Half an hour later, the person who opened the door finally ushered Ye Shaohua, Ye Cheng, and the others inside.
The Li family was evidently an influential military family; just the soldier standing guard at the entrance signaled their status was far from ordinary.
A group of soldiers, their auras tinged with the metallic scent of blood, stood posted at the main gate.
Ye Cheng and Du Man were so nervous they didn’t know where to put their hands and feet.
“Change your shoes,” a servant barked, eyeing the shoes on Ye Cheng’s feet, stained with grease and dust. “This is a two-million-yuan carpet imported from abroad by the Old Madam. What if you dirty it?”
Hearing “two million,” Ye Cheng and Du Man flinched instinctively, utterly frozen, unsure where to even step.
They timidly changed their shoes.
Inside, a middle-aged woman of striking beauty, dressed in long sleeves and waiting on the sofa, stared at Ye Cheng, her eyes wide. “Brother?”
The siblings had been separated in their teens, and their appearances hadn’t changed drastically since.
Ye Zhenzhen, in particular, bore some resemblance to Ye Shaohua.
Forgetting the Li family’s opulent atmosphere, Ye Cheng rushed over to Ye Zhenzhen excitedly. “Zhenzhen! Your brother finally found you! It’s been over twenty years. I thought I’d never see you again in this lifetime!”
Du Man, seeing Ye Cheng’s tears of joy, also smiled.

“Speak. How much money do you want?” The old lady cast a careless glance over Ye Shaohua and the other two, clearly not taking Ye Zhenzhen’s poor relatives seriously.
Ye Cheng awkwardly rubbed his hands together. “We’re not here for money, we just—”
“Enough, spare me the act. You just want to get something out of this before you leave, don’t you?” The old lady clearly couldn’t be bothered with Ye Cheng. “I’m asking you, Ye Zhenzhen, Li Min, have you thought it through? Still refusing to sign the divorce papers?”
Hearing the old lady’s words, Ye Zhenzhen’s face changed color. Li Min shrunk her neck in fear.
Ye Cheng was stunned. “Little Sister, what’s going on? You’re getting a divorce?”
“My marriage with Li Kai is a military marriage. If you want to force a divorce, you have to ask him first!” Ye Zhenzhen merely patted Ye Cheng’s shoulder reassuringly, not explaining what was really happening. “My brother is here today. I don’t have time to discuss this with you now.”
“Military marriage? So what if it is?” A well-dressed woman next to the old lady sneered. Well-preserved, she showed almost no signs of aging.
Ye Zhenzhen took a deep breath. “What exactly do you want?”
“Simple. Divorce Li Kai, leave S City, and never see him again,” the woman said with a smile. “Then, leave your daughter here. My son has taken a liking to her!”
“Over my dead body!” Ye Zhenzhen was so angry her chest heaved.
Everyone knew the Yu family’s young master was a notorious thug.
The media didn’t dare report it, but Ye Zhenzhen knew that young master Yu had played a part in the deaths of several women, all hushed up by the Yu family. Handing Li Min over to them was no different than sending her to her death.
“You shut up,” the Li family old lady snapped at Ye Zhenzhen. “You and your daughter have been freeloading off our Li family for all these years. What’s wrong with contributing something to our family for once?”
Then she turned to the woman affectionately. “I’ll have Minmin sent to the Yu family right away.”
Ye Cheng finally understood a little. Furious, he said to Ye Zhenzhen, “Little Sister, are these people bullying you? Let’s go. We’ll call the police.”
Hearing this, the old lady and the Yu family woman seemed to find it hilarious.

Seeing Ye Shaohua still smiling, and looking again at Ye Cheng and Du Man’s clothes, Ye Zhenzhen knew they simply didn’t understand the influence these people wielded.
The old lady and the Yu family members heard her. The well-dressed woman didn’t even look at Ye Shaohua, Ye Cheng, or the others, simply issuing an order. “Take Li Min to the Young Master first.”
Two soldiers immediately entered from outside.
