Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 47
It was a bright, sunny afternoon. Enoxia and Sirin lounged lazily on beach chairs under a parasol, enjoying the ocean breeze. Meanwhile, Ivan remained in the data space, being cared for by someone experienced in childcare.
For Enoxia, such leisurely days were undeniably pleasant. But after a while, even comfort could grow dull—and when humans get bored, their minds inevitably wander.
From her own birth to the Herrscher transformation of the Houli clan, all signs pointed to drastic changes ahead. She had no idea who the next Herrscher would be or where they would emerge. If it happened in densely populated regions like northern India or southeastern Shenzhou, the death toll could easily reach tens of millions.
Though the future was uncertain, some things remained unchanged. For instance, in 2005, the battle between Welt Yang and Nagamitsu Ryousuke—triggered by the Sky People and the Shoggoths—would still occur unless outside forces intervened.
What kind of man was Otto Apocalypse? Undoubtedly talented, and… ahem… “virtuous.” His contributions were immense, and it wasn’t contradictory to both respect him for his achievements and despise him for his atrocities.
But compared to Otto, Nagamitsu Ryousuke was utterly talentless and morally bankrupt. Despite having an information advantage, he still got solo-killed by Welt Yang. His greatest contributions? Fathering Himeko, an exceptional daughter, and informing the readers of the Sky People’s arrival.
He failed his wife, his daughter, Welt Yang, and even the Shoggoths. Such a self-righteous waste of flesh wasn’t worth pity.
The real issue was how his death would affect Nagamitsu Himeko. If she joined the Schicksal because of it, any interference would trigger a chain reaction.
Himeko’s presence—or absence—at St. Freya would drastically alter the future. Not just Kiana, but Fu Hua, Mei, and Theresa—their lives were all shaped by her influence. She and Otto were like the opposing forces of yin and yang, pushing the protagonists’ growth from opposite directions.
“Foresight and information asymmetry were my advantages… but with too many variables, those advantages could become liabilities.”
Just then, Bella approached, carrying two plates to the table between their chairs.
“Queen, Miss Enoxia, I’ve prepared watermelon pizza. Please enjoy.”
“Watermelon pizza” was simply triangular slices of watermelon topped with strawberries, kiwis, and other favorite fruits, drizzled with yogurt or honey. Bella had even thoughtfully removed the rind, making it easy to pick up and eat.
“Thanks, Bella. You should rest too.” Enoxia picked up a slice and took a bite. The sweet, tangy, and juicy flavors captivated her taste buds. After finishing one, she eagerly reached for another.
“Well, it’s only 2000. Whatever happens in 2005 can wait.” The joy of good food temporarily pushed her worries aside.
The watermelon pizza was delicious, but both Enoxia and Sirin deliberately left a few slices untouched.
Seeing the leftovers, Bella picked one up and sat on the sand beside Sirin to eat.
“Hmm… maybe a bit too sour. The Queen prefers sweeter flavors. Next time, I should reduce the yogurt by… about 30%.”
“Ahhh—”
Bathed in warm sunlight and a gentle breeze, Sirin—now fully satiated—felt drowsiness creeping in. Her yawns came one after another.
Bella immediately adjusted the lounge chair into a flat position and repositioned the parasol to shield Sirin from the sun. Just as she was about to fetch a blanket, Sirin grabbed her hand.
“Bella… Afrola… Agata… Don’t leave me…”
Mumbling in her sleep, Sirin suddenly yanked Bella onto the lounge chair with her.
“Bella, just stay with her.”
With two people on one chair, space was tight. So Enoxia got up, flattened her own chair into a bed, and pushed it next to Sirin’s.
She hurried back inside to check on the data space. Inside the virtual world, Ivan was nestled in Alexandra’s arms, listening to her stories. Under the care of Alexandra and Cecilia, Ivan had adapted remarkably well to her new family in just a month.
If she chose an ordinary life, this place could provide her with lifelong comfort and happiness. But if she wanted to fight the Honkai, Enoxia could replicate the Schicksal’s training facilities here, and with Cecilia—an S-rank Valkyrie—as her mentor, Ivan’s potential would surpass most Valkyries.
Grabbing a thin blanket, Enoxia returned to the beach. The sun still shone brightly, the sea breeze still gentle. By now, Bella was completely wrapped in Sirin’s embrace, while Sirin murmured happily in her dreams—playing by the shore with her three friends from Babylon Labs, as if those joyful days would never end.
Girls being affectionate was wholesome, sure, but their current pose and exposure level seemed more fitting for a game rated above 12+. (Well, except for Honkai Impact 2, where 12+ apparently meant “anything goes.”)
(Pretend there’s an image of Sirin and Bella cuddling here.)
Watching the two snuggle with blissful expressions, Enoxia wasn’t sure whom to envy more. After gently covering them with the blanket, she returned to the house, satisfied.
“Wait… The World Snake’s already done? That was fast. Guess it’s time to visit their HQ.”
Schicksal Headquarters
“Amber, what are the experimental results?”
“Just as you predicted. Preliminary analysis confirms that the remains of the Ice Herrscher, the mysterious enemy Fu Hua defeated in South America, and the corpse found beside the Thunder Herrscher core in 1999 all belong to the same species. Theoretically, they possess incredible regenerative abilities.”
Otto nodded in satisfaction.
“Fascinating. A non-Honkai energy source… Let’s see what surprises you have in store.”
