She’s pretty quick…
But unfortunately, everything has already been resolved perfectly.
“I’m at a restaurant just outside the community. You take the main road into the community and look to your left – you’ll find it.”
“Don’t I need to check on the family bothered by the evil spirit first?”
Terezia sounded a bit confused.
“The evil spirit has already been eliminated by me. Just come on over.”
“Alright. Should I hang up the phone then?”
“No need. Keep it open until you find the place. It’ll make it easier to communicate.”
Easier for me to guide you if you get lost.
Su Fan held the phone to his ear while spreading out his spiritual sense.
Before long, he saw Terezia walking toward the restaurant, carrying a suitcase.
With one hand holding her phone to her ear, she looked to her left. The restaurant’s soft lighting fell upon her naturally beautiful, makeup-free face, making passersby who happened to see her unable to resist taking a second look.
“It’s not far ahead, just off to your side. I see you.”
Su Fan’s seat was right by the window. Terezia spotted him immediately, found the restaurant’s main entrance, and walked in.
Led by a waiter, she quickly found Su Fan’s table.
“Good evening, Mr. Su Fan.”
Terezia gave him a slight bow.
“The food will be here soon. Put your stuff down. We can talk while we eat.”
Su Fan lifted his chin slightly, motioning for Terezia to take the seat across from him.
Going by travel time, Terezia probably hadn’t eaten lunch to be able to get here before nightfall.
“Thank you for the hospitality.”
After expressing her thanks, Terezia did as Su Fan suggested and pulled out the chair to sit down.
“I’m sorry you had to handle the evil spirit alone. I still arrived too late.”
“The problem isn’t you. I’m used to exorcising on my own. If I’d notified you properly, you wouldn’t have been late.”
Su Fan said casually.
“Besides, that thing wasn’t anything formidable. No big deal.”
Terezia didn’t quite believe him.
The young man in front of her could even defeat an incarnate demon. An evil spirit he dismissed as “nothing formidable” was definitely no simple creature.
“Are there any dietary restrictions for nuns?”
Su Fan asked.
“The rules are different for each convent. The one I belong to doesn’t have anything too specific…”
“Except we can’t eat meat on Fridays.”
Terezia answered honestly.
Friday…
The day of Jesus’ crucifixion, huh.
Su Fan nodded.
It’s fine not having to adjust the menu either.
There weren’t many customers inside the restaurant, so adding an extra seat wouldn’t affect the speed.
After flagging down a waiter to give instructions, two appetizers were brought out right on time.
Su Fan didn’t immediately pick up his knife and fork. Instead, he waited for Terezia to finish her simple pre-meal prayer before officially starting to eat.
“Did everything go smoothly with the exorcism?”
Terezia took the initiative to ask Su Fan.
“Pretty well. Nothing particularly dangerous happened. Anna and her family are safe and sound.”
If getting knocked unconscious by a doll counts as an injury, that is.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done for them.”
“I took their money, so I got rid of their trouble. Ed and the others hired me, so I had to get it done. Nothing to thank me for.”
“No, Mr. Su Fan.”
Terezia disagreed with his words.
“Regardless of your motive, you saved Anna and her family. That’s a fact. Both the thanks and the payment are things you deserve.”
“If you hadn’t arrived in time, how much longer would they have had to suffer that evil spirit’s torment?”
Seeing that Terezia was holding her ground, Su Fan didn’t argue further and gave a slight nod to accept her statement.
“How much did Ed and Lorraine tell you about these three haunting cases?”
“Everything. I have a copy of the materials they put together, right in my suitcase.”
Su Fan glanced at her plate.
Terezia had already finished her appetizer, eating at about the same speed as him.
Looks like she really was hungry.
“Then which of the remaining two do you think we should handle first?”
“The family in the suburban villa… From the materials, that house they bought has seen a lot of deaths. If we put it off for too long, I’m worried something might go wrong.”
Terezia’s words proved she had definitely read the materials carefully.
As the only one among the three cases who had actually watched the entire movie, Su Fan knew the background of that house all too well.
“That place is pretty far from here. No way we’re making it there tonight.
Let’s rent a car tomorrow and drive over.”
Su Fan paused here for a moment.
“Do you have enough money for a motel?”
“Don’t worry, the bishop gave me a sufficient budget. A motel is more than fine.”
Looking at the confident Terezia, Su Fan gently rubbed his forehead.
Motels are full of all kinds of people. It’s fine for tough guys like Jamie and the Winchesters to stay there.
But someone like Terezia, who clearly isn’t familiar with the area, would probably get targeted before she even walked through the door.
“You’ll stay with me at a hotel. It’ll be easier for me to find you tomorrow morning. I’ll cover the room cost.”
While they were talking, the waiter cleared their appetizer plates and brought out the soup.
“Thank you for your generosity, but…”
“No need to refuse. Don’t you want to get to that suburban place as soon as possible and help that family get away from danger?”
“…Alright.”
After some internal struggle, Terezia nodded.
They paused their discussion about exorcism and focused on the soup in front of them.
“Do you have any special abilities?”
Su Fan asked suddenly after a while.
“Abilities… Does devout faith count?”
…So that’s a no…
Su Fan looked at Terezia, who was happily drinking her soup, and felt a bit puzzled.
What’s the Vatican thinking?
Sending a defenseless nun like this to assist with exorcisms.
Is it really just to test whether Terezia qualifies to become a full-fledged nun?
Isn’t that basically just sending her to her death?
The process of exorcism provokes fierce resistance from evil spirits and demons.
Both the people around and the exorcising priest are in danger of losing their lives.
Putting aside everything else, even just using telekinesis to fling something could kill someone.
While the waiter was bringing the main course dishes, Su Fan carefully sensed Terezia.
He still couldn’t find anything special about her.
Oh, well…
Su Fan gave up on further investigation and decided to focus on his meal.
Terezia across the table seemed to realize her eating pace was a bit too fast and deliberately slowed down, trying to match Su Fan’s speed.
Noticing her eyes continually darting toward his plate, Su Fan subtly sped up a little.
Terezia’s eyes lit up, and she went back to eating like before.
Just eat, you greedy little nun. Who can out-eat you anyway?
Su Fan couldn’t help but complain inwardly.
