Skills with no cooldown? I become the Undead Scourge! - Chapter 6
Lu Ran’s vision brightened.
His first dungeon run—and on normal difficulty at that—had actually dropped a rare purple-tier item?
Excited, he rushed over to pick it up.
The blue item was a pair of heavy armor boots, which Lu Ran couldn’t use but could sell.
The rare purple item, however, turned out to be a staff—one that Lu Ran could wield!
[Frostwolf Staff]!
Lu Ran had studied dungeon guides at the academy. The Frostwolf Staff was the best caster weapon that Frostwolf Valley could produce.
But its drop rate was abysmally low!
You could run the dungeon a hundred times and still not see it. However, because it was a low-level item, its market value wasn’t exceptionally high.
On the trading floor, it typically sold for around 8,000 gold.
But to Lu Ran, this was an absolute treasure!
Most importantly, as a weapon, the Frostwolf Staff provided the highest intelligence boost—a full 30 points!
This wouldn’t just enhance Lu Ran’s spell power—it would indirectly strengthen his Skeleton Soldiers’ attacks and the potency of his Corpse Explosion.
On top of that, it also increased his maximum mana by 300 points!
For Lu Ran’s snowballing dungeon-clearing strategy, this was an insane boost.
“What a find! Nice, very nice. Let’s keep grinding!”
Lu Ran licked his lips in excitement and chose to exit the dungeon.
Outside, the assassin youth who had been waiting impatiently suddenly froze when he saw Lu Ran reappear in the teleportation circle.
“Huh?”
The young man’s eyes widened, and he hurriedly checked the time.
From the moment Lu Ran had entered Frostwolf Valley until now, only about twenty minutes had passed.
Twenty minutes? A level 5 Necromancer speed-clearing Frostwolf Valley?
“No way. He must’ve chickened out halfway,” the youth thought to himself.
After all, even a standard five-man party needed at least an hour to clear Frostwolf Valley.
But just as he was convincing himself, his gaze landed on Lu Ran’s gear—what he was wearing and what he held in his hand.
“Is that… the Frostwolf Robe and… the Frostwolf Staff?”
The young man’s mind exploded with disbelief.
Forget the insane luck of getting the Frostwolf Staff on his first run—this alone proved that Lu Ran had actually cleared the dungeon!
His expression instantly turned serious.
By now, he fully understood why Qin Wuyao had ordered him to keep tabs on Lu Ran.
This guy… is a monster.
Meanwhile, Lu Ran had already selected the dungeon again—same normal difficulty, another speedrun.
The youth quickly opened his communicator and reported to Qin Wuyao:
“Lu Ran’s out. He solo-cleared Frostwolf Valley in 23 minutes. He’s wearing the Frostwolf Robe and even got the Frostwolf Staff to drop. Other loot unknown for now.”
Outside the city, Qin Wuyao—who had been lazily sitting on a rock while her family’s lackeys grinded mobs for her—paused when she saw the message.
She didn’t care about Lu Ran’s loot.
What shocked her was that he had survived—and even cleared Frostwolf Valley in 23 minutes!
Solo!
“So I was right. With 130 Spirit, even as a Necromancer, how could he ever be ordinary? Compared to him, what hidden class could possibly measure up?”
Qin Wuyao’s eyes narrowed slightly.
They had awakened their classes at the same time.
Though Qin Wuyao had just started leveling, thanks to her family’s help, she was already level 2.
Around her, other novice class users were grinding mobs in droves, but the highest level among them was barely past level 3.
Yet Lu Ran had hit level 5 before lunch—and was now soloing Frostwolf Valley in the city!
The gap was massive!
He really is still that untouchable prodigy.
But she couldn’t wrap her head around how he was doing it.
A level 5 Necromancer only had two skills: Summon Undead and Corpse Explosion—limited to two summons and two explosions, both with a 10-minute cooldown.
Beyond that, they had no other tools.
How did Lu Ran speed-clear Frostwolf Valley’s hundreds of frost wolves, three elite frost wolves, and the boss Frostwolf King?
And how did he heal?
Did he seriously no-hit speedrun the entire dungeon solo?
The more she thought about it, the more absurd it seemed. Her head was spinning.
“Everyone thought Lu Ran—the guy with 130 Spirit—had become a joke after awakening a common class.”
“But in truth, those who underestimated and mocked him are the real clowns!”
“No one’s realized his potential yet. This is the perfect chance for the Qin family to get close to him.”
“As for that Wang Yujiao… ditching Lu Ran for that playboy Liang Shaoyu? Pathetic.”
…..
Meanwhile, Lu Ran continued his back-and-forth runs through Frostwolf Valley.
With growing familiarity and the boosted mana pool from the Frostwolf Staff and Robe, his Skeleton Soldier army grew even larger.
His clearing speed skyrocketed. By chaining Corpse Explosion and summoning strategically, he maintained both speed and a steady supply of skeletons.
As a result, his dungeon times kept shrinking.
By dusk, when Lu Ran exited the dungeon for the last time, the assassin youth checked the time numbly and sent a mechanical update to Qin Wuyao:
“Lu Ran’s out. Latest Frostwolf Valley clear: 16 minutes.”
And Lu Ran? He had reached level 8!
Leveling grew exponentially harder, but Lu Ran had pushed through.
Leaving the teleportation circle, he decided to call it a day and checked his inventory.
From speedrunning Frostwolf Valley alone, he had collected:
-
1,700+ gold
-
37 green-tier items
-
18 blue-tier items
-
Aside from his Frostwolf Staff, he’d even gotten a purple-tier dagger (useless to him, but sellable).
As for white-tier gear? Worthless. His inventory had filled up fast, so he’d stopped looting it early on.
By now, Lu Ran’s entire setup had been upgraded to full blue-tier gear.
Before dinner, he hit the trading post, listing all his loot at market price, then headed to a restaurant.
Purchases would deposit gold directly into his account—convenient.
While waiting for his food, Lu Ran reopened his inventory. Everything had been sold except one item:
[Level 10 Rift Contract: Use this to open a Level 10 Rift Dungeon once. Requires a party.]
Now this was valuable.
Rift Contracts had a tiny drop chance in five-man dungeons. Lu Ran had gotten lucky.
Normally, rift dungeons spawned near the main city. The contract’s map would lead to the location, where the rift could be opened and entered.
But solo entry wasn’t allowed—parties of 2 to 5 were required.
Rift dungeons matched regular five-man difficulty but offered far better EXP and loot.
Though Level 10 Rift Contracts were selling for 30,000 gold on the trading post, Lu Ran had no plans to sell. He didn’t need money—he needed EXP and gear!
If he got lucky and scored top-tier loot, even at level 10, it’d be worth keeping or selling.
“Only problem: I need a teammate. Who should I ask?”
In the past, he’d have instantly invited Wang Yujiao.
But now…
As he pondered, someone slid into the seat across from him with a bright smile.
“What a coincidence! Eating here too?”
Lu Ran looked up.
The girl grinning at him was none other than Qin Wuyao.
