had fun together all the time, and he barely even looked at his books. There’s no way he’d be at that kind of level.
Then again… there was another possibility. Maybe he really did finish, but just scribbled down random answers. Who knows, maybe even the essay was total nonsense!
“Of course. I finished in sixty minutes. If the teacher hadn’t forced us to wait until the last thirty minutes to hand it in, I would’ve gotten out even earlier.”
Seeing the stunned look on her face, Xia Xi felt pretty pleased with himself. Even the food he just put in his mouth tasted better.
“You definitely guessed your way through it, right?!”
Hearing that he finished the paper in sixty minutes, Bai Xiaocha felt even more certain of her guess.
Xia Yue had to have just filled in random answers! Even the top students couldn’t finish a Chinese exam in sixty minutes!
“Hmph. Can’t believe you’re doubting me.”
Xia Xi reached out with his chopsticks and stole a piece of rib from Bai Xiaocha’s tray.
“I’ll punish you by taking a rib!”
Bai Xiaocha watched helplessly as her food lost a piece of rib. She immediately panicked, reached out with her own chopsticks, and tried to take something from Xia Xi’s tray.
Between Bai Xiaocha and Xia Yue, this kind of food-sharing wasn’t really unusual. Even though this “Xia Yue” was actually Xia Xi in disguise.
“Grrr, don’t block me if you’ve got the guts!”
Distracted by Xia Xi’s teasing, Bai Xiaocha completely forgot about the exam and focused entirely on the food fight.
“I will block you. Come and take it if you can.”
Bai Xiaocha reached out with her chopsticks, and Xia Xi blocked her each time. The two of them looked like martial arts masters from a movie, having an epic showdown over the lunch table.
But in the end, Bai Xiaocha had to admit defeat. She didn’t manage to grab a single thing from Xia Xi.
“I’m ignoring you!”
Bai Xiaocha scooted her tray to the side, shifting her seat so she was no longer directly across from Xia Xi. Then she sat there fuming, shoveling food into her mouth like crazy. Xia Xi couldn’t help but find it hilarious.
She really is such a kid~
“There, there. Here, have a chicken leg.”
The truth was, Xia Xi had already expected her to throw a little tantrum, so when he got the food, he had asked for three chicken legs instead of two.
So now, he could use one to cheer her up.
And Bai Xiaocha was happy to play along. As soon as she heard there was a chicken leg, she immediately scooted back to her original seat.
“Hehe. I knew you were the best, Xia Yue.”
One second she said she was ignoring him, and the next she said he was the best. This silly loli really does change her mood fast~
Inside Luo Xinyu’s House.
Xia Yue stuffed a small cake into her mouth while giving a slightly annoyed look to the woman standing in front of her, who was wearing an apron and had a gentle smile on her face.
“Xinyu Jiejie, can you please not hold me while we sleep? You’re wearing my brother’s skin. It’s really weird.”
That’s right. Xia Yue and An Xiaoyu had been told there was only one big bed in the room, so they all ended up sleeping together under the same blanket.
And to make things worse, Luo Xinyu hadn’t taken off the skin suit that made her look like Xia Xi. She stayed in Xia Xi’s form—and held Xia Yue tightly like a body pillow the entire night.
This was the first time Xia Yue had ever been treated like a hugging pillow. Usually, she was the one holding Bai Xiaocha or An Xiaoyu!
Honestly, that part wasn’t even the problem. After all, Luo Xinyu was their generous benefactor, a kind and beautiful big sister, and maybe even her future sister-in-law.
But the issue was—she didn’t take off the skin suit!!!
The feeling of being held all night by her own dumb brother was just… so, so weird!!!!
