Inside the hospital room, aside from Lilith, everyone else was injured worse than the last.
Even at a time like this, Sha Ya and Ling Xiaoxiao were still secretly competing with each other.
The two of them were now just waiting for Xue Ji’s move, to see who she would go to first.
“It’s really tough on you two. The only thing that can move on your entire bodies is your heads, yet you can still find ways to compete with each other.”
Watching this scene, Xue Ji found it strangely amusing.
These two—one refused to admit defeat, and the other had never lost before. And of all people, they just had to be brought together. This was truly a disaster of Xue Ji’s own making.
“Lilith, push me over.”
Xue Ji’s legs were in casts, and her right arm was injured too. She looked pretty pitiful as well.
“Are you sure about that, you scrub Sage? You really want to do this?” Lilith said with feigned surprise. “Then what about me? Aren’t you going to consider me? If I get mad, what are you going to do about that?”
“Don’t forget, you can’t even push a wheelchair right now. If you make me unhappy, I’ll shove you right off the Azure Dragon this instant.” Lilith put on a fierce act, even pinching Xue Ji’s cheek.
“No respect for your elders.” Ling Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes.
“Taking advantage of someone in a weak position.” Sha Ya stared at Lilith like a beast guarding its food.
This girl had always been mischievous, and after absorbing Xue Ji’s essence, she’d become even more brazen. But she knew very well that she had to act this way.
She didn’t want Xue Ji to be monopolized by anyone—otherwise, where’s the fun in that?
Besides, Xue Ji was her Xue Ji too. No matter what, they were never going to be separated again.
“Scrub Sage, you said you’d never let go again. You better keep your word~” Lilith whispered into Xue Ji’s ear.
Xue Ji felt a pang of stomach pain. Did she really have a way to untangle this mess?
“I—I know.” Xue Ji gritted her teeth and replied.
“Good. Then let me give you a drift.”
“What drift? Aren’t I in a wheelchair?” Xue Ji quickly tried to stop her. “Wait, don’t—!”
Lilith suddenly accelerated, pushing the wheelchair at full speed toward the space between Ling Xiaoxiao and Sha Ya.
Then, with a sharp turn and a sudden brake, a wheelchair drift actually happened.
“I’m going to deal with you sooner or later!” Xue Ji spun in the middle of the three of them, like the pointer on a prize wheel.
Lilith thought this was way more entertaining. Sha Ya didn’t need any convincing, and even Ling Xiaoxiao was forced to pay attention to where the wheelchair would finally stop.
Ignoring Ling Xiaoxiao’s murderous glare, Lilith continued on her own, “Whoever it points to, Xue Ji talks to them first.”
Lilith was now brimming with confidence—after all, she hadn’t even tried out all the various tricks Xue Ji had left behind yet. She wouldn’t mind reminding Ling Xiaoxiao of what happened back then.
And besides, even if things went south, she could just slip right back into Xue Ji’s body. What could Ling Xiaoxiao possibly do to her then?
Though Sha Ya felt a little disappointed, she was still looking forward to seeing who would be chosen.
But this naive girl had no idea what a cultivator was truly capable of. A strange fluctuation suddenly appeared inside Ling Xiaoxiao’s medical pod—she was trying to pull off some telekinetic trickery.
A massive spiritual-energy hand reached toward the spinning Xue Ji, almost succeeding. But just as it was about to touch her, it was deflected by an invisible force.
Looking closely, Xue Ji’s wheelchair was emitting a faint glow, with defensive arrays carved into it.
She wanted to make a sarcastic remark, but the craftsmanship of those inscriptions felt both familiar and foreign to her. She glanced at the smug-looking Lilith, wondering what exactly she was scheming.
Sha Ya, oblivious to the silent contest between the two, was simply enjoying the thrill of the game, waiting with eager anticipation for the result.
Xue Ji’s spinning was about to stop, and the breathing of all three women froze at that very moment.
The rotation slowed down, hovering in a state where it could stop at any second. It drove all three of them crazy with suspense.
Who would it be?
From three directions, the wheelchair seemed to be stopping right in front of Sha Ya’s bed.
Seeing this, Sha Ya let out a triumphant laugh. Even though she was wrapped up like a mummy from severe burns all over her body, she still raised her fists above her head and cheered excitedly.
“Never have I ever felt such—huh?”
But her joy didn’t last long. Sha Ya quickly deflated.
Unexpectedly, Xue Ji ended up facing the empty space right between Ling Xiaoxiao and Sha Ya—perfectly centered, not leaning to either side.
Still dizzy from the spinning, Xue Ji opened her eyes and saw nothing but a small, unoccupied stool.
“Was that stool there just now?” Xue Ji thought her eyes were playing tricks on her and rubbed them.
When she opened her eyes again, she saw a flash of watery blue. Eva, dressed in a hospital gown, had appeared.
“Eh, Eva, you’re here too!” Xue Ji’s mood instantly brightened at the sight of her.
The silent blue-haired girl had been nothing but reassuring ever since she came back with Xue Ji. A genius who learned things incredibly fast, even under normal circumstances, she had finished all coursework from elementary to high school in just three days and blended perfectly into human society.
And on top of that, this whole mess wouldn’t have been resolved without her.
“So it’s Eva. Fine, then.” Ling Xiaoxiao didn’t say much more and fell silent.
Sha Ya said with pure envy, “Lucky.”
Lilith shot Sha Ya a look as if she were an idiot. Lucky? It was clearly Eva using her Accelerated World ability to meddle with the outcome.
“This girl never says a word, but who knew she had such a scheming side.”
Eva’s move had undeniably gotten Xue Ji out of a tight spot and defused the tension in the room.
Though she couldn’t speak, she was far more reliable than anyone else around Xue Ji.
“Eva, when did you get here?” Xue Ji asked.
Eva gestured animatedly, even using frowns and tongue-sticking-out expressions to communicate.
“What’s she saying?” Sha Ya asked, confused.
The other two didn’t respond—they had no idea what that abstract performance meant either.
But Xue Ji seemed to understand her perfectly. She nodded.
“I see.”
The other three stared at her in disbelief, then said in unison, “You understand that?”
“Eva said she doesn’t want us to fight. She likes it when we all get along and live together peacefully. She doesn’t understand why we’re at each other’s throats, and she even thought it was her own appearance that caused our conflict.” Xue Ji relayed Eva’s message.
Hearing that, the group fell silent for a moment.
“I—I didn’t hate the way we lived before, but… this is different.” Sha Ya’s voice was conflicted.
“Eva, our dispute has nothing to do with you. It’s all Xue Ji’s fault.” Ling Xiaoxiao pinned the blame squarely on Xue Ji without mercy.
“Hey! I literally risked my life to save both of you!” Xue Ji got so worked up that she tumbled off the wheelchair. “Hiss~ that hurts like hell.”
She’d landed on her injured right arm, and the pain made her suck in a sharp breath.
Lilith stepped in front of Eva, shoving her aside, and quickly helped Xue Ji back up.
Then she shot Eva an icy glare, gnashing her teeth inwardly. “Great. So I’m the bad guy now, huh?”
She’d been stirring things up to help Xue Ji too—to keep her from getting stuck in that impossible dilemma.
But now, this girl had completely ruined her plan.
“Go play somewhere else, kid. Grown-ups are talking, so don’t interfere.” Lilith wheeled Eva—chair and all—right out the door.
Then she slammed the door shut hard and even locked the blast-proof security door.
But when she turned around, Eva was still standing there, pouting with a wrinkled brow—clearly not happy with Lilith’s actions.
To be fair, Eva had only existed for seven months. Lilith was just taking advantage of the fact that Eva couldn’t talk back.
The two locked eyes in a silent standoff, neither willing to back down.
Meanwhile, Ling Xiaoxiao and Sha Ya were staring at Xue Ji with intensely expectant looks, as if they had no intention of giving her even a moment to breathe.
The situation had become even more chaotic.
What on earth was she supposed to do in a situation like this! Xue Ji’s brain was practically smoking, and she still couldn’t think of a solution. Was she really just going to let them keep bickering?
“Forget it. I’ll just throw dignity out the window.” Xue Ji gritted her teeth and made some kind of awful resolution.
