The aide who had been about to report some matters to Ye Qing finished his briefing and was preparing to leave.
Out of the corner of his eye, he inadvertently caught a glimpse of the smile on her face. His eyes widened slightly in surprise.
Wait a minute. How could the usually domineering and fierce young miss be wearing such a deeply wicked grin?
The aide was convinced his eyes must be playing tricks on him. He stole another glance at Ye Shaohua, but found her looking as arrogantly self-assured as ever. He quickly averted his gaze. I must have been mistaken, he thought.
He shook his head.
“What did you see wrong?” The person next to him, having heard him mutter to himself, turned to look.
“It’s nothing.” He waved a hand dismissively. “Let’s go find Hall Master Sun.”
Once the two subordinates had departed, Ye Meng finally spoke up again.
“Ye Shaohua, aren’t you just throwing around Dad’s influence? Without Dad, what would you even have left?” Ye Meng had heard that even after taking over Feisheng Entertainment, Ye Shaohua was still asking Ye Qing for money and even asking him to find people to manage the company for her. “When are you going to grow up? When will you finally stand on your own two feet and stop relying on Dad?”
Hearing Ye Meng’s words, a flicker of satisfaction crossed Ye Qing’s face. He patted Ye Meng’s shoulder, signaling her to stop talking, and then turned to Ye Shaohua. His tone was deceptively gentle. “Shaohua, if you intend to take over the gang in the future, it’s essential to know how to run a company. Use Feisheng as a testing ground for now. Dad won’t interfere.”
Although his voice sounded mild, Ye Shaohua could easily detect the underlying impatience in his eyes.
“So, Dad, does this mean you’re completely washing your hands of Feisheng from now on?” Ye Shaohua pressed further.
Ye Qing suddenly remembered the final step of the process. “In a bit, Sun Wenhai will go with you to sign the last document. After that, Feisheng will be officially transferred into your name.”
“Then I will manage it well. I won’t let you down, Dad.” Ye Shaohua’s smile faded.
Manage it well? How could she possibly manage Feisheng?
It was nothing more than an empty shell now. Presumably, all the company’s artists had already terminated their contracts one by one.
There was only one possible outcome for a company like this. Ye Qing had foreseen it the moment he decided to transfer the company to Ye Shaohua.
Although Ye Qing generally didn’t meddle in the companies his underlings used for money laundering, he was still well aware of their business affairs. Thinking of this, he forced a smile. “Mm. Dad believes in you.”
His words of belief were merely lip service. In truth, he already knew exactly what the future held for Feisheng.
“Ye Shaohua!” Ye Meng suddenly grabbed Ye Shaohua’s arm and shook it violently. “How can you do this? Are you trying to destroy everything Dad has worked for his whole life?!”
Ye Shaohua flicked her hand, easily knocking Ye Meng’s grasp away.
Ye Qing had always sheltered Ye Meng so thoroughly that she’d never had to learn any self-defense—unlike the original owner of this body, who had been forced to learn plenty of ways to protect herself.
Under Ye Shaohua’s shove, Ye Meng stumbled backward and landed hard on the floor.
Ye Shaohua looked down at her from above, the way one might look at a misbehaving child—with a kind of arrogance that showed she didn’t even consider the girl a worthy opponent. “Dad, why do you let just anyone wander in here? And Ye Meng, don’t bother going to the set of The Demon tomorrow. Also, from now on, when I come back to the Green Gang, I don’t want to see someone so brainless hanging around. I’m leaving.”
Weren’t the people of the Green Gang scheming to make her their scapegoat? Fine, then she would fully embrace that role.
Ye Meng’s face flushed crimson with fury at Ye Shaohua’s words, but she didn’t dare step forward to challenge her. Instead, she glanced at Ye Qing with an expression of deep hurt.
Ye Qing’s lips were pressed into a thin line. As he watched Ye Shaohua’s retreating figure, the warmth drained from his face. His dark eyes even gathered a sinister, murderous glint.
This foolish, brainless eldest daughter of his… she really seemed to be in a hurry to meet the King of Hell.
But this wasn’t the right time to teach her a lesson. Pushing those thoughts aside, Ye Qing helped Ye Meng to her feet, his eyes filled with a trace of pity. “Xiao Meng, you’ve been wronged. Just endure it a little while longer.”
“But… Dad…” Ye Meng bit her lip.
She and Ye Shaohua attended the same school. Yet from high school all the way through university, only Ye Shaohua’s name and reputation had ever been talked about.
Everyone knew she was the famously untouchable, most cherished daughter of the powerful Ye Qing.
And now, right after graduation, she had a company handed to her.
Meanwhile, the public had no idea that she, Ye Meng, was the daughter who was truly adored.
She had to find her own jobs, hustle on set, and run her own errands. And now that she’d finally secured a role in The Demon, it had been snatched away with a single sentence from Ye Shaohua?
Ye Qing kept telling her to be patient, but for how much longer?
At this thought, a dark shadow fell over Ye Meng’s eyes.
No matter. When the time finally came, Ye Shaohua would learn firsthand what it felt like to fall from grace.
——-
Ye Shaohua paid no attention to whatever schemes the father and daughter were hatching. She simply led Sun Wenhai into the offices of Feisheng Entertainment.
“Uncle Sun, let’s get this signed quickly.” Ye Shaohua appeared almost impatient as she addressed Sun Wenhai.
The look on her face only served to deepen Sun Wenhai’s inward sneer.
He glanced at Ye Shaohua but didn’t say much. He picked up the agreement Ye Shaohua presented and signed his name.
With the signature done, Ye Shaohua took the document and looked it over, her smile growing even wider. “Thank you, Uncle Sun.”
The final agreement had been signed. Feisheng Entertainment was now indisputably hers.
Ye Qing had initially planned to keep a hand in the company’s management to prevent her from causing too much trouble too soon. But after witnessing Ye Shaohua openly bully his precious daughter today, he’d finally instructed Sun Wenhai to sign the last document.
From this point on, Ye Qing’s people would completely withdraw from Feisheng and cease monitoring her.
Because now, the incriminating evidence would slowly start being funneled directly into Feisheng Entertainment under Ye Shaohua’s name.
Seeing the excitement in Ye Shaohua’s expression, Sun Wenhai smiled too—though his smile held a very different meaning.
“Well then, Eldest Miss, you’ve just taken over the company. You should focus on managing things properly. I’ll be heading back to the gang. From now on, you’ll have to handle any problems on your own. You can’t keep leaning on the Boss. You’re a grown woman now; it’s time to learn to fend for yourself,” Sun Wenhai said.
Ye Shaohua placed the document securely in a cabinet and locked it before turning back to Sun Wenhai. “Of course, Uncle Sun. I’ll definitely manage the company well.”
Sun Wenhai responded with a placid smile at her enthusiastic declaration.
But as soon as he turned to leave, a look of utter disdain flickered across his face. Manage the company well? When he’d arrived, he’d already noticed that most of the major stars had terminated their contracts. She didn’t even realize Feisheng had been hollowed out, and yet she actually believed she’d inherited a real, functioning company. What a joke.
