As Xu Ze looked toward the monitors, the experts and professors all followed his gaze with curiosity.
The moment they looked, they were stunned. General Zuma’s heartbeat was gradually slowing down. Earlier, due to the toxin’s stimulation, his heart rate had been maintained between 90 and 100 beats per minute. Now, it had dropped to 80, and it seemed to be continuing to decrease.
“What’s happening? What’s happening? Why is the heart rate slowing? Is it going to stop?” Professor Luo Qimei shot Xu Ze a sharp glare and cried out in alarm, “Quick, quick… prepare for resuscitation!”
Hearing Professor Luo’s shout, several doctors immediately sprang into action, bustling about in a flurry—some opening the crash cart, others grabbing medications…
“Stop what? Don’t panic and shout for no reason… See, it’s fine now!” Watching everyone scramble about in chaos, Xu Ze couldn’t help but snort softly. “I just lowered his metabolism to keep his body stable. It’s only natural for his heart rate to decrease.”
“What? How is that possible? Lower his metabolism? How could you possibly do that?” The experts and professors on the rescue team paused their actions and stared at the monitor in astonishment.
They saw that General Zuma’s heart rate was now holding steady at around 60 beats per minute, with no further decline. His blood pressure remained around 90/60 mmHg, exactly at the lowest end of normal vital signs.
“It really is like that…” Everyone stared intently at the monitor for a long time, but saw no further downward trend in the heart rate. It had completely stabilized at the minimum. This state would significantly reduce the body’s energy consumption and also slow the spread of the toxin.
“How did you do that? Just with these few silver needles?” Professor Luo Qimei stared at Xu Ze as if he were an alien, his eyes filled with shock and doubt. He simply couldn’t figure it out. Even with current technology, achieving such precise control would be extremely difficult. Yet this young man had done it with just a few silver needles. It was truly unbelievable to him.
Xu Ze shook his head and said calmly, “Don’t worry about how I did it. This treatment is very taxing. I still have a lot to do next. So, if you want to stay and watch, that’s fine, but please don’t make a racket and get in my way…”
“Make a racket? Get in your way?” Hearing this, Professor Luo Qimei’s face turned various shades of green and red. No one had ever spoken to him like that before. It made his old face flush. But for now, there was nothing he could do. After all, he had no way to treat General Zuma, while Xu Ze did.
This senior professor, shrewd as they come, took a deep breath and quickly regained his composure. He nodded and said, “Alright… then we’ll leave everything to you, Lieutenant Commander. We’ll just watch from the side and absolutely won’t disturb you again…”
After a brief hesitation, he added, “Um… if you need any help… just give us a shout.”
With that word from the head of the rescue team, the other experts nodded one after another and stepped back to watch, waiting for Xu Ze’s next move.
Now that the senior colleagues had stepped aside and wouldn’t disturb him, Xu Ze finally felt at ease. Channeling bioelectric energy to promote detoxification was no easy task. If anyone got in the way or caused trouble later, it would be extremely annoying.
He stepped forward again, extended his right hand, and gently grasped the needle at the Baihui acupoint, preparing to input energy. But then he hesitated for a moment, turned his head, and looked at the experts, giving them a concerned warning: “No matter what unusual things happen next, don’t move. Got it?”
Hearing Xu Ze’s words, the experts and professors exchanged glances and quickly nodded in agreement.
Once everyone had agreed, Xu Ze officially began channeling bioelectric energy, starting the process of clearing the toxin from the brain, as well as stimulating and revitalizing the brain cells.
Xu Ze closed his eyes slightly and allowed his spiritual awareness to penetrate along with the bioelectric energy. He began pushing the energy to stimulate the brain cells, detoxify them, and promote repair.
As his spiritual awareness probed deeper, he could faintly sense the location of the brain. It normally glowed with a faint white light, but now it had a slightly greenish tint.
Xu Ze furrowed his brow slightly. That greenish tint was the W1 toxin. Without further delay, he began driving the bioelectric energy to attack it.
Although the amount of W1 toxin in the brain wasn’t large, it had to be cleared as soon as possible. Otherwise, its continuous invasion would still damage most of the brain cells, making it harder for General Zuma to regain consciousness—or leaving him with memory loss or dementia even if he did wake up.
As Xu Ze drove the bioelectric energy to attack, the faint green fluorescence in the brain gradually began to dissipate under the assault.
Seeing this, Xu Ze was very satisfied. Bioelectric energy truly was a superior form of biological energy—it could even clear and assimilate biochemical toxins like this.
Meanwhile, the experts around him, watching Xu Ze’s forehead starting to sweat again, couldn’t help but feel puzzled once more: “What exactly is this kid doing? How can he sweat so much just by standing still?”
Just then, one of the doctors suddenly let out a low exclamation and pointed at the EEG monitor. “Look! The brain waves are starting to fluctuate wildly!”
“What’s going on? What’s causing this? Such intense fluctuations—is General Zuma about to wake up?” Professor Luo Qimei stared in shock at the rapidly fluctuating brain waves. After a moment of astonished thought, he looked at Xu Ze and wondered, “Is he causing this?”
Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Xu Ze, but he was too preoccupied to notice anything else. He exerted himself to the fullest for over ten minutes, layers of fine sweat beading on his forehead, until he finally managed to clear and assimilate the greenish fluorescence near the Baihui acupoint. But when he glanced at the energy reserve indicator in his virtual space—which had already consumed over forty percent—a bitter smile crossed his face. The results were good, but the energy consumption was truly painful to watch.
After letting out a soft sigh, Xu Ze finally opened his eyes, straightening up as the experts watched in stunned disbelief. He took the tissue handed to him by the nurse, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and plopped down on a nearby chair. He was utterly exhausted.
Professor Luo Qimei glanced at the gradually calming brainwave patterns as Xu Ze stopped, and her gaze towards him grew increasingly serious, no longer daring to show any contempt or doubt…
