Pale golden sunlight slanted across the small table by the windowsill. Sensing the intrusive, almost annoying glare of the bright yet slightly chilly rays, Xu Ze gently drew the curtains, blocking out the faint light filtering in from outside.

Lin Yumeng’s jade-like, clear, and beautiful face held a quiet, serene smile as she looked at the handsome young man across from her. She chuckled lightly, “Brother Xu Ze… it’s really not easy to catch you at school. It’s been days! I only saw you from afar once at the welcome ceremony!”

Xu Ze picked up his spoon, stirred the rice dish in front of him a couple of times, and smiled faintly, “Heh… I don’t live on campus anymore, and I often have to go to the hospital for internships now. So, yeah, spotting me around school isn’t very likely these days…”

“Oh… You live off-campus, Brother Xu Ze?” Lin Yumeng’s eyes flickered slightly at his words. She then asked, seemingly casually, “Are you… living out there with your girlfriend?”

“No, I have an apartment in a complex near the school… so I usually stay there,” Xu Ze replied with a smile.

Hearing this, a hint of happy smile appeared on Lin Yumeng’s face. She looked at Xu Ze and continued, “Brother Xu Ze… I heard your girlfriend is the school belle. She must be really beautiful…”

“School belle?” Xu Ze looked at Lin Yumeng and laughed. “You’re a school belle too… So, probably similar to you?”

Watching her embarrassed expression, Xu Ze laughed again. “You’re currently ranked second on the official school belle list. There’s nothing to be shy about… With fifty or sixty thousand students in our university, making it onto that list means you’re a true beauty…”

Praise from Xu Ze made Lin Yumeng blush even deeper. She pouted playfully, “Brother Xu Ze… stop it, stop it. You’re just teasing me…”

Xu Ze was about to respond when his phone rang.

He glanced at the screen; it was a very unfamiliar number. Answering it, he heard a slightly familiar, sweet female voice, “Is this Xu Ze?”

Hearing his voice, Wu Yueru took a light breath. Being proud and confident by nature, she really didn’t want to have much interaction with this junior, but circumstances left her no choice. She forced a cheerful tone, “Xu Ze, it’s Wu Yueru.”

“Wu Yueru…” Hearing the name, Xu Ze couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow in surprise. His interactions with this star senior had been very limited. Why would she seek him out personally?

Thinking this, Wu Yueru hesitated for a moment, then finally said, “I have an event to attend tonight. Are you free now? How about we have a meal together?”

“A meal together…” Xu Ze looked down at his half-finished rice dish, thought for a second, and said, “If it’s urgent, Senior Wu, we can meet now. I’m currently at the Shijia Western & Chinese Restaurant near the school gate. If you have time, you can come over.”

“Shijia…” Wu Yueru naturally knew the place. Before graduating, she had frequented this restaurant too. But the thought of going there now was somewhat unappealing. Seeing the woman in sunglasses enter, Xu Ze smiled and said, “Senior Wu… we’ve already finished our meal. What would you like to eat? I’ll order something for you!”

Seeing the same warm, faint smile on his face, Wu Yueru—now somewhat accustomed to it—took off her hat, placed it aside, and smiled, nodding, “I’m really sorry for making you wait so long… I’ll have the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce set meal, then… I haven’t had it in ages…”

“Sure,” Xu Ze nodded, then turned to the waitress who had just brought a glass of water, “Miss, we’d like one order of Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, please.”

“Okay, please wait a moment. It will be right out,” the waitress acknowledged and left.

After the waitress left, Xu Ze smiled and introduced, “Senior Wu, this is Lin Yumeng, a freshman, and she’s also from my hometown.”

Then, he turned to Lin Yumeng with a smile, “Yumeng, this is Senior Wu Yueru.”

“Hello, Senior Wu,” Lin Yumeng found the name very familiar but still sweetly greeted her promptly.

Hearing the introduction, Wu Yueru realized that Xu Ze was having a meal with this pretty junior. No wonder he was reluctant to leave. She glanced at the incredibly lovely and clear-faced junior across from her, a flicker of surprise and admiration passing through her eyes.
