With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 9
“Alright, everyone, go get lunch. Class is dismissed.”
With the teacher’s announcement, the third-year students bolted out of the classroom as if possessed by Usain Bolt’s spirit.
It was already noon, and after four straight classes in the morning, they were more than ready to devour a delicious meal.
“Xue Ning, Xue Ning? Wake up, class is over. How are you still sleeping?”
A few girls gathered around Lin Xue Ning, gently nudging her to rouse her from her slumber.
Seeing this, Xia Xi quickly swapped the little cat in his arms back with Lin Xue Ning’s body. If he had been any slower, her roommates might have heard the refined young lady meowing like a kitten.
Once the swap was complete, Lin Xue Ning slowly stirred awake. She rubbed her numb arm—stiff from being pressed against the desk for so long—and then spoke softly to the girls beside her.
“Huh? Class is over already? Um, you guys go ahead for lunch. I’m not hungry yet. I’ll just grab some bread later.”
Having been the cat earlier, she had kept an eye on her own body the whole time. Now that she was back, she wasn’t completely lost.
“Alright, we’ll head out first, then.”
The girls didn’t press further. After a few polite words, they left the classroom, chatting and laughing.
“Did you enjoy petting the cat?”
Xia Xi figured his role here was done, so he got up to return the still-sleeping “Cat Senpai” to the windowsill.
But the moment he stood, a voice dripping with resentment rang out.
“Oh, I enjoyed it very much. Want a turn?”
Xia Xi didn’t mind at all—he even offered the cat to Lin Xue Ning.
“Hmph! You pervert, you degenerate! How could you lay your hands on an innocent little cat?!”
Xia Xi was baffled.
As far as he remembered, all he’d done was stroke the cat’s fur and double-check whether Cat Senpai was really female. How did that make him a pervert?
“Don’t go throwing accusations around. Cat Senpai didn’t complain, so who are you to judge? And let’s not forget—someone here scolded others for sleeping in class, only to end up snoozing away herself.”
Giving Lin Xue Ning a strange look, he continued,
“What’s really weird is how you knew what I did to the cat the second you woke up. Did you dream about me or something? They say dreams reflect what’s on your mind—so does that mean Class Rep Lin thinks about me all the time?”
Lin Xue Ning was fuming. She sat frozen in her seat, biting her lip, fists clenched so tight they trembled. Her eyes shimmered with something perilously close to tears.
This jerk, this absolute scoundrel! He touched every inch of my body, and now he’s acting like nothing happened? And even cracking dirty jokes?!
She was beyond aggrieved.
Not only had she been turned into a cat and groped by this guy, but now she was being teased into speechlessness.
Then again, she had accused him the moment she woke up. From an outsider’s perspective, she’d been asleep the whole time—she shouldn’t have known anything.
She also wanted to demand that Xia Xi delete that photo from his phone, but she was afraid of exposing her cat transformation. In the end, she stayed silent.
Fine, let him keep that stupid photo. Consider it charity. Who cares if he goes home and does… things… to it like those disgusting guys online?
“None of your business! Get lost, you creep!”
Red-faced with anger, she stomped her foot, grabbed her textbooks from the desk, and stormed off.
“Meow?”
The little cat in Xia Xi’s arms stirred awake from the commotion. He gently stroked its head and whispered, “Don’t worry, Senpai, this has nothing to do with you. Go back to sleep.”
With that, he placed the cat—now with one bizarre experience under its belt—back on the windowsill, packed up his things, and headed home.
1:00 PM
“You’re here?”
Luo Xinyu’s soft voice echoed in his mind. Xia Xi nodded. “Why do you sound so eager?”
“Of course I’m eager! I’ve been waiting all morning—I thought you weren’t coming.”
Her tone carried a hint of delight.
Even though he was the one controlling her body, she didn’t mind. He was one of her few friends, after all.
“Oh, by the way, the towel’s right next to you. Make sure to dry off after your bath, or you’ll catch a cold. And your clothes are on the bed—don’t forget to put them on later.”
Hearing this, Xia Xi suddenly realized—this girl was taking a bath right now?!
Who takes a bath at 1 PM?! Was she setting me up?!
The sensation of water clinging to his (or rather, her) skin made him deeply uncomfortable.
“Telling me this is pointless! Do it yourself!”
Shaking his head to dispel any inappropriate thoughts, Xia Xi decided to swap back immediately and return only after the young lady had finished freshening up.
He wasn’t exactly a saint, but he did have principles. Peeking at her body, bathing her, or dressing her? No thanks.
Luo Xinyu, who had been waiting for him to dry “her” off, suddenly regained control of her body.
She looked down at her reflection in the water and giggled.
What a pure-hearted boy. It’s just changing clothes—was he really so shy he ran away?
Smiling to herself, she scooped up water and let it trickle down her neck before it dripped back into the bathtub.
“Miss, are you done bathing?”
Hearing Luo Xinyu’s laughter, the maid waiting in the room assumed she had finished and spoke up.
That’s right—as a young lady who couldn’t use her legs, bathing naturally required assistance.
Drying off and changing clothes? She never had to do any of that herself.
Her earlier comment about Xia Xi wrapping himself in a towel and changing on the bed? Just a playful tease.
As a modern woman, she wasn’t well-socialized and came off as naive, but that didn’t mean she was clueless.
The internet was a treasure trove of information—unlike sheltered noblewomen of the past, she knew plenty.
But wait, if the internet’s so vast, couldn’t she make friends online? Especially as a wealthy heiress—wouldn’t just hinting at her status attract a swarm of admirers?
Luo Xinyu would scoff at that.
Online friends? Real friends?
Besides, she barely used social media. Her most frequented sites were search engines—for looking up information and courses.
“Yes, I’m done. Could you help me change? Thank you.”
Even toward her paid maid, Luo Xinyu remained unfailingly polite.
This attitude, however, led to mixed reactions among the staff. Some found her kindness endearing, while others saw it as weakness—creating a stark divide.
“You’re too kind, Miss. It’s my duty.”
