The New Year was pretty much over.
Bai Ruoxi wasn’t in a hurry to go to the capital to handle her resignation procedures. Instead, she followed Jiang Fei from Meizhou to Jincheng. She had said before that after resigning, she didn’t plan to just stay at home idle, but intended to join Jiang Fei’s company – and that wasn’t just a joke.
She didn’t want to fight with Lin Moli, nor did she have any intention of pushing Lin Moli out of Jiang Fei’s company.
Because she already knew that the success of Jiang Fei’s pharmaceutical company, from start to finish, was inseparable from Lin Moli. You could even say that Lin Moli built it from the ground up herself.
From the initial capital Jiang Fei provided to set up Jiang’s Medical Clinic, to gradually improving and managing the clinic, and then later establishing Jiang’s Pharmaceutical Company…
Lin Moli was behind all of this.
Even though Jiang Fei is the Chairman of Jiang’s Company, the absolute core, and his incredible medical skills and wide-reaching influence made building such a vast pharmaceutical empire possible. But without Lin Moli as his partner, no matter how miraculous Jiang Fei’s medical abilities were, he never could have come this far so quickly.
Within Jiang Fei’s massive, vibrant, and energetic pharmaceutical empire, he is the indispensable backbone. Without Jiang Fei, there would be no Jiang’s Pharmaceutical Company. But isn’t it the same for Lin Moli?
The dedication and hard work Lin Moli has poured into this pharmaceutical empire is at least as much as Jiang Fei’s, who often acts like an absent boss!
So, for this reason alone, Bai Ruoxi wouldn’t get into a power struggle with Lin Moli within Jiang’s Pharmaceutical Company, nor would she try to use underhanded tactics to sideline her.
When she said she wanted to join Jiang Fei’s company, she never intended to fight with Lin Moli for power. What she had in mind, was the Jiang’s Medical Clinic – which was already under construction and would only grow stronger in the future.
Jiang Fei wanted to expand Jiang’s Medical Clinic, step by step, until they exist all across the country and even the world. He had already told Bai Ruoxi about this plan a long time ago, so she had thought of this when she was about to retire.
Lin Moli would manage Jiang’s Pharmaceutical Company, and she would manage Jiang’s Medical Clinic.
In the future, as these two branches grow bigger and bigger, although both are part of Jiang’s pharmaceutical empire, they wouldn’t be too closely connected. Even if they occasionally had work overlaps, it wouldn’t be too frequent.
So, this way, the two of them could coexist peacefully.
As for the fact that Bai Ruoxi had never worked in the pharmaceutical industry before and had no management experience in this field, that wasn’t a problem for her. She was a top student who had been class monitor since she was little. She had already done a lot of preparation work beforehand, and she believed that once she took over and learned gradually, with her abilities, there wouldn’t be any major issues.
Of course, Bai Ruoxi didn’t know that Su Nan was currently managing Jiang’s Medical Clinic. If she did…
Fortunately, Jiang Fei wasn’t worried about this. Su Nan was, from the start, a woman with few desires or demands. She planned to keep their relationship hidden from everyone. She truly didn’t want, nor was she willing, to make her relationship with Jiang Fei public. Plus, her management skills weren’t really that great anyway. She could handle the current small scale of Jiang’s Medical Clinic, but if it grew larger in the future, she might not be able to keep up. Having Bai Ruoxi take over would be perfect.
Bai Ruoxi and Su Nan already knew each other. So now, with Su Nan already at Jiang’s Medical Clinic, Bai Ruoxi would have an easier time getting started.
On the day they arrived in Jincheng, Jiang Fei didn’t take Bai Ruoxi to the medical clinic first. Instead, he first went to Su Nan’s house to pay a New Year’s visit and see the little girl, Tongtong.
Su Nan wasn’t too surprised by Bai Ruoxi’s arrival either, because Jiang Fei had already privately given her a heads-up. She was very welcoming of this.
“Uncle Jiang, Tongtong missed you so much during this time! Where did you spend the New Year?” After dinner, with her little belly round and full, Tongtong sat on Jiang Fei’s lap and asked in her babyish voice.
“Uncle Jiang spent the New Year at home, of course.” Jiang Fei said with a smile.
“But… but Mom said you weren’t in Jincheng. I wanted to find you to set off fireworks on New Year’s Eve, but I couldn’t…” Tongtong tilted her little head up, looking quite content.
Jiang Fei’s hand gently massaged her small, round belly. This little foodie just couldn’t stop herself when she encountered delicious food. She had eaten a bit too much and was having trouble digesting it, so she needed a little help.
“Uncle Jiang went home to spend the New Year with his mom and dad. So he wasn’t in Jincheng.” Jiang Fei answered with a smile.
“Oh. Okay then. After the New Year, will you be staying in Jincheng more often, Uncle Jiang?” Tongtong bit her finger and looked at Jiang Fei with her big, watery eyes.
“Mm, I should be…” Jiang Fei chuckled, reaching out to gently pinch her little nose.
But before he could finish his sentence, his phone suddenly rang.
Jiang Fei pulled out his phone and looked at the caller ID. It showed Lion King, and his eyebrows immediately rose. He had a hunch about what this might be about.
“Jiang Fei, where are you? If you have time, come to the capital right away. The operation against the Tianwang organization is starting early.”
Just as he thought. When Jiang Fei answered, he heard Lion King’s rough voice. He spoke directly, without beating around the bush, very straightforwardly telling Jiang Fei to come to the capital, ready to move against Tianwang.
“Okay. I have time. I’ll head to the capital right now. Should I meet up with you there, Lion King?” Jiang Fei said seriously.
He could tell that something was wrong with Lion King’s tone. It wasn’t just that the operation was starting early; Lion King’s voice seemed to contain a lot of suppressed, seething anger.
This anger, the feeling it gave Jiang Fei, was even more intense than when Yanagimura Munenori had insisted on challenging him against his wishes at the peak of Mount Emei’s Golden Summit.
What could have made Lion King so furious? Although Lion King’s nature was very bold and straightforward, not the gloomy type, once someone reaches his level of skill, ordinary things usually can’t make him this angry.
“No. I’m not in the capital right now. I’m in Shanghai. And I’m not going back to the capital either. I’m about to take a flight to the Middle East! You go to the capital first. Someone from the Qisha Group will meet you there, and then you’ll head directly to London. The situation in London isn’t simple either. There will be at least two SS-rank assassins stationed there. As for whether there are any stronger ones, we don’t know for now. So, I’ll have to rely on you to handle things over there.” Lion King suppressed his anger and said in a low voice.
Even though he was holding it back, you could still hear how much explosive anger was in Lion King’s voice. He was probably ready for a bloody massacre!
And Jiang Fei could also roughly grasp some of the situation from Lion King’s words.
The Qisha Group had likely run into some serious trouble, and in two different places. Lion King was rushing to the Middle East to help, while telling Jiang Fei to hurry to London to help.
Jiang Fei didn’t dare waste time on unnecessary chatter. He immediately agreed, “Okay. Don’t worry. I’ll go to the capital right away. Leave the London situation to me.”
Even though Jiang Fei had never encountered an SS-rank assassin before, he had already learned a fair amount about them through the Qisha Group. Every SS-rank assassin, in terms of Eastern martial artists, is equivalent to a master at the Huajin level.
The most powerful among them, especially, can reach the peak of Huajin – the same level as Miyamoto Isshin, Little Drunkard, and Bai Kedi.
Assassins at this level can completely break free from an organization’s control, come and go as they please, and their strength is not to be underestimated.
The fact that two SS-rank assassins recruited by Tianwang had appeared in London at the same time clearly meant they had come prepared. It seemed they wanted a real showdown with the Qisha Group, to see who was stronger.
After hanging up, Jiang Fei frowned, thinking to himself: I just don’t know if the Qisha Group has already had any run-ins with Tianwang, or if there have been any losses.
Hearing how hard it was for Lion King to contain his rage, it probably meant something bad had already happened…
“Did something happen?” Bai Ruoxi, who had just finished cleaning up the dishes with Su Nan, walked out of the kitchen and looked at Jiang Fei.
Jiang Fei nodded, not letting too much show on his face. “Yeah, something came up. I need to go to the capital right away, and then I have to head to London.”
Hearing that he had to go abroad, Bai Ruoxi was momentarily surprised, then figured it probably wasn’t about Jiang’s Pharmaceutical Company, so she didn’t ask any more questions.
She just looked at him with concern and said, “Be careful.”
Jiang Fei nodded and smiled. “Don’t worry. It’s just a quick trip. Nothing major. I shouldn’t be gone too long before I’m back.”
Tongtong, who was sitting in Jiang Fei’s lap, heard that he was leaving. Immediately, she wrapped her little arms around his neck, pouted her pink little lips, and said unhappily, “Uncle Jiang, are you leaving right now? Weren’t you just saying you’d stay in Jincheng more and cook yummy food for Tongtong often?”
Jiang Fei gently pinched her little nose and smiled. “Tongtong, be good. Uncle Jiang has to go out for something. But I’ll be back very soon. When I return, I’ll make you lots and lots of yummy food, okay?”
Tongtong’s little face was full of unhappiness, looking quite aggrieved.
But hearing Jiang Fei say that, she was surprisingly sensible and said in her babyish voice, “Alright then. But we have to make a pinky promise! Next time, you have to make me lots and lots of delicious things that Tongtong has never eaten before…”
“Okay. I promise you, you little foodie.” Jiang Fei said with a smile.
“Pinky swear then…”
——-
Almost four hours later.
The plane slowly descended at the capital’s airport. Jiang Fei walked off the plane and just turned on his phone. He was about to follow the flow of other passengers to catch the airport bus to the exit and find the Qisha Group contact.
But before he could even get on the airport bus, a green off-road vehicle drove up and stopped right in front of him.
This move surprised a lot of the people getting off the plane.
As everyone knows, no matter how rich you are or how fancy your sports car is, you’re not allowed to drive inside the airport. You simply can’t get in. Even if you have money and want to make a grand entrance, you can’t have a private car pick you up right after getting off the plane.
This young man, who had just been sitting in economy class and didn’t look particularly wealthy or powerful, was apparently so influential that he could arrange a car to wait for him right on the tarmac?
Many of the flight attendants, who had been flying commercial for years, had never seen anything like this.
It wasn’t just the passengers; even the flight attendants carrying their suitcases down the plane stairs were completely astonished.
“Get in. We’re not going to the waiting hall to transfer. The plane has been waiting. As soon as you arrive, we’ll take off.” The person in the car was a woman with medium-length hair and a serious, unsmiling expression.
After a brief moment of surprise, Jiang Fei quickly snapped out of it, opened the passenger door, and got in.
The off-road vehicle started up quickly and, to the amazement of the onlookers, sped straight toward a plane in the distance.
That plane was a special one urgently arranged by the Qisha Group. Aside from the crew, the only people on board were Jiang Fei and the unsmiling woman with medium-length hair who had picked him up.
“Hello, Mr. Jiang. We haven’t met before. Let me introduce myself. I’m Jingzhe from the Qisha Group, and also Lion King’s disciple.” The woman said in a low, serious voice.
“Hello.”
Jiang Fei nodded.
He was a bit surprised. He hadn’t expected that this woman was not only a member of the Qisha Group but also Lion King’s disciple!
For an expert at Lion King’s level, he wouldn’t take on disciples casually. Most of those he accepted as students were exceptional in some way.
And from what Jiang Fei observed, this Jingzhe woman was probably also holding back a lot of anger and grief right now. Otherwise, in normal times, she probably wouldn’t have such a naturally cold and stern face.
Jiang Fei’s uneasy feeling grew stronger.
He didn’t waste words and asked directly, “Can you tell me what exactly happened? Over the phone, Lion King left in a hurry and didn’t have time to give me the details. What’s happening in the Middle East that requires Lion King to rush over so urgently? And what’s happening in London with the appearance of two SS-rank assassins?”
Asked about this, Jingzhe nodded. Her eyes sharpened, and killing intent flashed in them. “Of course I can tell you, Mr. Jiang. This trip to London probably won’t be as simple as just dealing with two SS-rank assassins. To completely wipe out this damned Tianwang organization, I suspect we’ll ultimately have to rely on you, Mr. Jiang…”
She paused, took a deep breath, and forced down the anger in her heart before speaking again: “Because this time, the Qisha Group is determined to destroy Tianwang. After we found their trail, we had people monitoring their every move. Every year, around this time, Tianwang holds meetings in the Middle East and London. Our people had already set up ambushes in both places, waiting to wipe them all out once they were all gathered!”
“But not long ago, before Tianwang had even fully assembled and before we could make our move… we received two pieces of news! Our five-person team in the Middle East… four were killed! Only one escaped! And in our London team, two of our comrades were killed by two SS-rank assassins while gathering intelligence!”
