“Fallacy! Heresy!”
“What big bang, what expansion? Impossible! Absolutely impossible!”
The researchers’ bodies tensed up, and their breathing became rapid and heavy, like angry beasts about to pounce on their prey.
They banged on the wall, wishing they could rush inside, grab Britz by the neck, and make him admit that he was lying.
Before the prehistoric civilization and the great crisis of world destruction were exposed, the scientific community generally recognized two views on the birth of the universe.
One was called the holographic universe theory.
The core idea of this hypothesis was that all information in the three-dimensional universe humans inhabit could be encoded on a two-dimensional boundary, like a hologram.
The three-dimensional reality we perceive might only be a projection of a two-dimensional surface.
The second theory was string theory.
This theory attempted to unify all fundamental forces and particles, arguing that the basic units of matter were not point-like particles, but tiny vibrating strings. Different vibration modes corresponded to different particles.
M-string theory proposed a mother theory with 11 dimensions, suggesting that humanity’s universe might be only one of countless membranes floating in a higher-dimensional bulk.
String theory was the doctrine with the most supporters.
This was because after humans discovered mental power, they felt that mental power and the third dimension they inhabited did not seem to belong to the same dimension.
Some scientists believed that mental power could affect tiny vibrating strings, and that was why it could affect physique.
After the prehistoric civilization and the great crisis of world destruction broke out, some scientists proposed a brand-new hypothesis: the simulated universe hypothesis.
This hypothesis also gained the support of many ordinary people, and even Awakened ones.
The simulated universe hypothesis held that humanity’s universe, including humanity itself, might be a computer simulation program run by a highly advanced civilization.
The Holy Monument was an important piece of program code. The Sui Star civilization, the Ola people, and other extraterrestrial civilizations were segments of viruses.
Extraterrestrial civilizations might also be monsters newly edited by this higher civilization, with the purpose of increasing the difficulty for human civilization.
Or perhaps they were spies sent by several other advanced civilizations, trying to interfere with the experimental process of the civilization set up for the experiment.
When Lin Xiaohe saw how the researchers looked as if they wanted to devour someone, he had them choose a representative to come in and question Britz face to face.
Chermu was the highly respected person everyone selected.
The first thing he asked when he came in was: “Britz, how do you prove that your hypothesis is correct?”
Britz was slightly stunned, as if he did not understand why the other party wanted him to explain such a basic question.
But the people before him were the first alien civilization he had ever met, and Britz very much wanted to communicate with them.
“The big bang theory is the most widely accepted model in the scientific community, and it is supported by a large amount of observational evidence. It does not refer to an explosion happening in space, but to the simultaneous birth and expansion of space itself and time.”
Chermu endured it. He nearly bit his gums until they bled before he suppressed the urge to throw a punch: “Continue.”
Britz: “We believe the universe originated from a singularity with infinite density and temperature. Beginning about 13.8 billion years ago, space rapidly expanded and cooled, and matter and energy also formed and evolved accordingly.”
“Heh.” Chermu’s face was expressionless.
He was certain now. Whatever hypothesis Britz was talking about was not right at all!
Britz definitely did not know that he was currently inside the singularity of an enormous black hole.
This singularity had an incomparably glorious and brilliant civilization.
He knew nothing about the singularity!
Chermu curled the corners of his mouth, his eyes cold, and quietly watched Britz, like a clown, speaking that laughable hypothesis about the universe.
Britz keenly sensed the other party’s malice. After hesitating for a moment, he weakly asked: “Do you have any objections?”
Is it an objection to the theory, or an objection to me personally?
Chermu could no longer hold it in. He jumped up and cursed angrily: “The universe was not created by a big bang at all!”
He spoke eloquently, dumping both mainstream theories on Britz all at once.
Britz was stunned as he listened. It took him great effort to absorb these two theories, and then he felt like he was about to explode.
“How can you have such ridiculous hypotheses? Haha, really funny. If your theory is correct, then tell me, why does the spacecraft remain motionless in space, while time is accelerating?”
“Nonsense. Have you even been to space? Who told you time is accelerating?”
Britz felt insulted: “You cannot just deny the truth that exists in the universe because our Shadow Star civilization is not high-level.”
“We navigate the universe as if it were child’s play. How could we not know what time in the universe is actually like?!”
The two argued fiercely.
Lao San could not be bothered to translate anymore and just let the two use their own languages, talking past each other like a chicken and a duck.
Anyway, from their exaggerated body movements, one could tell that they were not having a pleasant conversation.
Lin Xiaohe scratched his head, wanting to go persuade them, but also feeling that it was not appropriate for him to interfere in the affairs of scientists.
“Lao San, is the outside world really like what Britz said?”
Lao San: “Probably? We are not a technological civilization, so we do not really understand this.”
Who cared how the universe was born, or whether time inside and outside the spacecraft was consistent? What did these things have to do with their Sui Star civilization? If they figured out so many questions, would it make them individually stronger?
“Lord Sovereign, which theory do you lean toward?” Lao San asked gossipily.
Lin Xiaohe choked.
His education on Blue Star had taught him about the big bang.
But whether Blue Star was in this universe, Lin Xiaohe was not sure!
When Lao San saw that Lin Xiaohe’s expression was not very good, he thought he had inadvertently touched one of her reverse scales, and quickly continued acting as translator.
With his involvement, Chermu and Britz argued even more heatedly.
The more they argued, the more they discovered that many theories, especially in physics, differed between the two sides. Some differences were as far apart as north and south.
Quite a few researchers rolled up their sleeves and were about to go up and fight!
Lin Xiaohe understood the dominance scientists had in their own fields of research, but she did not understand what kind of impact such differences would have.
“Sigh.” Richards, with his head of white hair, let out a long sigh. “If the gap between the inside and outside is really that huge, it is a very terrifying thing. It would make us doubt whether we truly exist.”
“If the universe we observe is wrong, then who used a pair of invisible hands to cover so many of our observing eyes? Who is modifying our experimental data again and again?”
“I am not afraid of you laughing at me. I now believe more and more in the simulated universe hypothesis.”
Lin Xiaohe patted his shoulder and comforted him: “What is so difficult about this? We can just go out and take a look, right?”
“Go out and take a look?”
“Yes! Avoid the great crisis of world destruction, break through the cage, and go see the star domains and civilizations outside. Do you believe me?”
“I believe you! You are the strongest in the universe, the hope of the 7th Era civilization. If I do not believe you, who else can I believe?!”
