“I’m not panicked at all. We’re both girls—why would I be?”
Baicha tilted her head, not understanding why Xia Xi would ask such a thing.
It wasn’t like she’d swapped with a guy. Between two girls, everything that should be there was there, and everything that shouldn’t be there wasn’t. What was there to freak out about?
Well, okay—Xia Xi did have a little something extra compared to Baicha, but that didn’t really matter.
“Look, look! That person actually came to school dressed like that—talk about thick-skinned.”
“Yeah, thick-skinned for sure, but don’t you think the cat ears and cat tail are totally adorable?”
“If only she could be my girlfriend—every night I’d grab those twin tails, or those cat ears and that tail, and ride that motorcycle nice and smooth. That’d be heaven.”
“Eww—gross!”
——-
After Xia Xi and Baicha left the infirmary, pretty much every student who saw them pointed and whispered.
No way around it—a catgirl getup with ears and a tail was basically one of a kind on campus.
You had to understand, schools these days were strict. Even the JK uniform Xia Xi’s original body wore was only allowed because the skirt was on the longer side. If it were one of those short JK skirts, he’d definitely be summoned to the dean’s office for tea.
What baffled Xia Xi the most was how Baicha’s body could waltz around in such a flirty sailor outfit without a single teacher batting an eye.
“See? See? Everyone’s saying how cute you are!”
Baicha was currently using Xia Xi’s body, which was essentially a younger, chibi version of Xia Yue—so it gave Xia Xi the strange illusion that he was looking at his own little sister.
Because Xia Yue was usually just as bubbly, chattering away by his side all day long.
This Baicha, fabricated by the system, had a personality quite different from Bai Xiaocha’s. It felt like a fusion of Bai Xiaocha’s looks and Xia Yue’s temperament.
“I’m using your body right now, so they’re saying you’re cute.”
Xia Xi shoved Baicha away as she tried to latch onto his arm, continuing forward with a deadpan expression.
“Hehe—you’re really cute too!”
Unfazed by being pushed off, Baicha shamelessly pressed herself against him again.
Hmph! What’s wrong with me clinging to my own body? You guys can just be jealous~
“Young miss! I went to the infirmary and couldn’t find you—didn’t expect you to be here.”
Uncle Liu—Baicha’s butler and bodyguard—had gone to the principal’s office to handle some paperwork for his young lady when he got word that she’d tumbled down the stairs and ended up in the infirmary.
He’d visited her there, then slipped out to the cafeteria to brew her a bowl of chicken soup. But when he returned with it, his young miss had vanished—he was frantic!
Thankfully, he soon spotted her strolling down the hallway with another girl.
“Uncle Liu, you’re here! Come meet my new friend!”
Baicha pushed Xia Xi forward, beaming with joy.
Uncle Liu frowned at this.
He was certain he didn’t know this girl—but her tone sounded oddly similar to his young lady’s?
And the way she called him “Uncle Liu”… had his young lady mentioned that during casual conversation?
Seeing Uncle Liu ignore her, Baicha pouted.
She’d forgotten—she was using Xia Xi’s body now. Uncle Liu had no idea who Xia Xi was.
So she gently poked Xia Xi in the side, signaling him to say something.
Xia Xi had been about to speak anyway, but that poke sent an indescribable ticklish jolt straight to his brain. Poking the waist was already bad enough—with doubled sensitivity, it was pure torture.
He took a deep breath to suppress the urge to burst out laughing.
“Uncle Liu, you should head back first. Come pick me up after school.”
Using what Baicha had called the man, Xia Xi naturally slipped out the name “Uncle Liu.” A girl with a butler-bodyguard combo was clearly from a wealthy family, so she’d definitely go home after school. Having Uncle Liu pick her up later made perfect sense.
“Yes, miss. Here’s some chicken soup I made for you—drink it while it’s hot?”
Although Uncle Liu felt his young lady’s voice was a bit colder than usual, seeing that familiar face left him with no suspicions.
He was just curious—where did she get those cat ear and tail accessories?
Eh, kids these days were into all sorts of wild stuff. As long as the young lady was happy, he shouldn’t poke his nose where it didn’t belong.
Xia Xi took the soup, brought it to his nose for a quick sniff, then took a small sip.
Slightly bitter, with the expected chicken soup aroma—not exactly undrinkable, but overall, pretty terrible.
Clearly, whoever made it had dumped in a ton of medicinal herbs and traditional Chinese ingredients.
Xia Xi didn’t feel like finishing it, so he glanced over at Baicha, who looked a little jealous.
“Here, you have it. I don’t want it.”
Baicha: “!”
She’d been feeling a bit sour that her dearest Uncle Liu had made soup for someone else—but now he was handing it right over to her!
Such fragrant, delicious chicken soup, and he was willing to give it away—truly, he was the best sister she’d found!
“Miss, this—”
“Uncle Liu, don’t worry. It was my fall that dragged this classmate into getting hurt too. It’s only right that she gets the soup to recover.”
Hearing Xia Xi’s explanation, Uncle Liu held his tongue, gave a slight bow, and left the school.
Somehow—probably the system’s doing—Baicha was in the exact same class as Xia Xi, which made it easy for the two to stay glued together.
Until school let out.
“Xia Xi! See you tomorrow, then?”
Baicha spotted that familiar black sedan parked at the school gate and started trotting toward it.
“Wait, wait! Where are you going?”
Xia Xi grabbed her arm, thoroughly confused.
“Home, duh. Uncle Liu’s already here to pick me up.”
Was this girl adorably clueless or just completely oblivious?
“We’ve swapped bodies right now—I’m Baicha. Uncle Liu’s here for me, you dummy.”
Hearing that, Baicha finally snapped to reality.
“Then what about me?”
She asked, hitting him with the existential question.
“You’re going to my home, obviously. Don’t worry—I’ve got three older sisters, and they’re all really nice.”
Since Xia Xi was currently the youngest in the family, having three older sisters made total sense.
“Alright, alright~”
Baicha shrugged, not bothered in the slightest. For her, living anywhere was the same—and a new place meant she’d get to discover tons of fun new things to play with!
