My Amazing WeChat is Connected to the Three Realms - Chapter 96
“Huh?” Lin Hai waited for a long moment, but nothing happened.
When he opened his eyes, he was overjoyed.
An exquisitely beautiful face was staring at him with intense resentment.
Who else could it be but Chu Lin’er?
“What are you doing here? And why are you wearing that outfit again?” Lin Hai asked, looking at Chu Lin’er’s uniform, which was that of a Black Impermanence.
“Hmph, as if I wanted to come.” Chu Lin’er shook the iron chain in her hand irritably. The vengeful ghost Hu Wei, chained at the other end, let out a series of miserable wails.
“Hmph, I just find it strange. Wherever you go, vengeful spirits appear. You’re a real jinx! I was at a critical moment in a Gomoku game, just about to win, when my father forced me to come handle this annoying task. It’s utterly infuriating.”
“Uh…” Lin Hai broke out in a cold sweat internally. Damn, what does the appearance of a vengeful ghost have to do with me?
“Ahem, Princess Lin’er, official business still needs to be handled. We mustn’t neglect our duties for the sake of amusement,” Lin Hai felt it necessary to guide this game-obsessed youth back on track.
“Lin Hai, are you okay?” Seeing that Lin Hai had suddenly stopped moving earlier, struggling to breathe and seeming to be in pain, Liu Xinyue rushed over.
“I’m fine, Xinyue. Don’t worry. Who in this world could possibly handle me?” Lin Hai pulled Liu Xinyue into his embrace.
Chu Lin’er curled her lip.
“Hmph, all you do is boast.”
“Police! Freeze! Everyone, put your hands up!” Suddenly, a group of police officers burst through the door and charged in.
Lin Hai rolled his eyes. Damn, if we’d waited for you, the opportunity would have long passed.
“Lin Hai, are you okay? Chief Peng is here himself with the team.” Xu Tian ran over as soon as she saw Lin Hai, asking with concern.
“Huh? Who is she?” Seeing Liu Xinyue in Lin Hai’s arms, Xu Tian felt an inexplicable discomfort in her heart.
As if driven by an innate wariness between women, Liu Xinyue spoke before Lin Hai could, leaning her head on his shoulder.
“Hello, I’m Lin Hai’s girlfriend. He’s perfectly fine, thank you for your concern for my boyfriend.”
“Oh, really? I never heard Lin Hai mention he had a girlfriend,” Xu Tian’s eyebrow twitched as she retorted sharply.
“That’s just how Lin Hai is; he usually doesn’t talk about us with outsiders,” Liu Xinyue didn’t back down an inch.
Whoa, what’s going on?
Why did Lin Hai suddenly sense the smell of gunpowder in the air?
“Mr. Lin, we are fully aware of the situation here. These people were too brutal, too despicable. We will definitely punish them severely according to the law!” Peng Tao walked over and said.
Lin Hai rolled his eyes again.
“Chief Peng, your timing is impeccable. You arrived the very minute we finished dealing with the enemy, not a second off. The efficiency of the people’s police is truly remarkable.”
“Ahem… We came as soon as we received Xu Tian’s call.” Peng Tao blushed, catching the sarcasm in Lin Hai’s tone.
“Ah, whatever. It’s not like I had high hopes for the police anyway,” Lin Hai waved a hand dismissively.
“Hey, watch your tone with our Chief! Do you want me to arrest you?” A thin, sharp-featured police officer stepped forward and shouted.
Lin Hai chuckled dryly, looking the officer up and down.
“So tough, huh? What’s this? Trying to suck up to your chief? I don’t care about your bootlicking, but don’t you dare step on me to do it! Got it? That’s a good way to get kicked by the horse you’re trying to flatter!”
“You better watch yourself! Talking to the police like that? I suspect you—”
“Shut up!” Peng Tao glared fiercely at the officer.
“But Chief, he—”
“I said shut the hell up!” Peng Tao roared.
Already frustrated by Lin Hai’s sarcasm, Peng Tao immediately lost his temper at this tactless officer who jumped out asking for trouble.
“Yes, sir.” The officer shrunk back, scared, and didn’t dare speak again.
Lin Hai smirked. “See? What did I tell you? Got kicked by the horse, didn’t you?”
Peng Tao frowned.
“Mr. Lin, we have the area surrounded. The people who were locked up earlier have been rescued. We need to seal off this place now. Please leave as well.”
“Fine.” Lin Hai had long wanted to get out of this awful place. He agreed and prepared to leave with the Liu sisters.
“Chief! There’s an underground passage here!” a police officer suddenly shouted.
“Huh?” Peng Tao walked over and looked down. A narrow passage, wide enough for only one person, emitted a faint light from within.
“Xu Tian, stay behind and escort the rescued individuals out. Everyone else, follow me down.” Peng Tao drew his pistol and cautiously led the way down.
“Hmm?” Chu Lin’er suddenly looked toward the underground passage, a thoughtful expression on her face.
“What’s wrong?” Lin Hai was puzzled.
“I need to go take a look.” Chu Lin’er suddenly thrust her iron chain into the ground and floated into the underground passage.
“Xinyue, take Xinqing and leave with Xu Tian. I’m going down to check it out.” Lin Hai, knowing Chu Lin’er’s true identity, felt that this passage must be unusual if she suddenly went down. His curiosity was piqued.
“Then… be careful yourself.”
Lin Hai acknowledged and followed the police officers down.
What the hell?
Not far down, he found the police officers lined up, bent over and vomiting violently in perfect unison.
Lin Hai stepped forward, took one look, and joined them in vomiting.
Directly ahead was a large pool, at least four or five meters in radius, filled with human organs. Thick, congealed blood gave off a nauseating stench.
It was utterly horrifying. Even hell might not be this bad.
Splash!
Suddenly, a sound came from the pool, and a figure emerged from within, its back turned to Lin Hai and the others.
“The people captured earlier should have been slaughtered by now. Why haven’t the organs been delivered yet? Don’t you know today is the most critical moment?”
The voice was harsh and sinister, impossible to identify as male or female.
“Huh?” Seeming to sense something wrong, the figure whipped around.
“Police?” The figure was startled. With a splash, it leaped out of the pool, sending internal organs splattering across the ground.
“Hu Lai? It’s you!” Peng Tao was utterly shocked and horrified upon recognizing the person, unable to believe the reality before his eyes.
“Heh, heh, heh, Chief Peng. Fancy meeting you here. But since you’ve come, don’t bother leaving. I happen to need more organs; I’ll just use yours to make up the shortfall.”
“Hu Lai, what is the meaning of this? You are a prominent entrepreneur in Jiangnan City! You have money, you have status… Why would you…” Peng Tao’s face was a mask of anguish and disbelief.
“Money? Status?” Hu Lai let out a cold laugh. “The things ordinary people chase after might have tempted me once, but ever since I stepped onto the path of immortality, how could such trivial matters hold any appeal for me?”
“Path of immortality?” Peng Tao gave a bitter laugh, pointing at the disgusting pool of blood and organs. “This isn’t any path of immortality! This is clearly the demonic path!”
“Enough!” Hu Lai’s face suddenly darkened. “Time is short. I can’t be bothered with your pointless chatter. Today, all of you will stay and witness the moment of my immortal ascension!”
As soon as the words were spoken, a sinister wind howled, so strong it forced everyone to shut their eyes.
Seeing this, Lin Hai quickly activated his Heavenly Eye power. But when he saw the scene before him, his face turned pale with shock!
