With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 32
“Xuening, wake up! Class is over.”
Several of Lin Xuening’s roommates gathered around her as she slept soundly, gently shaking her arm in an attempt to rouse their class monitor, who had once again dozed off during class.
“Xia Xi, did you drug our dear class monitor or something? How come she always ends up sleeping so deeply when she sits next to you?” one of the girls joked.
Xia Xi merely chuckled, scratching the belly of the kitten nestled in his arms without offering an explanation.
He wasn’t in a hurry—after all, his part-time job didn’t start until after 2 p.m., so he could just head straight to dishwashing later. But Lin Xuemiao (Lin “Snow Cat”) was starting to panic.
“Meow?”
(Why haven’t we switched back yet this time? Am I stuck as a cat forever?)
Watching her friends still trying to wake up her original body, she couldn’t help but let out a few anxious meows.
Fortunately, their persistence paid off, and the sleeping “Cat Xuening” was forcibly roused by her roommates.
With half-lidded eyes, she stretched both arms over her head, arching her back in a classic feline pose.
“Meeeooww~~~”
A clear, melodious meow escaped from Cat Xuening’s mouth, startling her roommates into taking a collective step back.
Seeing this, Xia Xi quickly stepped forward and covered Cat Xuening’s mouth.
“Why don’t you all go ahead to lunch? There’s something I need to discuss with our esteemed class monitor,” he said.
The roommates shot a suspicious glance at Cat Xuening, who was struggling like a kitten, even trying to kick Xia Xi with her feet. But in the end, they decided to leave.
After all, they were still on campus, inside a classroom with surveillance cameras—no matter what, Lin Xuening wouldn’t be in any real danger.
If these two had some private matters to talk about, why stick around and intrude?
Who knows… maybe he’s planning to confess his feelings? If that were the case, staying would just make them third wheels.
“Don’t you dare bully our Xuening, okay?”
The shortest of the roommates blinked, shaking a tiny fist at Xia Xi as a warning before finally leaving.
Once everyone was gone, Xia Xi finally released his hand from Cat Xuening’s mouth.
“Ugh, so much drool!”
He wrinkled his nose in disgust, pulling out a tissue to wipe the saliva from his palm—saliva that belonged to Lin Xuening’s body.
“Class Monitor Lin, what’s with the act? Cosplaying a kitten? Give it up—you’re nowhere near as cute as a real one.”
Since Lin Xuemiao was still present, he had to play dumb.
As he spoke, he lifted Lin Xuemiao by her armpits, bringing her face-to-face with him. His eyes narrowed slightly as he stared into the feline gaze of the real Lin Xuening, who was currently inhabiting the kitten’s body, feigning an expression of exaggerated fondness.
Lin Xuemiao felt her heartbeat skip a beat and quickly turned her little cat head away, not daring to meet the gaze of this troublemaker.
“Oh? You can even get shy, little cat?”
Placing her back on his lap, Xia Xi deliberately scratched her belly a few times, leaving his hand covered in cat fur.
Meanwhile, Cat Xuening—now in Lin Xuening’s human body—blinked curiously at its surroundings.
It didn’t understand why the world looked so different now.
Tilting its head, it stuck out a pink tongue and licked the back of its (Lin Xuening’s) fair hand.
“Meow?”
Even with a human body, it still couldn’t speak human language. All it could do was mimic a cat’s vocalizations using Lin Xuening’s vocal cords.
“Seriously? You’re really getting into character, huh?”
Since there was no one else around, Xia Xi was genuinely curious to see what else the cat might do in Lin Xuening’s body, so he wasn’t in a rush to switch them back.
Still, he had to keep up appearances—he couldn’t let Lin Xuening figure out that the body-swapping was his doing.
“Meow meow?”**
Cat Xuening stopped licking its hand and suddenly pounced at Xia Xi.
Caught off guard, he instantly toppled backward onto the floor.
The Lin Xuemiao in his arms was accidentally flung aside in the process.
From Lin Xuemiao’s perspective, the scene looked like a classic romantic trope—a girl pinning a boy down in a “girl on top” position.
“Meow?!”
(No way! I—I just pinned Xia Xi down?!?!)
It was hard to imagine a cat’s face displaying such clear shock, but there it was.
Even though it wasn’t her doing it, that was undeniably her body.
Xia Xi and Cat Xuening stared at each other, their eyes locked. Seeing the pure, unclouded gaze of the cat in human form, he couldn’t help but gulp.
Then, Cat Xuening licked his face.
(…!)
Xia Xi shuddered and immediately swapped the two back.
This is terrifying. I just got licked by the Great Demon Lin Xuening. Oh my god!
He frantically wiped his face with his hand, as if trying to erase all evidence of the lick.
“How long are you planning to stay on top of me, huh?!”
Lin Xuening, suddenly back in her own body, took a second to adjust to the abrupt shift in perspective.
By the time she processed what was happening, she was already nose-to-nose with Xia Xi, her entire body straddling his stomach. The warmth between her legs and the way her chest pressed against his made her acutely aware of his heartbeat.
(…!)
In an instant, her fair skin flushed bright red. Steam might as well have been rising from her head like some anime character.
“You—I—you… PERVERT!”
Overwhelmed and flustered, her brain short-circuited, and she slapped Xia Xi across the face before scrambling to her feet. Without even grabbing her bag, she bolted out of the classroom.
Xia Xi, now nursing a bright red handprint on his cheek, cursed under his breath as he sat up.
“Ugh, I should’ve switched them back sooner. First, I get drooled on, and now I’m slapped for no reason? I’m the one who got pinned down here—I’m the victim!”
Pulling out his phone, he turned on the front camera and inspected the mark on his face.
“Great. Now I have to wait for this to fade before I can leave.”
He didn’t have a mask on him, so he couldn’t cover it up. There was no way he was going out in public with a giant “I got slapped” sign on his face.
“This is all your fault!”
He glared at the kitten now grooming itself nearby, then grabbed it by the scruff of its neck.
“You got me slapped. How are you gonna make it up to me?”
In the empty classroom, a reasonably handsome guy demanding compensation from a kitten would’ve made for a bizarre sight—one that would’ve definitely ended up on the campus gossip page if anyone had seen it.
“…Whatever. It’s not like you’d understand anyway. Go play. I’ll bring you some sausages next time.”
Since this kitten was now bound to Lin Xuening, Xia Xi figured he might as well feed it occasionally—just to make sure it didn’t starve to death on campus.
He didn’t want to waste a perfectly good Swap Card, especially one he could use to mess with Lin Xuening.
