As the dust settled, a convoy of military-green trucks appeared before everyone’s eyes.
The villagers were dumbfounded. Judging by the commotion, those trucks must have been flying.
Damn, they drove them like airplanes.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
People kept jumping out of the vehicles one after another.
Clatter!
A group of soldiers in camouflage uniforms and combat boots, holding Type 95 submachine guns, spread out in a line, shielding Lin Hai behind them.
Click! Click! Click!
The crisp sound of guns being cocked struck heavily in the hearts of every villager.
With bullets loaded, a dozen dark gun muzzles were aimed at the arrogant youngsters of the Li family.
The group on the opposite side had never seen such a scene before! Faced with these fully armed soldiers, their legs went weak with fear.
“San Leng, i-is the government finally coming for us?” a scrawny guy who looked like a monkey shrank his neck and asked the leader, Li San Leng, tremblingly.
Li San Leng raised his hand and slapped him.
“Coming for your mom! With a pathetic look like yours, you think they’d need the army?”
Li San Leng’s heart was also pounding painfully; he had no idea what these suddenly appearing soldiers meant.
Just then, Guo Fei jumped out of the truck, chest puffed out and head held high.
Li San Leng figured he must be an official.
He quickly scurried over obsequiously, pulling out a cigarette and handing it over.
“Leader, have a cigarette. What’s going on here?”
Guo Fei ignored him completely. With a serious expression, he jogged over to Lin Hai and snapped to attention with a sharp salute.
“Comrade Chief, should the criminals be executed on the spot? Please advise!”
“Wha-what? Executed?” Li San Leng was so frightened he nearly pissed his pants.
“Leader, Leader, we’re all villagers from here, not criminals! I…”
When he saw who this officer was addressing as ‘Chief,’ he was instantly dumbfounded.
Lin Hai!
Thump!
Li San Leng’s legs gave way, and he sat down hard on the ground.
Damn, it’s over!
Lin Hai was also confused by Guo Fei. Chief? Execute on the spot? What the hell?
But when he saw Guo Fei continuously winking at him, he suddenly understood.
Guo Fei was elevating his status in front of everyone, intimidating these people.
“Shoot anyone who dares to make a wrong move!” Lin Hai said coldly.
“Yes, sir!” Guo Fei saluted in reply.
Whoa!
As soon as Lin Hai spoke, everyone was in an uproar.
“Damn, isn’t Old Lin’s kid supposed to be in school? Why are these soldiers listening to him?”
“Didn’t you hear that leader guy call Old Lin’s kid ‘Chief’? What rank is ‘Chief’? Even if the county head or mayor came, they wouldn’t qualify to be called ‘Chief,’ right?”
“Li Er Leng, Li San Leng really stepped on a landmine this time. Damn, I hope they just shoot all those bastards.”
The villagers’ eyes sparkled; they were both excited and curious about what was happening.
The young men from the Li family on the opposite side were already scared stiff, standing there with trembling legs, not daring to move, afraid they might accidentally catch a bullet.
The more timid ones had even wet their pants.
“Oh my, Old Lin, what’s going on here?” Suddenly, a man in his fifties with slicked-back hair came running over in a panic.
Smack!
A soldier suddenly spun around, aiming his gun at him.
“Stop right there! Take another step and we’ll shoot!”
“Don’t, don’t shoot! I’m the village chief, Li Chusheng. Please, just move the gun away, don’t let it go off by accident.” Li Chusheng quickly dodged the muzzle and said urgently.
“Let him through.” Only after Lin Hai spoke did the soldier move his gun away.
“Oh, Xiao Hai is back.” Li Chusheng put on a flattering smile and greeted Lin Hai warmly.
“Don’t call me that so familiarly. Do I know you well?” Lin Hai didn’t give him any face at all.
Damn, earlier my brother proactively greeted you, and you turned your nose up at him. Now you come running over to cozy up?
Li Chusheng was instantly embarrassed. He was used to throwing his weight around in the village; who dared to show him a stern face?
But the situation was stronger than the man. With so many guns aimed at them now, Li Chusheng had no choice but to swallow his anger and turned instead to Lin Wen.
“Hey, Old Lin, we’re all fellow villagers here. What’s all this about?”
“Hmph!” Lin Wen twisted his neck stubbornly. “Ask me what it’s about? Go ask your nephew, Li Er Leng!”
“Li Er Leng?” Li Chusheng really didn’t know what had happened. He quickly turned to look for Li Er Leng.
“Uncle, I’m here.” A battered, swollen face with a lisp answered, his voice choked with tears.
“Damn!” Li Chusheng was startled. This was brutal; the guy didn’t even look human anymore.
“Er Leng, what the hell is going on?”
“Uncle, I accidentally took a tiny bit of their land, and then they just wouldn’t let it go and came over and beat me like this.”
Lin Hai’s eyes widened fiercely. Damn, even at a time like this, he’s still spewing nonsense!
“Bring him here!” As soon as Lin Hai spoke, two soldiers went over and dragged Li Er Leng out.
The two young men who had been supporting Li Er Leng were so frightened they immediately let go, not daring to interfere at all.
“Oh dear, what are you doing? This…”
Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack…
Ignoring Li Chusheng completely, Lin Hai raised his hand, his gaze icy cold, and slapped Li Er Leng hard across the face repeatedly.
Seeing this, Li Chusheng immediately panicked.
“Old Lin, quick, tell your son to stop!”
“Hmph, if you have something to say, go tell my son directly.” Lin Wen simply turned his head away.
Li Chusheng was frantic. Damn it, if he couldn’t handle this properly today, he’d lose all his authority in the village.
“Stop it!” Thinking it over, Li Chusheng decided to take the risk. He ran over and stood directly in front of Li Er Leng.
“Lin Hai, you stop right now! Let me tell you, this is a society governed by law. Don’t think you’re so great just because you brought a bunch of soldiers back. If you keep messing around, I, I’ll call the police!”
Lin Hai curled his lip.
“Call the police? Fine, go ahead. Call them right now!”
“You… don’t think I wouldn’t dare!” Saying this, Li Chusheng angrily pulled out his phone and actually dialed.
“Village Chief Li, you calling me for another drink?” Zhang Fan said with a smile.
“Chief Zhang, I, I want to report an incident!”
“Report an incident?” Li Chusheng’s words completely confused Zhang Fan.
Damn, isn’t it usually the villagers reporting the Li family?
How come the sun is rising in the west today? The Li family is reporting an incident? And you, the village chief, are reporting it personally?
After thinking for a moment, Zhang Fan understood. Damn, this must be about setting up some villager. He wants me to come over and intimidate them.
“Okay, be right there!” Zhang Fan was more than willing to go for this kind of thing. It let him show off his authority, and he’d get benefits from the Li family afterward. Only a fool wouldn’t go.
After groping a female police officer’s chest a couple more times, Zhang Fan set off with a few officers.
At the Lin family’s field, Li Chusheng hung up the phone.
“Hmph, Chief Zhang will be here any minute!”
Lin Hai just smirked. Since the police station was coming, he’d wait. He wanted to see what the police station could do to him.
Li San Leng, still trembling, had crawled back to his group, his eyes filled with shock and fear.
“San Leng, damn it, maybe we should call some people. Otherwise, we’re definitely getting screwed today.” The scrawny monkey sidled over again and whispered.
“Who would we call?” Li San Leng was too scared to even think straight.
“Fei Yangyang from the neighboring Yang Village, ‘Fearless Fei’! His crew dares to use knives.” The scrawny monkey said, a vicious glint in his eyes.
“Alright, you call him quickly. Promise them ten thousand afterwards!”
“Got it!” The scrawny monkey agreed and went off to make the call.
Before long, over a dozen motorcycles roared towards them.
Seeing them, the scrawny monkey’s eyes lit up.
“San Leng, Fei Yangyang and his guys are here!”
