Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 4
February 1, 2000, Midnight – Siberian Snowfields
The Siberian snowfields were eerily silent. In stark contrast, the usually orderly Babylon Labs had descended into chaos.
“Huff… huff…”
Two researchers in white coats sprinted desperately down a wide walkway. The bespectacled man leading the way gasped as he urged his companion:
“Run faster! That monster’s catching up!”
Unlike their frantic escape, the white figure behind them emerged leisurely from around the corner, giggling like a young girl.
“Hehe☆”
But to the two men, that laughter sounded like a death knell. They pushed harder, racing toward a door ahead.
“Just a little farther… If we can just reach that door—”
The trailing researcher stumbled with a thud, collapsing to the ground. Instantly, his legs went numb. Watching his companion frantically hammering the door’s close button, he cried out in despair:
“Don’t leave me… Help…!”
But did the one who made it to the door escape safely? Of course not. After witnessing his partner’s fate, he slammed the button with all his might.
“Damn it! Close already!”
Yet the usually responsive door refused to budge. Exhausted, he slumped to the floor—just as the white figure appeared before him.
“Stay away from me!”
With that final roar, silence swallowed Babylon Labs once more. By morning, all 322 researchers had vanished without a trace.
…
Inside the Central Computer
A pair of smooth, delicate hands reached out from the central computer. Like Sadako from The Ring, Enoxia crawled out of the screen.
“Hmm… I bet no one else in the world can move like this.”
Stepping out, she looked down from the walkway. Beside the massive Honkai Reactor stood a lone girl—purple-haired, with golden mushroom-like eyes.
This was the architect of the Second Honkai Eruption, the favored one of the Will of Honkai. A being who appeared formidable yet was nearly soloed by Welt Yang, Theresa, and others in the original story—the infamous “Pufferfish” Herrscher, Sirin.
Enoxia vaulted over the railing and landed beside her.
“Hi~ First time meeting. How do you feel?”
Now in this form, Enoxia couldn’t help but greet her like this.
Sirin tensed, backing away warily.
“Relax,” Enoxia said, raising her hands. “If I were with Schicksal, I could’ve attacked you the moment you killed those 322 people. At the very least, I could’ve called for reinforcements. But I didn’t. Know why? Because I’m a Herrscher too.”
“Then… why are you here?” Sirin’s guard lowered slightly.
Seizing the moment—perhaps influenced by her new form’s habits, or maybe just her own instincts—Enoxia suddenly closed the distance and hugged her.
“Oho~ You’re quite sturdy.”
Despite the brutal Honkai experiments, Sirin’s physique remained well-maintained.
Strangely, Sirin didn’t resist. When was the last time someone had held her like this?
Enoxia smiled. Ah, the joys of girl-to-girl affection.
“Ahem.” She cleared her throat. “Now that you’re less tense, let’s talk business.”
With their physical distance forcibly shortened, Sirin found herself listening more intently.
“Schicksal subjected you to inhuman torture. Your desire for revenge is justified. But alone, you’re no match for them. Even if you slaughter countless civilians and Valkyries, Otto Apocalypse—the man behind Babylon’s experiments—will remain untouched. That’s why I want to help you.”
Enoxia understood: to minimize casualties, she couldn’t condemn Sirin’s actions. If she had endured the same agony—nerves plucked and soaked in acid—would she have held back? Not a chance.
“Help me?” Sirin scoffed. “Once I absorb enough Honkai energy here, even all of Schicksal won’t stop me! I don’t need your help to get my revenge!”
Puffing up proudly, she truly lived up to her “Pufferfish” nickname.
“Fine. Let’s make a bet,” Enoxia said. “If you can annihilate Schicksal alone, I won’t interfere. But if you’re ever in mortal danger, I’ll step in—on one condition. Don’t worry, I’ll ensure every Babylon researcher and enabler pays. I just need you to come with me somewhere afterward.”
“Where?”
“I’ll tell you if—no, when—I win. It’s nothing dangerous.”
……
“…Fine. But don’t interfere unless I’m truly defeated.”
“Deal. Tomorrow, Schicksal’s Valkyries will investigate the disappearances. Have fun~”
With that, Enoxia walked away without looking back.
…
February 2, 2000, 11:55 AM
A aircraft touched down outside Babylon Labs. A petite, white-haired, blue-eyed girl stepped out, her black nun’s habit whipping in the Siberian wind. She shielded her forehead, squinting against the gale.
“Theresa, the Overseer ordered me to assist you.”
A familiar voice. Theresa turned, delighted to see a rugged, black-coated woman.
“Ah! Patricia! Long time no see!”
Patricia Highsmith—A-rank Valkyrie, “Genius” of the Snow Wolf Squad. Despite her rough exterior, she was a meticulous strategist with three PhDs from MIT.
After brief greetings, Theresa cut to the chase.
“Any progress on the investigation?”
Patricia shook her head. “All surveillance feeds were mysteriously blank during the incident. Recent experimental data is missing, yet the equipment was fully operational. So far, I’ve found nothing.”
They rode the elevator to a computer terminal. The screen fizzed with static.
“Don’t worry, Patricia. If anyone can crack this, it’s you! I just hope it’s not… ghosts.” Theresa shuddered.
Patricia placed firm hands on her shoulders.
“Ghosts don’t exist. Almost every phenomenon traces back to Honkai energy. Let’s check the reactor area.”
“Just… the two of us?”
Patricia smiled—a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
“The reactor zone is saturated with Honkai radiation. Only Valkyries like us can enter. So yes, just us.”
As they approached the reactor, Patricia detected faint Honkai traces. Suddenly, anguished voices echoed around them—
“Help! Is anyone there? Save us!”
