At the sound of that voice, a group of bodyguards in black swiftly approached.
Leading them was Zhuo Ping, the same man who had followed Yun Qinghe back in Qingcheng. He was dressed in black, though this time his outfit looked different from usual — there was some kind of emblem on his cuff.
Ye Shaohua rubbed her chin and gave Zhuo Ping a faint, amused smile. “It’s nothing major. It’s just that my people had properly rented this venue, and then someone else took it over.”
“This place?” Zhuo Ping’s expression hardened the moment he heard that. “Someone actually dares to push around Miss Ye’s people on the Yun family’s turf?”
Without so much as glancing at the two people in charge, he tilted his head toward the man in black beside him. “Find out who’s in charge of this mess, and whose incompetent underling is running things here. Get them on the phone right now.”
In less than a minute after that order, the person who managed the live-action filming zone received a call from the top boss himself. “Have you lost your mind? Why would you go out of your way to provoke the Yun family?! Forget it. Don’t even think about staying in the international market — pack your stuff and get back to Country F.”
One phone call. Less than two minutes. Just like that, the matter was settled.
Director Yu and the others exchanged stunned looks, their eyes wide with shock as they stared at Ye Shaohua. This wasn’t even in their home country anymore — they were on an international stage, and she still had that kind of influence?
Amidst the crowd, Yu Qingjiu’s gaze toward Ye Shaohua grew even more complicated. He’d left Feisheng before because he’d believed it was nothing more than an empty shell. Now, not only had Feisheng produced something like Myriad Gods Firmament, but here it was, throwing its weight around with such authority overseas too.
He couldn’t help wondering — had the tip he’d received back then actually been a trap set by his rival to mislead him?
“You all keep filming. I’ve got something else to take care of around here. I’ll come back once I’ve handled it,” Ye Shaohua said to Director Yu with an easy smile. “If anything comes up, just call me directly.”
After giving those instructions, she left with Zhuo Ping.
The main competition venue for the four great families this time was on the Yun family’s territory. Zhuo Ping led Ye Shaohua into a large hall, then lowered his voice and said, “Miss Ye, please wait here a moment. I’ll go let Young Master Yun and the various hall masters know you’re here.”
Ye Shaohua gave a casual wave of her hand, her gaze drifting around the hall as she took it all in.
Once Zhuo Ping had gone, she noticed a group entering from not too far away. At the very back were Ye Meng and Yin Tianyu. And Ye Meng spotted her too, her face turning ghostly pale, as if she’d just seen something terrifying.
“Ye Shaohua? What are you doing here?” Ye Meng pointed at her, then her mind suddenly jumped to Myriad Gods Firmament. “Oh, I get it now — you came all this way because of Qu Ran’s drama. But what I can’t figure out is, with Feisheng about to collapse at any moment, how do you still have the nerve to come all the way here and tag along with these people making a film?”
By the time she finished speaking, Ye Meng couldn’t help but shake her head, finding the whole situation with Ye Shaohua so utterly laughable.
She had already gotten definite word from Ye Qing — the police had started investigating. In just a few days, Ye Shaohua would be locked up.
“So, you’ve finally stopped pretending?” Ye Shaohua’s hands were still casually tucked in her pockets as she glanced at Ye Meng. “Has Ye Qing finally decided to let you show your face in public?”
Hearing this, Ye Meng froze for a second. “So you already knew that Dad’s affection for you was all an act? But it’s too late for you to realize that now. Back when you were so desperate to climb up fast, you signed that last agreement with Sun Wenhai. Ye Shaohua, you probably don’t know this, but that final contract was your death warrant. If you hadn’t been so greedy back then, you could’ve lived the good life a little longer. Too bad…”
Ye Meng had no idea that Ye Shaohua was here today to take part in the Ye family’s stone-gambling event. She still thought of Ye Shaohua as a fool kept completely in the dark, and couldn’t help shaking her head with a little mock pity.
