My Amazing WeChat – Chapter 16, The Mysterious Old Man

Bald Qiang’s unrestrained words left Lin Hai feeling awkward, and Liu Xinyue blushed furiously.

“Master, Mistress, where are you heading? Let me drive you,” Bald Qiang quickly changed the subject, realizing he might have said something inappropriate. He took the bags from Liu Xinyue and signaled his lackeys to help Lin Hai with his things.

Lin Hai thought about it. Carrying all these items back would indeed be a hassle.

“Alright, take us back to the university.”

Bald Qiang dismissed his lackeys and personally drove a beat-up van to take Lin Hai and Liu Xinyue back to Jiangnan University.

“Do you know anyone who sells cars?” After seeing Liu Xinyue upstairs, Lin Hai asked Bald Qiang.

“Master, are you looking for a new car or a used one?”

“A used one,” Lin Hai replied after some thought. Buying a new car would mean waiting a few days for the license plate, and since he was heading home tomorrow, a used car would be more convenient.

“I know a friend who specializes in used cars. I’ll take you to him.”

Glory Used Car Dealership

“Brother Qiang!” As soon as Bald Qiang got out of the car, a sharp-faced man greeted him.

“Monkey, got any good cars? My master here needs one.”

“Master?” Monkey was taken aback. “Yes, yes, right this way.”

Monkey was smart. Bald Qiang was a big shot in the area, and businessmen like him had to stay on his good side. Seeing Bald Qiang call Lin Hai “Master,” Monkey’s attitude became even more respectful.

“Brother Qiang, sir, these cars are the gems of my shop. If it weren’t for Brother Qiang, I wouldn’t even consider showing them.”

Monkey led Lin Hai and Bald Qiang to a small courtyard at the back, pointing to a row of cars.

Lin Hai scanned the lineup: Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover, Audi… all luxury vehicles.

“How much for that Land Rover?” Lin Hai immediately took a liking to a white Land Rover Range Rover Evoque in the middle.

“Sir, you have a great eye. This Land Rover is a top-of-the-line model, almost new. It’s less than two years old, with only 20,000 kilometers on it. The performance is excellent. The previous owner only sold it because he needed cash urgently.”

“Just tell me the price,” Lin Hai said, cutting him off.

“If you’re serious, 2.6 million.”

“Damn it, Monkey! You dare overcharge my master?” Bald Qiang shoved Monkey, causing him to stumble.

“Brother Qiang, this is already a bargain,” Monkey said with a grimace.

“No way, lower it.”

Monkey gritted his teeth. “2.5 million, can’t go lower.”

Lin Hai rolled his eyes. That number was just too unlucky.

“How about 2.2 million? If you agree, I’ll take it,” Lin Hai said calmly.

“This…” Monkey hesitated.

“Damn it, are you asking for trouble?” Bald Qiang stepped forward again, but Lin Hai stopped him.

“Sir, how about 2.3 million? You can drive it away,” Monkey said, not wanting to offend Bald Qiang too much. He’d just have to make less profit.

After paying, Lin Hai drove off in the Land Rover. As for the paperwork, Bald Qiang took care of it, so Lin Hai didn’t have to worry.

Driving the car, Lin Hai marveled at the comfortable interior and luxurious features. He never thought he’d own such a high-end vehicle.

On the way, Lin Hai stopped by Walmart to buy a bunch of premium cigarettes, alcohol, and gifts, filling the spacious trunk of the Land Rover.

“Damn, a top-tier Land Rover!”

“Which rich kid is here to pick up girls at our school?”

“Man, if I could drive a car like that in this lifetime, I’d die happy.”

As soon as Lin Hai entered the campus, he attracted envious stares.

Parking the car downstairs, Lin Hai entered his dorm, only to be pounced on by Wang Peng.

“Get off me! I’m not into that,” Lin Hai struggled to push Wang Peng’s hefty frame away.

“Lin Hai, I saw from the window that you drove back in a Land Rover.”

“Yep,” Lin Hai said, his face lighting up with pride.

“No way, seriously?”

“Lin Hai, whose Land Rover did you borrow?”

The other dorm mates gathered around, bombarding him with questions.

Lin Hai rolled his eyes. “Who said I borrowed it? I bought it myself.”

“Yeah, right. We’ve lived together for three years. We know your family’s financial situation,” they scoffed.

Only Liu Liang looked at Lin Hai with a strange expression, then said in surprise, “Lin Hai, that day, did you really…”

“Yeah, I sold it for ten million!” Lin Hai had no reason to hide it from his friends.

“Holy crap, that’s insane!” Liu Liang’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.

The others immediately turned to Liu Liang for details. He recounted the day he took Lin Hai and Liu Xinyue to Wangu Hall.

The dorm erupted in chaos.

“Damn, Lin Hai’s a rich man now.”

“Give me the keys. Let me drive it for a couple of days.”

“I propose we make this the official 301 dormitory girl-chasing vehicle!”

“We’re eating big tonight! Lin Hai’s treating us to a full night of fun!”

After the initial shock, the guys surrounded Lin Hai again.

“I’m heading home tomorrow. When I get back, I’ll take everyone to Golden Glory!”

Lin Hai waved his hand grandly. He was never stingy with his friends.

“Awesome!” The dorm erupted in cheers again.

“I’m heading home tomorrow,” Lin Hai texted Liu Xinyue.

“Okay.”

“I’ll be gone for about a week. Keep practicing the vocal techniques I taught you.”

“Okay.”

“Just ‘okay’? Are you going to miss me?”

“Don’t flatter yourself. Be safe on the road.”

Liu Xinyue sat on her bed, feeling a sudden emptiness. Was she really going to miss him?

Lin Hai’s hometown was over 300 kilometers from Jiangnan City. Early the next morning, he set off.

The morning rush hour made it take nearly an hour just to get out of the city.

Lin Hai parked at the highway entrance.

Then, he took out his phone, opened the Heavenly Court Trading Group, and stared intently at the screen.

The time for Supreme Lord Laozi to send a red packet was approaching.

Sure enough, within five minutes.

Ding!

A large red packet appeared on the screen.

Damn!

“You were too slow. The red packet has already been claimed!”

“Ugh!” Lin Hai slammed the steering wheel in frustration.

Having missed the red packet, Lin Hai continued driving.

The highway was relatively empty, and Lin Hai pushed the car to 150 km/h. The vehicle remained stable, and the road noise was almost negligible.

Lin Hai couldn’t help but marvel. A good car really made a difference.

“Hmm?” As he drove, Lin Hai noticed a black Audi A8 parked on the emergency lane up ahead.

A young man stood beside it, looking anxious and waving at passing cars.

However, none of the cars stopped.

“Probably out of gas or broken down,” Lin Hai thought, slowing down.

He believed in helping others when possible.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Hai pulled over and got out of the car.

“Ah, hello. My car broke down, and my boss has an urgent matter. We need to get to Yutian County’s Lancheng Town. Could you…”

Before the young man could finish, the rear door of the Audi opened, and a sprightly old man in his seventies stepped out.

“Young man, could you give this old man a ride?”

Lin Hai looked up and was struck by a sudden shock.

Then, a faint blue mist appeared in his pupils.

His Heavenly Eye ability had activated on its own!
