Inside the military factory.
Jiang Chuan put down the satellite phone and rubbed his chin, pondering the other party’s request.
Him, deliver the goods personally?
That wasn’t really suspicious—just a minor issue, nothing major.
After all, the arms trade was a small circle. There were only so many organizations in the entire underworld. Meeting each other was normal enough. Who knows—after meeting, maybe the two sides could even help each other out. If trouble ever came up in the future, they could call in a favor.
Besides, after these two transactions, Jiang Chuan had roughly figured out the other party’s identity.
They were most likely some kind of middleman between arms dealers and international organizations—buying equipment from dealers, marking up the price, and reselling it to those organizations for profit.
That was Jiang Chuan’s analysis. As for whether they were some underground organization—their tone didn’t sound like it, and based on the intel Task Force 141 had fed back, they didn’t seem like any major group either.
Jiang Chuan didn’t think too much about it—he couldn’t be bothered. Selling arms was selling arms; he’d sell to anyone.
Of course, he knew very well he couldn’t sell weapons to Kyushu or any other official forces.
Selling to these middlemen was no problem. He was just a military factory supplying arms—who these middlemen sold to and what those weapons were used for was none of his concern.
Legally, that wasn’t a crime. But if he sold weapons to Kyushu officials—that would be a clear-cut crime.
So on this point, he was extremely cautious—you could even say vigilant to the extreme.
And after this transaction was settled, his doubts had been dispelled.
“Based on the materials currently in the factory, producing those shells and mortar barrels shouldn’t be a problem. In that case, the first batch of mortars produced will all be sold to them.
As for the Smaha Organization… hmm, the gas cylinder and steel pipe combo suits them better. It’s necessary to discuss this with General Brandy.”
“Now I just wait for that batch of steel pipes and gas cylinders to arrive at the factory, modify them, and shoot a video to send to Brandy. I’m sure Brandy will jump for joy when he sees it.”
Jiang Chuan murmured to himself as he thought.
…
Time flew by like a white horse galloping past.
Ten days later.
“Boss, we’ve brought back the first batch of materials—all of them.” Shepherd stood in the office, raised his hand in a salute, his expression respectful and his eyes full of deference.
Jiang Chuan immediately stood up and nodded firmly. “Let’s go—take me to see them, quick.”
The materials Shepherd mentioned were, of course, the batch of gas cylinders and steel pipes. These were things Jiang Chuan had been longing for—what he most wanted to see right now.
Mainly because, in his memory, this stuff was devastatingly lethal. Just a small gas cylinder, modified and given the massive propulsion of a steel pipe, could reach an astonishing range of ten kilometers!
Ten kilometers—that was already better than some ordinary rocket launchers and mortars.
Most importantly, this stuff was cheap! And plentiful, easy to produce.
As long as this business could last long-term, it would actually make more money than Jiang Chuan selling specialized military weapons.
He rose and followed Shepherd outside the military factory.
The first thing he saw was two trucks parked right at the factory entrance.
He turned his head and looked at the mountain road behind the trucks, staring at the Task Force 141 members in confusion.
It was hard to imagine how these people had managed to drive those two trucks all the way to the factory entrance—it was simply incredible.
But Task Force 141 always found a way.
“Boss Jiang, what’s this?” Wang Mingyuan walked over, a puzzled look on his face.
Jiang Chuan clasped his hands behind his back and said with great anticipation, “This? This is our military factory’s secret weapon. Whether we can make more money in the early stages depends entirely on this.”
Wang Mingyuan was baffled, but he felt that whatever was in those trucks might really be a secret weapon, just as Boss Jiang said.
However, when the trucks were opened and he saw what was inside, he was stunned.
“Boss Jiang, this—this—gas cylinders and steel pipes? This is the secret weapon you mentioned?” Wang Mingyuan asked in astonishment.
Jiang Chuan nodded. “Of course. This is the secret weapon I’m talking about—one that can rival a mortar!”
“What? A gas cylinder plus a steel pipe can rival a mortar? I mean, the principle might be similar, but there’s still a huge gap. Can this really work?” Wang Mingyuan asked, sounding uncertain.
After all, the military factory had just gotten started, and many things weren’t easy to do.
Especially with this materials crisis they’d run into—the factory’s production materials weren’t exactly abundant and couldn’t support such a large production volume.
And now, instead of figuring out where to buy materials to complete Smaha’s mortar order as soon as possible, Boss Jiang had brought in a batch of gas cylinders and steel pipes.
From the look of it, it seemed he intended to use gas cylinders and steel pipes to replace Smaha’s mortar order?
How could that be? These were completely different things!
Most importantly, the Smaha Organization wanted mortars. If Boss Jiang delivered gas cylinders and steel pipes, it would look like outright fraud.
“Of course that won’t work as-is. It needs some modification,” Jiang Chuan said confidently.
Wang Mingyuan was taken aback and fell silent for a moment. “Boss Jiang, can this really work?”
He was still uncertain.
After all, the factory had just started. If product issues led to returns, that would be a devastating blow to this fledgling military factory.
The arms circle was actually quite small—once you mentioned a name, everyone basically knew who you were.
If their products had problems, word would spread through the entire industry quickly, and then it would be hard for the factory to ship anything at all.
“Don’t worry. Once this thing is modified, you’ll believe what I’m saying.” Jiang Chuan turned and walked into the factory. “Have someone unload everything. I’ll give you the modification blueprints in a bit.”
“Got it, Boss Jiang.”
Wang Mingyuan wanted to say something more, but the words died on his lips—he felt he was talking too much.
After all, he was just a workshop director. Boss Jiang was the owner of the factory. Whatever the boss said, he’d do.
Worst case, if it failed, he’d take the blame.
“Hurry, get everyone over here and unload all this stuff. Stack it in the workshop and wait for Boss Jiang’s instructions.”
Wang Mingyuan called the workers over.
…
Back in the office, the first thing Jiang Chuan did was sit down at his desk and start drawing the modification blueprints for the gas cylinder and steel pipe combo, based on his memories from his past life.
He finished quickly.
After all, this thing was really simple—just add a few brackets, attach a propulsion device to the steel pipe, and add a remote control.
Looking at the blueprints in front of him, Jiang Chuan let out a breath of relief, picked them up, and headed to the production workshop.
