Above the Sea Song Star sector, chaos erupted aboard the Federation’s exclusive shuttle.
“Reporting to the Marshal! A powerful energy fluctuation has just been detected on Sea Song Star!”
“Reporting to the Marshal! The Sacred Warriors have awakened!”
Chu Huaizhi shot to his feet. His usually calm, almost divine face was filled with surprise and delight.
When people first descend, their souls are unstable—but that’s also when their psychic energy is at its strongest!
Chu Huaizhi rushed toward the lower deck without a moment’s hesitation.
Lin Xiaohe truly lived up to her reputation as the youngest fated one. She was remarkably capable.
In such a short time, she had already traversed the Sacred Monument and awakened the five great civilizations!
The corners of Chu Huaizhi’s mouth nearly stretched to the back of his head. He let out a muffled laugh, his chest vibrating heavily, a dark glint flashing deep in his eyes.
But that delight only lasted until he opened the hatch.
The smile still clung to his face, but his eyes were as cold as ice. The words that came out were practically forced through gritted teeth: “Why are there only 100 people?”
And these 100 people are all without…
This was not what he wanted!!
His question left the surrounding Federation soldiers completely baffled.
Huh?!
How many people awakened wasn’t something they had any control over.
Nick, serving as a key logistics officer, lowered his eyes and mimicked the shocked expressions of his comrades, but his own confusion deepened.
These awakened Sacred Warriors all had psychic power surpassing 3S level, and that immense psychic force was continuously nourishing their physical bodies.
Their physiques went from 2S to 3S, then surpassed 3S—and were still climbing.
Over 100 warriors of such terrifying strength, and Marshal Chu still wasn’t satisfied.
Why?
What did he want?!
“Reporting to the Marshal! An anomaly is occurring on Sea Song Star!” The reporting soldier’s voice carried an involuntary tremor, as if terrified.
Chu Huaizhi drew a deep breath, calmed himself, and looked to see what new trouble was brewing on Sea Song Star.
He saw an enormous Stardust Great Sound Whale burst from the ocean, flying upward without pause—out of the sea, out of the atmosphere, into space.
It let out an enraged whale song, and everyone heard a furious roar of accusation echoing in their psychic seas.
“Chu Huaizhi, is this your doing, you despicable human?! You were the one who proposed cooperation, yet you ended up scheming against Lin Xiaohe! Do you have any humanity left?!”
Chu Huaizhi’s expression changed dramatically.
Yes, he had schemed against Lin Xiaohe, but that scheme was not this scheme!
And he had reason to suspect that Lin Xiaohe had schemed against him too!
Just as the human and the whale were about to start trading insults, an even greater anomaly occurred.
The entire Sea Song Star began trembling violently, as if stricken with a severe seizure.
The oceans boiled, volcanoes erupted.
It was as if a high-frequency vibration emanated from deep within the planet’s core, spreading relentlessly outward.
It treated all matter as if it didn’t exist and could even propagate through the vacuum of space.
“Ahh!” The Federation soldiers, along with the star pirates watching from a distance not far away, all clutched their heads and collapsed to their knees, writhing and rolling in agony.
The Great Sound Whale elder fled madly toward the far distance in terror, as if he had heard a death knell.
“Turn around! Move, now!” Chu Huaizhi gave the decisive order.
But the vast majority of the Federation soldiers had already lost the ability to act and couldn’t pilot the ship. Chu Huaizhi shoved the pilot out of the cockpit seat, intending to activate auto-cruise mode.
“System error! System error!”
Gritting his teeth, Chu Huaizhi’s two hands transformed into over a dozen vines. He switched to manual piloting mode, tailing closely behind the Great Sound Whale elder.
The star pirate ships that had stayed in place, under the onslaught of that sound, swelled up and burst apart as the pressure became too much.
The sound seemed to last an eternity, yet also seemed to end in an instant.
The entire universe fell silent for a moment—then came a creepy, grating, groaning noise, like something was trying to bore its way out.
The Great Sound Whale elder and Chu Huaizhi both spared a glance backward, and their hearts nearly shattered from terror.
The Sacred Monument had shuddered. Sea Song Star’s vast ocean had formed a colossal whirlpool.
This whirlpool climbed upward from the surface of Sea Song Star, following the flight path of the Great Sound Whale elder, rising higher and higher until it breached the atmosphere and formed an ice pillar in outer space.
And this ice pillar was still growing upward.
“What the hell! This defies science!” Nick felt his entire worldview cracking apart.
Everything he was witnessing overturned everything he had believed in the first half of his life.
The anomaly wasn’t over yet.
At the bottom of the oceanic whirlpool, the form of the Sacred Monument emerged.
It too was growing upward—slowly, but with an unstoppable force.
It grew and stretched at a constant, unchanging speed.
Sea Song Star’s core was compressed, then compressed further, until it became the base of the Sacred Monument.
When everything finally came to an end, Sea Song Star had vanished completely.
In its place floated a pitch-black Sacred Monument, a ring of ice encircling its midsection.
The Great Sound Whale elder stared at this scene, utterly dumbstruck, and murmured under his breath: “Lin Xiaohe actually guessed right. The Sacred Monument isn’t a tablet—it’s a mountain!”
Chu Huaizhi retracted his vines, and they reformed into two hands.
A green light swept from the cockpit to the stern of the ship. The Federation soldiers’ minds wavered, and they completely forgot the shock they had felt upon seeing the Marshal’s transformation.
That segment of the surveillance footage was also erased.
Nick felt his heart, liver, spleen, and lungs all trembling with fear. No longer caring if he might blow his cover, he couldn’t help but ask: “Marshal, what is that?”
Marshal Chu gazed somberly at the Sacred Monument.
It floated in space, as if it had stood there since time immemorial.
It was also the root cause of their tragedy.
“A clarion call to war.”
Nick asked, “What war? Our war against the Zerg?”
“No. A free-for-all battle royale.”
The questions inside Nick were practically drowning him, but Chu Huaizhi was not nearly so kind as to provide him with answers.
The Sacred Monument had revealed itself. All the lurking phantoms and demons hiding in every corner should be coming out now, right?
Fine. The key was right there. Let the most capable claim it.
…
On Nine States Star, piercing alarms blared throughout the Life Safety Center.
“Holy crap! Elder Lin and Madam Lin’s psychic power readings are off the charts!!”
Old Black’s eyes bulged wide as copper bells. The psychic power detector had just received its latest upgrade.
Previously, 3S was equivalent to Level 6. The higher the number, the higher the level.
Elder Lin and Madam Lin’s levels had already reached Level 10, and they were still climbing—finally stopping at Level 11!
Absolutely insane!
Wesley was only Level 7, and Lin Meimei was Level 8!
Lin Xiaohe’s mother, a Descended One herself, was only Level 9.
Good god, what civilization had Elder Lin and Madam Lin awakened from? This was beyond incredible.
Lin Xiaohe’s father felt his heart pounding with panic, huddling together with Lin Jingqiu and Lin Chiyang.
His wife was no longer his wife… and now, were his parents no longer his parents either?!
Wesley stared at the two slumbering figures, as if facing a formidable enemy.
These two were probably capable of smashing Nine States Star to smithereens.
Lin Xiaohe’s mother, who had stayed obediently inside the Life Safety Center the entire time, poked her head around, brimming with curiosity about the two newly awakened.
The air seemed to freeze, leaving only the insistent beeping of the alarm.
Nine States Star’s Stardust Guard Corps surrounded the Life Safety Center completely, fully prepared for combat.
At the most tense moment, Elder Lin and Madam Lin abruptly opened their eyes.
What kind of look was that in their eyes? It was filled with the sheer, unyielding resolve to fight to the death together!
Lin Xiaohe’s father’s heart let out a crack—and shattered.
