Ye Shaohua didn’t speak. She simply stood by the door.
Ye Eldest Brother and the others had worked all night for nothing, leaving them in a sour mood. They didn’t bother talking to Ye Shaohua either.
“What’s your name?” Ye Eldest Brother glanced at her.
Ye Shaohua answered dutifully.
“Shaohua? The three talents are earth, water, and metal—indicating great potential. However, the five elements and numerology suggest numerous misfortunes, destined to face countless obstacles before achieving greatness,” Ye Eldest Brother said coolly. “For a family of feng shui masters, this is considered an auspicious fate. Clearly, your parents had high hopes for you.”
After speaking, he turned to leave. Only when he reached the staircase did he look back at Ye Shaohua and add, “What a pity that such a name belongs to you.”
The implication was obvious—Ye Shaohua didn’t deserve such a fine name.
They had worked tirelessly all night, only for Ye Shaohua to ruin everything unintentionally. Despite his usual composure, even Ye Eldest Brother couldn’t hide his frustration.
“Eldest Brother…” Ye Shaohua opened her mouth, intending to tell him that the spirit was inside her mirror.
But before she could explain, he had already walked away, leaving her with nothing but his retreating back.
As Ye Second Sister passed by, she shot Ye Shaohua an icy smirk. “If you ruin things for us again tomorrow, it won’t end well for you.”
Ye Shaohua wasn’t a masochist. She had never been one to grovel for attention, and she certainly wouldn’t start now.
Since the Ye siblings were treating her this way, she saw no reason to tell them about the ghostly bride in the mirror.
Even the usually composed Ye Eldest Brother and the hot-tempered Second Sister had lost their patience with her. Even Uncle Lin, who had initially sympathized with Ye Shaohua, now regarded her coldly.
“We’ll talk to Mr. Fu tomorrow,” Ye Eldest Brother said with a deep breath.
Uncle Lin tidied up the mess downstairs before heading upstairs to follow Ye Eldest Brother’s instructions.
“By the way, what’s the deal with that Ye Shaohua?” Ye Eldest Brother asked, his expression darkening as he recalled their failed plan. “Did you investigate her background before bringing her here?”
Many people coveted the treasures left behind by the Ye ancestors, so Ye Eldest Brother had to be cautious. He wondered if Ye Shaohua had ulterior motives.
After all, tonight’s incident had been far too coincidental.
“I already looked into her,” Uncle Lin replied, shaking his head. “Her background checks out.”
“Then why…?”
“Young Master, you might not know this,” Uncle Lin explained, “but when I went to fetch the Third Miss, she was the only one in her home. Do you know where she was living?”
Without waiting for an answer, he continued, “A coffin apartment. Living in such a place severely affects one’s fortune. If not for the protective talismans left by her parents, she wouldn’t have survived more than two months in that room.”
His point was clear—Ye Shaohua knew nothing about feng shui, and her interference hadn’t been intentional.
Hearing this, Ye Eldest Brother’s expression softened slightly.
The next day, the Ye siblings went up the mountain to relocate their ancestral grave. The task was solemn, so much so that even the usually hostile Second Sister wore a serious expression. To prevent Ye Shaohua from causing trouble again, they didn’t allow her to join them.
“This mountain used to be a burial ground for corpses. After relocating the grave, the feng shui here will change,” Uncle Lin warned Ye Shaohua. “Do not set foot here after 6 PM. Once the grave is moved, we’ll return to the Ye family estate.”
Ye Shaohua understood the mountain’s feng shui better than Uncle Lin.
She spent the entire day observing the mountain’s energy from below. When she saw the auspicious aura shift into something ominous, she knew the grave relocation had been completed.
Just as she was about to return to the villa, she spotted a group of people preparing to enter the mountain.
It was already past 5 PM. If they went in now, the mountain’s feng shui array would undoubtedly affect them.
Ordinary people like them wouldn’t stand a chance.
If she hadn’t seen them, she might have ignored it. But now that she had, she couldn’t just let them walk into danger. Besides, if they died because of the Ye family’s actions, the family would bear the karmic consequences.
Lin Weiwei and her group were top students from a prestigious university, accompanying their professor to collect research data on South Mountain.
“CEO Xu has generously funded this project,” the professor said proudly to his seven star students. “Once this is completed, your reputations in the industry will soar.”
The students were thrilled.
Lin Weiwei followed the professor humbly, never expecting to run into Ye Shaohua here. “Shaohua? What are you doing here?”
Meeting a lone girl in the wilderness was strange, even for the professor and his team.
“I’m here for personal matters,” Ye Shaohua replied, checking the time. “Professor, must you enter the mountain now? It’s getting late, and with three girls in the group, it could be dangerous.”
The professor didn’t know Ye Shaohua, but the other students did—especially since her striking looks were hard to forget. However, rumors about her mental instability had also spread.
“It’s the 21st century. With so many of us, what danger could there possibly be?”
Ye Shaohua frowned. “Some things can’t be explained by science—”
“Oh, right—science can’t explain everything, and ghosts exist, right?” Lin Weiwei cut in, exasperated. “Shaohua, I’m not targeting you, but it’s the 21st century. There’s no such thing as ghosts. You can act crazy at home, but must you do it in public too?”
She then turned to the professor. “Professor, I apologize. This is my friend. She’s been like this since childhood. Please don’t mind her.”
