This was a lifeless planet. Though it had an atmosphere, it was dull and gloomy, and everywhere you looked, devastation reigned.
Lin Xiaohe’s heart skipped a beat. Her impeccable memory allowed her to recognize this planet—it was the famous resort destination, Exx Star.
She recalled how the Lin family had once dreamed that after curing Father Lin, Big Brother Lin, and Lin Jingqiu’s illnesses, they would all take a family trip to Exx Star for vacation.
Big Brother Lin had been full of anticipation for this trip. He had researched all kinds of materials early on and would chatter in Lin Xiaohe’s ear whenever he had free time, sharing videos and beautiful scenic pictures.
But the scene before her eyes was a far cry from the beautiful planet in those videos.
As Lin Xiaohe flew closer, she saw towering mountains stretching endlessly into the distance—a spectacular sight.
But Lin Xiaohe’s eyesight was too sharp. She recognized at a glance that those weren’t mountains at all, but mountains of corpses, piled high from countless bodies!
Some of these corpse mountains were already bleached bones, layer upon layer compressed together, with the skeletons at the bottom reduced to powder.
Others appeared to be newly formed, the bodies frozen within the mountain, their facial expressions vivid and lifelike.
Not a trace of terror—all were peaceful.
Lin Xiaohe’s heart kept sinking.
The situation in the First Star Ring was even worse than she had anticipated.
She continued flying downward, sweeping over the peaks. When she saw another mountain range, she gasped sharply.
It was entirely made up of the bodies of infants—a continuous, serpentine mountain range stretching like a giant snake.
Lin Xiaohe descended from the sky and stood before these infant bodies, her expression taut, her dark eyes harboring turbulent storms beneath the surface.
These infants ranged in age—some were three or four years old, others newborns.
Lin Xiaohe even spotted several fetuses no bigger than a palm, not yet fully formed.
The surrounding mountains of corpses pressed down on her like Mount Tai, nearly suffocating her.
The planet’s winds were fiercer than before, kicking up dust and making the already dim atmosphere even more somber.
An overwhelming sense of sorrow permeated the entire planet.
Though she could no longer be considered human, seeing such brutality still ignited a blazing fury within her.
Without a doubt, this was Anidam’s doing!
But why?!
The humans in the First Star Ring all worshipped Anidam, revering him as a god.
Why would he do this? Piling human bodies into mountains—was this some peculiar hobby of his?
Lin Xiaohe’s teeth ground together audibly, and it was as if two fiery dragons were about to burst from her eyes.
She unleashed her spiritual power, scanning the entire planet.
She would count exactly how much slaughter Anidam had wrought on Exx Star!
Ripples of spiritual energy, tinged with restrained anger, spread outward across Exx Star in wave after wave.
Was there anyone still alive?
Was there anyone left breathing?
Her spiritual power suddenly halted.
Lin Xiaohe teleported instantly to a corpse mountain with an especially thick layer of ice.
She stared intently at the face at the summit—the one that stood out with particular ferocity.
He was the only one whose face bore anger, whose expression, even across the boundary between life and death, radiated defiance!
He was also someone Lin Xiaohe knew.
Lowering her gaze, Lin Xiaohe spoke as if chatting with him normally: “You’re not working at the Outlets Hotel—what are you doing here? Didn’t you say you wanted to pass on the spark of the Star Grain Party on Vitaria Star? Can even that spark not melt the ice on your body?”
As if brushing away dust, Lin Xiaohe swept aside the half-meter-thick layer of ice.
Without the ice holding it in place, the body of the Outlets Hotel lobby manager—like loose rocks on a mountainside—was about to tumble down.
A gentle force caught his body and lowered it slowly to the ground.
Lin Xiaohe landed as well: “Missing an arm and a leg, with forty-two wounds on your body, the worst being that gaping hole through your heart. You must have suffered terribly before death. Sigh. We met several times, and I only ever called you ‘Manager’—I still don’t even know your name.”
How old were you? Where were you from? Did you have family? Any last wishes?
She knew none of it.
“I really am not a qualified party leader.”
Any competent homeroom teacher could name every student in their class, even remember each one’s birthday and family situation.
Yet she didn’t even know this warrior’s name.
“The flames will grant you peace. Your ashes will drift across the First Star Ring and bear witness to the fate of the one responsible.”
Lin Xiaohe switched to her Zerg mode.
The Great Tomb in her Holy Domain activated, immediately producing fifty Flame Spitters. Under Xiao Hei’s personal escort, they were sent through the fourth dimension to Exx Star.
The fifty Flame Spitters aimed at each corpse mountain and launched fireballs one after another.
The mountains of corpses began to incinerate, thick columns of smoke rising into the heavens. Dark clouds gathered, shrouding the sky as if day and night had ceased to exist.
The entire planet resembled the eighteenth level of hell, the air thick with the stench of scorched flesh.
The blazing flames and rising smoke seemed to have a will of their own, all avoiding Lin Xiaohe.
Hm?
As her spiritual ripples continued to spread, she detected signs of life deep underground.
It was an extremely deep fissure—like a hideous scar carved into Exx Star.
Before, this had been a long, narrow inland lake, beloved by diving enthusiasts.
But now that the water had dried up, with no lake or aquatic plants to adorn it, the barren crack looked especially eerie.
Without hesitation, Lin Xiaohe jumped down, heading straight for the glimmer of life.
In almost an instant, she reached her destination.
It was a stunted plant, its leaves withered and yellow, its branches thin and short. But its dense, fine white roots clung tenaciously to the cliff wall.
Between the roots and the wall, half a person was strapped.
“Little Bean…”
Lin Xiaohe’s eyes grew moist. Her trembling hand gently touched the yellowed leaves.
Then she lowered her hand in disappointment, her whole body shrouded in sorrow and longing: “It’s not Little Bean—it’s Little Bean’s descendant.”
Immersed in grief, she didn’t notice that the half-person, who looked like a bloody mess, had painfully opened his eyes upon hearing her voice.
“Party… Party leader…”
His lips moved, producing a barely audible sound, but his eyes shone as bright as the stars in the night sky.
Lin Xiaohe looked up in shock at the half-person trapped between the roots and the wall.
He had been severed almost at the waist, leaving only his upper half. His intestines spilled out, hanging in the air, his breath faint.
Lin Xiaohe suddenly realized—this pea plant was protecting this person.
She looked closer and realized it was yet another acquaintance: “Chen Kuan?!”
Chen Kuan wanted to cry, but his tears had long run dry: “Conspiracy…”
Lin Xiaohe flew over quickly, pulled out the restorative potion that her second sister had insisted on giving her, and poured it into Chen Kuan’s mouth: “Don’t talk yet—drink this!”
The green liquid flowed down Chen Kuan’s throat, into his stomach, and then dripped back out.
Half of his stomach was gone too…
Chen Kuan’s complexion rapidly faded. His overwhelming unwillingness almost made it impossible for him to die in peace!
The lobby manager had fought with his life to carve out this sliver of hope, all so Chen Kuan could deliver vital information to the party leader!
He couldn’t accept it!
Wide-eyed, he mustered his final strength and opened his mouth: “Rong…”
What a bolt from the blue!!
