“Slurp, munch~”
“Slow down. No one’s going to take it from you.”
Xia Yue handed another pan-fried bun to Xia Xi, and he gladly accepted it, gobbling it down in one big “ah-woom” bite.
That made Xia Yue burst out laughing, because he hadn’t even finished the last one yet, and here he was eagerly stuffing another into his mouth.
She’d never noticed before—just how food-obsessed her little sister was?
But hey, that’s fine. Her sister was at that growing age, so eating a bit more made sense~
Xia Yue glanced at her sister’s strong, almost masculine physique, then looked down at her own “flat little smartphone” of a chest.
She honestly couldn’t understand why two girls from the same family could have such different body types.
Was it because her sister ate more than she did?
Xia Xi was holding a small bag full of pan-fried buns, occasionally pulling one out and tossing it into his mouth.
For some reason, just like that time at the amusement park, he couldn’t walk past food without wanting it. Even though he’d only swapped heads—his body structure hadn’t changed at all.
Logically speaking, if his digestive system hadn’t been swapped, shouldn’t his appetite be the same as before?
“Ooh-la-la! Orleans-style roasted chicken legs! Nice and fragrant!”
The vendor’s shout was loud and clear. Xia Xi spotted the steaming little stall right away.
“I want that!”
Normally, if Xia Xi wanted something to eat, he’d just pay for it himself. But things were different now. Because of his identity change, all the royalties he’d earned with his own writing had been transferred into Xia Yue’s bank account.
Well, no helping it. Xia Yue was now the older one—basically his guardian.
“Call me ‘big sister,’ and I’ll buy it for you.”
Xia Yue stared at those big, sizzling, juicy chicken legs. She was craving them too.
But instead of walking up to buy one, she grinned and looked at her little sister, who had zero respect for her older sibling.
“No way!”
Call Xia Yue “big sister”? That would be turning things upside down! If he actually said that, where would his dignity as the older brother go?
Xia Yue heard his refusal, saw the stubborn look on his face, and her eyes twinkled mischievously. She walked straight over to the chicken leg stall and bought one fragrant, golden drumstick.
“Ahhh, this chicken leg smells so good~”
She held it by the bone, sniffed it near her nose, then waved it in front of Xia Xi’s face.
The rich, savory aroma drifted through the air and straight into Xia Xi’s nose.
Gulp.
Saliva slid down his throat. He stared at the chicken leg. Suddenly, his pan-fried buns didn’t seem so tasty anymore.
Dang it! Why did the system always have to give him such a foodie personality?!
Especially at a time like this, when Xia Yue held all the financial power. Was he really going to have to bow his head for some food?
“Mmm~ So good~ Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and when you bite into it—sizzle—the juices just burst out~”
Xia Yue took a bite and made an exaggeratedly blissful face.
“Too bad some people don’t like to eat~”
She shot a taunting look at her rebellious little sister.
Xia Xi tried not to look her way. But the image of that golden-brown chicken leg kept floating through his mind, and his adorable little head’s mouth kept watering uncontrollably.
Now he understood why he still felt like such a foodie even though his organs hadn’t been swapped. Come on—with all this drool, who wouldn’t want to stuff something delicious into their mouth?
“Bi… big sister…”
“What? I didn’t quite catch that~”
Seeing the pitiful, timid look on someone’s face, Xia Yue’s lips curled into a smug little smile.
For some reason, teasing this little sister gave her a huge sense of accomplishment—and not just any accomplishment. It felt almost like revenge.
It was weird. It was as if her little sister had bullied her in the past, and now she was finally getting back at her.
But in Xia Yue’s modified memories, her little sister had always been meek and timid, never bullying her. So she couldn’t figure out where this feeling of payback was coming from.
“I said, big sister, I want a chicken leg! Happy now?!”
There’s a saying: if you want to annoy someone, just add “happy now?!” at the end of your sentence.
Not sure if it’d make others mad, but Xia Yue definitely wasn’t having it.
“Looks like someone’s not too happy about calling me ‘big sister’~ What a shame. This delicious, fragrant chicken leg is about to be missed~”
“Xia Yue!!!”
“Yeees~ Dear little sister, does something need your big sister’s help~”
With that smug, punchable look on her face—if this were before, Xia Xi would’ve chopped her on the head without hesitation. But now, his first thought was: “Big sister is so mean! I hate her!”
Even he was shocked by the thought that popped into his head.
The system’s subtle method of changing his thoughts and habits was just too sneaky.
Especially now, with his current brain—which was 100% a little girl’s brain!
Feeling the curious stares from passersby, Xia Xi finally decided to swallow his pride—just this once.
“Big sister… buy it for me…”
It was still as quiet as a mosquito’s buzz, but this time, Xia Yue didn’t pretend not to hear. She understood the whole “give a carrot after the stick” thing and didn’t push him too hard.
Hehe~ Rebellious little sisters take time to train. No need to rush~
Having gotten her long-awaited “big sister,” Xia Yue cheerfully bought another chicken leg from the stall.
The moment Xia Xi bit into the chicken leg and that explosion of flavor hit his taste buds, he decided—that “big sister” had been totally worth it!
He hadn’t even finished the chicken leg when a little cart rolled by, with a vendor yelling, “Tangyuan rice cakes! Two bucks for twenty!”
“Big sister, I want that.”
Hearing Xia Xi call her that, Xia Yue felt like her smiling lips were never coming down today.
“Good girl~ You’re finally learning to call me ‘big sister’ on your own~”
She raised her hand over her head and gently patted Xia Xi’s head, like a real older sister showing pride in her little sister’s growth.
That’s when Xia Xi realized—he’d just swallowed his pride again and called her “big sister” completely on instinct. His own brain hadn’t even caught up before the words slipped out.
Once Xia Yue came back with the tangyuan rice cakes, Xia Xi immediately flipped the script. While munching on his food, and relying on his strong physique, he demanded that Xia Yue call him “big brother.”
“If you don’t say it, I’ll beat you up!”
Hearing such a threat in a soft, squishy little girl’s voice? Not intimidating at all.
Xia Yue didn’t cave to Xia Xi’s “brute force.” Instead, she led him right in front of a fried chicken shop.
“Oh my, what smells so good? Looks like big fried chicken cutlets and chicken tenders~ But someone doesn’t seem interested~”
Xia Xi: “…”
“Big sister…”
