Jiang Fei was completely caught off guard by this sudden announcement. He hadn’t expected anything like this to happen.
The shop system being unlocked meant he could now purchase various items like medicine, weapons, and martial arts manuals from the system, just like in a game!
This was… absolutely incredible!
He couldn’t quite remember how things worked in the Xia Ke Xing game anymore. He wasn’t sure if the shop system was only unlocked after reaching level three. In the game, leveling up at the beginning was ridiculously easy. Going from level 0 to level 10 could be done in a single day by completing main quests and killing a few monsters.
But in real life, it wasn’t that simple. He had to rely on various life skills to slowly gain experience, and it took him two whole months just to reach level three.
However, Jiang Fei didn’t have time to dwell on that now. Under Lin Molly’s strange, almost crazy-looking gaze, he took a deep breath, suppressing his excitement and joy. He quickly returned to the villa and announced, “I’ve had a sudden epiphany! I need to go write it down in my journal. Don’t disturb me!”
With that, he dashed upstairs and locked himself in his bedroom.
Trembling with anticipation, Jiang Fei pulled up his character attributes interface in his mind. First, he checked his stats. After reaching level three, he had gained 2 additional attribute points to distribute freely, and all his basic attributes had increased by 0.2.
As for the experience bar, he noticed something pleasantly surprising. His current experience was 2/3600. This meant that to go from level 3 to level 4, he only needed 3600 experience points—an increase of 1600 from the 2000 points required to go from level 2 to level 3, rather than doubling to 4000.
This indicated that the experience required for each subsequent level wouldn’t double every time!
This was great news. If the experience required kept doubling, it would have been a nightmare for Jiang Fei. The early levels would have been manageable, but as he progressed, leveling up would have become nearly impossible. Each level would require more experience than all the experience he had earned up to that point combined!
For example, if the experience kept doubling, by the time Jiang Fei reached level 10, he would need 256,000 experience points to level up again!
Two hundred and fifty-six thousand experience points—what kind of insane number was that? It was downright terrifying! Jiang Fei felt like it would take him years to accumulate that much experience. Just thinking about it was overwhelming.
And that was just to reach level 10. What about level 20?
262,144,000!
Even rounding down, that’s 260 million experience points!
At that point, forget leveling up—just go to sleep!
Even if Jiang Fei treated the entire world as his single-player game, there was no way he could earn that much experience. So if the experience required kept doubling, Jiang Fei would hit a wall after a few levels and be stuck forever, with no hope of acquiring those coveted martial arts manuals.
Thankfully, the system wasn’t that cruel. After reaching level three, the rule of doubling experience with each level was broken.
Discovering this uplifting fact, Jiang Fei quickly calmed his excitement. He didn’t rush to open his level-up reward or distribute his attribute points. Instead, he slowly clicked on the flashing shop icon in the upper right corner of his interface.
What kind of treasures would the system shop have?
And what would he need to use to purchase items?
Would it require in-game gold coins? But where would he get gold coins in the real world? Would he have to buy real gold and mint it into coins to use in the shop? That would be way too extravagant!
Jiang Fei certainly didn’t have the financial means to play around like that.
Countless thoughts raced through his mind. After a brief one-second buffer, the shop interface finally appeared in Jiang Fei’s mind.
Whoosh!
Jiang Fei was stunned as he saw the grid-like interface filled with various colorful, glowing items that seemed ready to be pulled out at any moment.
The layout was similar to what he remembered from the game, but since it was in his mind, it felt more real. The items shimmered with vibrant colors, making them seem almost tangible, as if he could reach out and grab them at any time.
The first page displayed was the medicine section.
At the top were various types of knockout drugs.
There were the lowbrow ones like Love Potion, Ecstasy Powder, and I Love a Stick; and the more sophisticated ones like Ten Fragrance Soft Tendon Powder and Sadness and Sorrow Breeze.
Jiang Fei was dumbfounded.
What the hell? Is the system serious?
Why is it showing me all this stuff? And the styles don’t even match!
Ten Fragrance Soft Tendon Powder and Sadness and Sorrow Breeze were at least legitimate knockout drugs from Jin Yong’s martial arts novels.
But I Love a Stick? That’s straight out of Stephen Chow’s Royal Tramp! It’s a freaking aphrodisiac!
Despite his complaining, Jiang Fei had no choice but to accept the system’s setup. He had no control over it. Besides, who knows? Maybe I Love a Stick would come in handy someday. Better to be prepared.
He continued scrolling down.
The next section contained actual medicinal pills.
Small Recovery Pill, Great Recovery Pill, Bezoar Blood Clotting Pill, White Cloud Bear Gall Pill, Nine Flower Jade Dew Pill, Black Jade Continuous Ointment, Three Corpse Brain Pill…
There were dozens of different pills with various effects, covering almost every possible ailment. The selection was incredibly comprehensive.
Even the Summon Evolution Potion Jiang Fei had obtained from a level-up reward was listed here.
Jiang Fei’s mouth watered as he read the names of these pills. He wished he could just pull them out of the system and claim them as his own. He was grinning from ear to ear, unable to contain his joy.
Thankfully, he had locked himself in his bedroom. If Qiao Yiyi had seen him like this, she probably would have freaked out and called an ambulance!
Jiang Fei’s excitement took a while to subside. This was truly a game-changer—it felt like he was about to go super-saiyan!
After about three or four minutes of meticulously examining the medicine section, Jiang Fei finally moved on to the next category—weapons!
“Holy crap!”
As soon as he opened the weapons section, Jiang Fei couldn’t help but exclaim. His eyes widened, and he was momentarily stunned.
The weapons section was filled with all sorts of legendary, awe-inspiring weapons: Ice Soul Silver Needle, Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needle, Seven Star Bone-Piercing Needle, Crescent Moon Scimitar, Heavenly Sword, Dragon Slaying Saber, Dog Beating Staff, Meteor Iron Heavy Sword, Li’s Flying Dagger…
Jiang Fei’s heart didn’t race—it practically stopped.
This was too overwhelming. He felt like he couldn’t breathe.
Could he really exchange for these items?
This was straight-up cheating!
Even when he played Xia Ke Xing, he had never heard of these legendary weapons being available in the shop for players to purchase.
If this were possible in the game, what would be the point? Everyone would just run around with Dragon Slaying Sabers and Heavenly Swords, slashing at each other.
Jiang Fei’s system was already breaking the rules of the Xia Ke Xing game!
“Damn, is my character system some kind of internal developer version? Otherwise, how could it be this overpowered?” Jiang Fei couldn’t help but complain despite being overjoyed. He felt an overwhelming sense of power, as if he could take on ten opponents—no, the entire universe!
This was just too absurd, too broken.
If he could exchange for Li’s Flying Dagger in the future, would that mean he’d instantly master the legendary flying dagger technique? Or would Li Xunhuan temporarily possess him whenever he used the dagger?
“Wait, what about the Dog Beating Staff?” Jiang Fei looked at the green jade staff, puzzled. It didn’t seem like a particularly valuable weapon.
Would exchanging for it make him the leader of the Beggar Sect?
That didn’t seem very useful.
“Wait, no. The Dog Beating Staff could actually be profitable!” Jiang Fei suddenly realized something. The staff might still have its uses.
In modern society, there were still plenty of beggars, and many of them were high earners—far surpassing the average office worker. It was said that some could make tens of thousands of dollars a month.
If Jiang Fei could command all the beggars with the Dog Beating Staff and have them pay him half their earnings, his monthly income might even surpass that of running a hospital—potentially reaching tens of millions!
Putting aside this lucrative thought for now, Jiang Fei clicked on the final category in the shop—martial arts manuals!
“Well, well. This is definitely cheating.” Jiang Fei was still amazed, though not as excited as before.
Sure enough, the page was filled with all sorts of top-tier martial arts manuals.
Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms, Six Meridian Divine Sword, North Sea Divine Skill, Lonely Nine Swords, Everlasting Life Technique, Compassionate Sword Scripture, Heavenly Demon Strategy…
