The new functions that appeared after the Super Medic System upgrade weren’t limited to just these aspects. As a Super Medic, although levels three and below were still considered junior, beyond medical functions, the necessary combat support features were also essential.
The biological imaging function and the small laser generator delighted Xu Ze so much he couldn’t stop admiring them.
Xu Ze’s glasses now had more and more features. From viewing human organs and internal structures to 3D projection and biological scanning, along with shape-shifting capabilities, they could be described as incredibly sleek.
As for the ring, besides functions like electric shock, shape-shifting, and virtual projection, it now also had a powerful offensive weapon: a laser generator. Even though it was a small one, seeing that thin red beam shoot out from the ring still excited him greatly.
This small laser generator was like a compact cutting tool. It could cut through any object within one meter of the ring in the form of a beam. It could also perform high-temperature cauterization under precise control. Not only was it an essential tool for breaking through barriers, but it was also a powerful close-combat weapon. If Xu Ze used it, it seemed unstoppable against any cold weapon currently in use within a meter and a half.
However, it didn’t seem like he would have many opportunities to use it right now. Xu Ze touched the ring and sighed softly. Aside from two serious incidents where he had to fight for real, he hadn’t really needed to use such a lethal weapon. It felt like having a diamond drill but no porcelain to work on.
But then Xu Ze thought differently: not needing it was a good thing. Every encounter had been dangerous. The first time it was three against one, and the second time was even more interesting, running into those Japanese ninjas. Although he hadn’t come out worse off, the first time he was scared out of his wits, almost putting Tao Yiyi in harm’s way.
Xu Ze chuckled softly, shook his head, and turned back to his room to shower.
Every advancement brought tremendous benefits. From physical enhancement to new features, and the increased system energy storage capacity, all contributed to Xu Ze’s growing personal strength.
For him now, he was better than average doctors at treating common illnesses. As for conditions currently considered incurable, he mostly had no solutions.
Although his basic medical knowledge contained records on treating these terminal illnesses, most of the treatment methods were beyond his reach.
This was because the medications and treatment techniques involved largely didn’t exist with current technology. So Xu Ze could only sigh with longing.
However, after advancing to Level Three Medic, the next step was Level Four Medic. Level Four Medic was already considered intermediate and could be called a Medical Officer.
Relatively speaking, to advance to Level Four Medic, achieving Knowledge Level Two was necessary. That meant Xu Ze would soon start studying intermediate medical knowledge.
This intermediate medical knowledge was no longer basic. It would truly begin to demonstrate the value of a Super Medic. Basic medical knowledge only covered general disease diagnosis and treatment, while intermediate medical knowledge involved more advanced concepts.
It mainly dealt with the pathological analysis and treatment of various severe diseases, along with many aspects of advanced pharmacology. There was also intermediate battlefield medicine, focusing on treating combat injuries using only the medic’s own equipment.
These things were quite headache-inducing for Xu Ze to study, but relatively speaking, they were also extremely useful. Many of these severe diseases were currently incurable in modern times. But if Xu Ze learned these things, combined with advanced pharmacology, if he was willing, he could even develop many medications that didn’t exist yet to treat diseases considered terminal today.
So Xu Ze now prepared himself for the deluge of knowledge from Xiao Dao. He needed to complete learning this knowledge as quickly as possible to reach Knowledge Level Two, enabling him to advance to Level Four Medic, also known as Level Four Medical Officer.
Level Four Medic was no simple matter. Compared to Level Three Medic, it represented a major milestone. In Xiao Dao’s era, Level Four Medic was already a major rank in the Star Corps, holding considerable honor and authority.
Super Medics at Level Four and above were called Medical Officers. They possessed the capability to truly execute interstellar combat missions and could join a Star Corps as an independent unit’s Medical Officer.
A unit Medical Officer held a position second only to the unit leader in importance. Besides having formidable medical capabilities and being responsible for medical care, they also needed powerful individual combat abilities to rescue others under fire while providing medical treatment. Additionally, they required strong analytical and detection capabilities, serving as the unit’s strategic brain.
They could achieve such capabilities mainly because they possessed the Super Medic System, a powerful auxiliary system that enabled basic medical care, rescue, reconnaissance, command, and other functions. This was the reason this type of soldier was called “super.”
Xu Ze’s goal was at least to reach Level Four Medic in the short term. As a soldier capable of interstellar combat, Level Four Medic was already an extremely advanced existence compared to current Earth. At minimum, he wouldn’t have to fear simple armed threats. At Level Four Medic status, with sufficient energy, as long as he wasn’t directly hit by heavy armor-piercing rounds or similar weapons, he would be safe.
Moreover, a Level Four Medic’s medical capabilities would be a qualitative leap compared to the present. With Level Four Medic abilities, Xu Ze believed he could treat most common diseases, except certain special conditions.
Of course, Level Four Medic was still quite distant for Xu Ze. He hadn’t yet predicted when he might break through to that level, but deep down, he knew that achieving this milestone within a year would already be an outstanding accomplishment.
After showering, Xu Ze felt eager to test his D-class physique and the new features. However, at home, this wasn’t possible. So after showering, washing away the sweat and impurities his body had expelled during the physical enhancement after breaking through, he changed clothes and headed downstairs.
The elevator quickly descended to the first floor, and Xu Ze began jogging slowly toward North Lake. Under the night sky, North Lake was extremely peaceful. Xu Ze checked the time. It was past two in the morning. There probably wouldn’t be anyone around North Lake now, perfect for testing the capabilities of his Level Three Medic status.
Xu Ze strode forward, agilely vaulted over a wall separating the residential area from North Lake Park, and entered.
Once inside the park, Xu Ze gradually increased his speed. Having just achieved D-class physique, he felt light and full of energy with nowhere to release it. So he opened up his stride and dashed forward rapidly.
Feeling the wind whistle past his ears, Xu Ze shouted softly and accelerated again, sprinting forward along the lake. He wanted to know what speed his D-class physique could achieve.
“Average 9.5 meters per second,” Xiao Dao’s voice sounded calmly.
Hearing this, Xu Ze was delighted. Maintaining such an average speed was already incredibly powerful. D-class physique was indeed extraordinary.
After running for a while, Xu Ze finally slowed to a stop. He had been sprinting for over ten minutes, yet his complexion remained normal, his breathing hardly accelerated. Xu Ze was secretly thrilled.
Then he found a tree as thick as a person could embrace. Standing before it, Xu Ze took a light breath, shouted softly, and threw a powerful punch.
As the punch landed, a dull thud sounded. The massive tree shook violently from Xu Ze’s blow, raining leaves to the ground. Watching the leaves fall overhead, Xu Ze looked at his fist with surprise. D-class physique was terrifying—his punch packed such power.
Xu Ze shook his head slightly. He now roughly understood his physical condition, so he began testing two new system features.
First was the laser generator. Its function resembled something from a James Bond film, similar to a feature on Bond’s watch. Xu Ze gently swept his finger diagonally across a half-person-high, foot-wide stone in front of him. A faint red light flashed, followed by a soft “sizzling” sound, and the top portion of the stone silently slid off.
“Incredible…” Xu Ze picked up the stone and examined the perfectly smooth cut surface, sighing in amazement.
After testing the laser generator, next was the new biological imaging function.
Following Xu Ze’s command, a faint shimmer passed across his glasses’ lenses. The patch of forest near the lake rapidly changed colors. In the previously dark woods, large trees appeared in Xu Ze’s vision with a faint green glow. As he scanned around, several faint red shadows gradually appeared on the ground.
Xu Ze looked at the red shadows curiously. The image before him suddenly transformed, shifting from a cross-section to a 3D view. Now Xu Ze could see the faint red shadows quickly rendered realistically. In the dark soil, two basketball-sized cavities appeared, containing several brown, furry creatures—actually a few rats sleeping in underground burrows two feet deep.
“This can see that clearly…” Xu Ze was stunned. Being able to see two feet underground meant that, theoretically, he could see through walls as well.
