Hearing this, Bai Yuling felt that Si Yexing made a lot of sense, so she stopped being so surprised. After forcing herself to calm down, she quickly began directing the personnel from the Supernatural Affairs Bureau, preparing to face the formidable enemy emerging from the hotel.
“Are you people from the Windbreak City Supernatural Affairs Bureau?”
Walking out of the hotel’s main entrance, Granny Viktor looked at the Bureau members blocking the way ahead. Without a trace of fear on her face, she calmly posed this question to them.
Hearing Granny Viktor’s inquiry and knowing full well that this old woman was not as simple as she appeared, the Bureau members didn’t bother to respond. Instead, they simply pointed their various weapons at her, ready to launch an attack at any moment.
“Why is no one answering this old lady’s question? Do you all find me that terrifying?”
Seeing that none of the Bureau members were willing to reply to her and that every single one of them had their weapons trained on her, Granny Viktor felt she wasn’t being given the respect she deserved. Growing a bit impatient, she questioned the Bureau members again.
The captain, who was responsible for leading his team to block the hotel entrance and stop any supernatural criminals attempting to flee, hesitated for a moment after hearing Granny Viktor’s words. Then, he answered her.
“Ma’am, if we were only judging by your appearance, we at the Bureau normally wouldn’t be afraid of you. But knowing that you are Viktor the Shepherd, the vice president of the Spirit Association, we have no choice but to treat you with this kind of attitude.”
Upon hearing the captain’s reply, a look of understanding immediately spread across Granny Viktor’s face. Without the previous impatience, she said, “So you already know who I am. No wonder you’re treating me this way.”
She paused briefly, then continued, “But since you know my identity, why do you still have the nerve to stand in my way, even blocking the path for me and my association members to leave this place?”
Hearing this and feeling the oppressive aura now emanating from Granny Viktor, the captain—who was merely an ordinary one-star supernatural being—couldn’t help but feel his legs tremble slightly.
Yet, thinking of his duty, his family, and the millions of ordinary citizens living in Windbreak City, the captain ultimately forced himself to stay calm. He looked steadfastly at Granny Viktor standing not far away and said, “Because what you and your people plan to do next will surely endanger the residents of this entire city. That’s why I, along with my colleagues here, must stop you and your associates, arrest all of you, and send you to the Bureau’s underground prison to await legal judgment.”
“Arrest us? Young man, you certainly talk big. Well then, let me see whether you and your so-called colleagues actually have what it takes.”
With those words, Granny Viktor did not hesitate to unleash her supernatural power, summoning several powerful spirits radiating intense supernatural energy fluctuations. They lunged directly at the Bureau members.
Watching the overwhelmingly powerful spirits charging toward them, the Bureau members, though not seeing such beings for the first time, knew in their hearts that with their own strength alone, they simply couldn’t destroy these supernatural entities immune to physical attacks.
But luckily, in this encirclement operation organized by the Bureau today, there was someone who could easily deal with these formidable spirits.
“Stop!”
With a loud shout from afar, Si Yexing—who had rushed to the hotel entrance the moment she sensed the supernatural criminals inside were about to break through the Bureau’s blockade—did not hesitate at all. She instantly summoned her Death Scythe and, with a few swift motions, wiped out the entire swarm of oncoming spirits completely.
Seeing a supernatural being dressed rather uniquely appear before her—wearing a black cloak on the outside and a purple Lolita dress underneath—Granny Viktor was somewhat surprised that she could destroy spirits equivalent to two-star supernatural beings. Yet, Granny Viktor showed no sign of panic. After all, she was Viktor the Shepherd, the vice president of the Spirit Association.
“Who are you?” Granny Viktor looked at Si Yexing, a bit curious.
“I am the Grim Reaper who harvests the souls of sinners and sends them to hell for judgment. My name in the human world is Si Yexing.”
Brandishing the Death Scythe in her hand, Si Yexing spoke in an extremely dramatic, over-the-top tone, striking a pose she thought looked very cool.
“Si Yexing? Are you a member of the Supernatural Affairs Bureau?”
Ignoring Si Yexing’s dramatic speech and her posturing, Granny Viktor, who actually found her rather adorable, suddenly recalled something. She then asked Si Yexing.
Faced with the question, Si Yexing quickly shook her head and answered, “I am not a member of that organization established by mere mortals, the Bureau. I am the sixth member of the Free Life Association.”
“The Free Life Association? So you’re a member of the supernatural organization Maka mentioned. No wonder Maka repeatedly emphasized your threat in her reports. Meeting you today, you indeed are worthy of that description.”
Hearing Si Yexing’s self-introduction and learning that she was not a member of the Windbreak City Bureau, Granny Viktor, who had been slightly worried before, immediately showed a relieved expression on her face. She then said this to Si Yexing.
“Since you already know how formidable the organization this Reaper belongs to is, I advise you and the two Spirit Association members behind you to surrender quickly. Otherwise, once we start fighting, I can’t guarantee that you and the two people behind you won’t end up missing some limbs.”
Not letting Granny Viktor’s praise go to her head, Si Yexing brandished her Death Scythe, urging her and the two behind her—Maka and Hua Yiya—to give up.
Hearing Si Yexing’s words, Granny Viktor merely smiled. Meanwhile, Maka and Hua Yiya, standing behind her, exchanged a glance and looked at Si Yexing as if she were an idiot. They knew all too well just how formidable Granny Viktor’s strength was as a peak three-star supernatural being.
“Little girl, I’ve never been in the habit of surrendering. If possible, I hope you and your organization’s members can leave this place as soon as possible.”
“Granny, what do you mean by that? Are you saying you’re so strong that you think you can defeat this Reaper?”
