“Ah, so you must be Manager Bai?” Lin Hai grabbed Bai Chi’s hand, nearly yanking him to the ground, but his face still had a fawning smile.
Chen Yan was startled at first, then quickly realized what was happening. She gave Lin Hai a grateful look, then turned a cold, stern glare towards Bai Chi.
“So, you’re the one who wants to discuss supplying materials to the company?” Bai Chi, annoyed at having his fun ruined, naturally wasn’t going to be polite to Lin Hai. He tilted his head up and spoke through his nose.
“That’s right. I hope you’ll look after me, Manager Bai.” Lin Hai said with a smile.
“We already have fixed suppliers. We don’t need your materials. Get lost.” Bai Chi waved his hand impatiently.
Dammit, if it weren’t for you, I’d have already touched that plump butt. And now you want to talk business with me? Dream on.
Chen Yan, standing nearby, opened her mouth as if to speak, but hesitated.
Although she was just a receptionist, she knew that one of the company’s suppliers had recently returned to his hometown because of family issues. The company was currently looking for a new supplier to replace him.
But now Bai Chi wouldn’t even ask a single question and just told Lin Hai to leave. Chen Yan quickly understood – Bai Chi was definitely upset because Lin Hai had helped her just now, and now she was getting caught in the crossfire.
“Manager Bai, the materials I’m offering are different from others. I guarantee they’ll multiply your company’s sales. My this…”
“I told you to get lost! Don’t you understand human language? Scram!” Bai Chi rudely cut Lin Hai off.
“Manager Bai, isn’t our company looking for a supplier right now?” Chen Yan finally couldn’t help but interject.
Bai Chi looked at Chen Yan with surprise.
“What’s a little receptionist like you butting into company matters for? Don’t you want this job anymore? Go do your own job!”
Lin Hai was starting to get angry too.
“Manager Bai, you won’t even hear what material I’m talking about before telling me to leave. Isn’t that being incredibly irresponsible to the company?” Lin Hai said coldly.
“Dammit, who the hell do you think you are? Who are you to lecture me? I’m the manager of this company, Bai Chi! Whether I’m responsible or not is none of your damn business! Now get the hell out!”
“Wait, you… what’s your name again?” Lin Hai was a bit thrown off.
“Your dad’s name is Bai Chi! What about it?” Bai Chi yelled, his eyes wide.
Pfft!
“You really are a ‘white chi’ (sounds like ‘idiot’ in Chinese). What a fitting name. Good on your conscience!” Lin Hai gave Bai Chi a thumbs up, then turned to leave.
Jiangnan City doesn’t just have your one cosmetics company. Big brother here came to your door to deliver a golden opportunity, and you don’t want it? Fine, big brother isn’t going to cater to your nonsense.
“Who are you calling an idiot?” Lin Hai wanted to leave, but Bai Chi wasn’t having it.
“Is there another idiot here besides you?” Lin Hai scoffed.
“F*** your mother! How dare you…”
Smack! Lin Hai stepped forward and slapped him right across the mouth, sending Bai Chi stumbling.
“Shut your filthy hole!”
“You… you hit me?” Bai Chi covered his mouth and started howling.
Smack! Lin Hai slapped him again. “Yeah, I hit you. So what? Don’t like it? Then bite me!”
“You… you… you…” Bai Chi raised his hand, stammering “you” for a long time, but one look at Lin Hai’s fierce glare scared him so much he didn’t dare make a move.
“Security! Security! Where the hell are you all?”
“Chen Yan, you damn vixen, what are you just standing there for like an idiot? Are you dead? Didn’t you see him hit me? Go call security!”
Smack!
“Who are you calling a vixen? Shut your stinking mouth!” Chen Yan slapped Bai Chi right across the face.
Bai Chi was completely dumbfounded.
“Have you lost your mind? You little tramp! How dare you hit me? Believe me, I’ll fire your ass today!”
“You don’t need to fire me. I quit!” Chen Yan ripped the company badge right off her chest and threw it on the ground.
“You…” Bai Chi covered his face and stood there stunned.
Wow! Lin Hai’s eyes lit up. This girl is not only pretty, she’s got quite a personality too.
Just then, with a loud clatter, several security guards ran in holding batons.
“What are you all just standing there for? Are you pigs? This guy dared to hit me! Beat him up!”
Seeing the security guards arrive, Bai Chi got his arrogant attitude back.
The guards looked at each other with disgust, but they had no choice. He was the manager. So they surrounded Lin Hai.
“Friend, this isn’t the place to cause trouble. If you know what’s good for you, get out of here now,” the lead guard said, giving Lin Hai a meaningful glance.
Lin Hai was startled, then understood.
Damn, this pathetic excuse for a Manager Bai really is unpopular in the company. Even the guards aren’t on his side.
“Dammit, are you deaf? Who said anything about letting him leave? I told you to beat him up!”
“Beat up your mama!” Lin Hai flashed over and was in front of Bai Chi again.
He raised his hand, smack, another slap, sending Bai Chi straight to the floor.
“Dammit, you dare tell people to beat up your big brother? Let big brother beat you into a pig’s head first!” Lin Hai pounced on him and started landing punches and kicks.
Bai Chi immediately started howling like a ghost and crying like a wolf.
The guards exchanged glances and walked over.
“Dammit, stop!”
“Hey, cut it out!”
“You wanna die? Let go of our manager!”
The guards shouted fiercely, but their hands just pretended to pull Lin Hai back a little, not using any real strength. One short guy even snuck in a couple of extra kicks himself.
“Ptooey!” After beating him soundly, Lin Hai spat on Bai Chi and finally stopped.
“Your name is Chen Yan, right?” Lin Hai turned and asked.
“Yes, Mr. Lin.” Chen Yan nodded, giving a very sunny smile.
Surprisingly, losing her job made Chen Yan feel relieved. She wouldn’t have to be harassed by that bastard Bai Chi anymore.
“Since you quit, come with me.” Lin Hai glanced at Bai Chi, then at the security guards, and said.
Chen Yan was smart and immediately understood Lin Hai’s intention.
She had hit Bai Chi too, after all. Lin Hai was worried that Bai Chi would give her a hard time after he left.
“Thank you, Mr. Lin.” Chen Yan smiled and nodded at Lin Hai, then stood behind him.
“Dammit, you think you can just hit me and leave?” Bai Chi struggled to his feet.
“Hey, you security guards! Are you eating shit? Grab him, dammit! Take him to the police station! I’m going to sue him for assault!”
The security guards looked at each other. Not one of them moved.
“F***! The company feeds you for nothing! If you don’t grab him right now, I’ll fire every single one of you today!” Bai Chi pointed at the guards and screamed.
The lead guard frowned, and gave Lin Hai an apologetic look.
“Sir, we have families to feed. We need these jobs to support them. Sorry about this.”
After saying that, the lead guard signaled to the other guards.
They moved forward, weakly waving their fists and charging at Lin Hai.
“Haha, brothers, it’s your job. Don’t feel bad about it. Come on,” Lin Hai said. He came from a poor background himself and didn’t want to make things hard for these guards who actually seemed to have some sense of justice.
He flashed his body, gently pushed one guard aside, and appeared in front of Bai Chi again.
“Dammit, you deserve a beating. Isn’t your name Bai Chi? If big brother here doesn’t turn you into a real ‘bai chi’ (idiot) today, then your name is a real waste.” Lin Hai said, raising his hand and delivering smack, smack, smack several more slaps, then kicked Bai Chi, sending him flying.
“Ow!” Bai Chi let out a miserable shriek, crashed to the ground, and couldn’t move.
By that time, the guards had reached him.
Lin Hai moved his hands and feet, using just a little bit of force to gently knock all the guards to the ground.
The guards were shrewd too. They weren’t actually hurt at all, but they lay on the ground, groaning nonstop.
Lin Hai dusted off his hands and started to walk out.
“Causing trouble on Ye family turf, and you still think you can leave.” Suddenly, a low, deep voice rang out, followed by a gust of wind right in front of Lin Hai’s face.
“Whoa! A pro!” Lin Hai’s pupils suddenly contracted.
