Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 161
December 4, 2014, St. Freya Academy, Valkyrie Dormitory.
Raiden Mei pushed the door open and entered, finding that Bronya was the only one in the dorm, engrossed in playing a game with a very serious expression. It softened slightly when she saw Mei.
“Ah, Sister Mei, you’re back. Kiana was taken by the Principal for special training… Damn it, it’s over, I lost again.”
Although Raiden Mei didn’t play games much, she was well aware of Bronya’s skill level. Curiosity prompted her to glance at the tablet in Bronya’s hands.
[Nirvana]
[Disturbance: 450]
[Score: 21926]
Raiden Mei understood that Bronya’s “loss” clearly meant she hadn’t managed to take first place. So, she looked at the top score.
ID: 0101
[Score: 21927]
“Ah, first place is Enoxia. She’s just too good. I haven’t won a single game against her since we started playing. I’ve lost 189 times in a row now.”
Raiden Mei was surprised; she hadn’t expected Enoxia to be such a gaming expert, even more skilled than someone of Bronya’s caliber.
“Only one point away. I’ll try one more run.”
Five minutes later, in Enoxia’s room.
Enoxia opened her phone again and found she had dropped to second place. There were less than five minutes left until the Abyss ranking finalized.
She knew perfectly well that this was the Nirvana tier, not the Original Sin tier. A normal player, no matter how much money they spent, how well they understood the game, or how skilled they were, couldn’t possibly achieve such a score.
However, as the programmer of this game, Enoxia had naturally built in anti-cheat measures. Given Bronya’s hacking skills, she could only partially bypass them—she was cheating, but not completely. Managing to get a score of 21926 showed she had been grinding very diligently.
Enoxia had once tried playing strictly by the rules, only to realize she was all thumbs. She couldn’t even reach 21,000 points, let alone compete with Bronya.
Seeing that there was only enough time left for one attempt, no matter who tried, Enoxia flashed a mischievous smile, activated a script, and went back to watching videos.
After finishing one video, Enoxia switched back to the game interface. Her score had climbed to 21934 points, and the current Abyss season had already ended.
Bronya clearly didn’t realize that defeating Enoxia in a game was far more difficult than defeating the game’s GM. Because even a GM couldn’t modify any in-game data anytime, anywhere, as they pleased.
Just then, several of her avatars within St. Freya Academy’s network simultaneously sent her reports.
“The St. Freya Academy network has been invaded, and the defense system is paralyzed? Theresa said… Well, Theresa’s claim that ‘St. Freya is one of the most heavily defended places in the world’ is about as reliable as ‘Area 13 is one of the safest places in the world.'”
“…Three Herrschers surely wouldn’t lose to a clone who isn’t even a pseudo-Herrscher, right?”
“Still, this is an opportunity. I can have Sirin release someone now.”
St. Freya Dormitory
Just as Bronya was pondering how to defeat Enoxia tomorrow, a knock came at the door.
“Who could it be at this late hour?”
Raiden Mei opened the door to find a man in a blue cloak standing before her, his hands wrapped in bandages.
“My apologies for disturbing you so late. I am the Principal Theresa’s newly appointed secretary. The Principal has invited Ms. Mei to her office.”
The statement was full of holes upon the slightest scrutiny, immediately putting Bronya on alert.
“Bronya will call the Principal to confirm.”
Seeing that Bronya wasn’t cooperating, the man dropped the act. He grabbed Mei’s arm and tried to forcibly take her away.
“Let go of Sister Mei!”
The Heavy Assault Robot appeared behind Bronya, its heavy particle cannon aimed at the man.
“Fire!”
The Heavy Assault Robot fired. At such close range, it was impossible to miss. However, the result was all smoke and no damage—a deep blue protective barrier had appeared around the man.
“Although I’d love to play with you, time is unfortunately limited.”
The man clenched his right fist, and Bronya slammed face-down onto the floor with a thud. It felt as if a tremendous weight were pressing down on her.
The man leisurely walked over to Bronya and stepped on her head:
“Before I came here, Cocolia repeatedly begged me not to kill you. For her sake, I’ll spare your life.”
With that, the man picked up Raiden Mei, who had also collapsed under the pressure, and casually walked out.
A Secret Base
Einstein and Cocolia walked up to the data terminal, where Einstein was working on breaching the Schicksal defense system.
“It ends here, Cocolia!”
Theresa appeared behind them. The moment she learned St. Freya Academy was under attack, she rushed here at full speed. Just as she suspected, Anti-Entropy’s real target was here.
“My, Theresa, it’s been so long. You haven’t grown an inch, have you?”
“Hmph, you vixen from Anti-Entropy! Your scheme has been exposed. You’d better surrender quietly!”
Cocolia smiled:
“So Otto didn’t send you to rescue that girl. It seems what’s here is more important than the Herrscher of Thunder.”
“Titan Mech A2304, observation shift, quantum state deactivated!”
As Cocolia finished speaking, several tall mechs materialized in the previously empty room.
“To think Anti-Entropy has already mastered such technology…”
Theresa was somewhat surprised by the sudden appearance of the new mechs, but not a trace of fear showed on her face.
“Theresa, your weapon suppresses the Honkai energy within your opponents, greatly weakening them. But will it still work against mechs?”
Just as Cocolia taunted her, the Titan Mechs’ fists came down simultaneously.
“Cocolia, you didn’t really think the Oath of Judah only has one use, did you?”
Theresa leaped up, swinging the half-ton cross directly at a Titan Mech.
One Titan Mech was smashed to the ground, the sparks coursing over its body announcing that it was already broken.
“Einstein, why have you stopped?”
“Because she knows the system I encrypted is impossible to crack.”
The one who answered Cocolia was Enoxia, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
“Her? She’s a new student at St. Freya… Why is she here? No time to worry about that. Theresa is tougher than expected, and Einstein isn’t making any progress. Let’s take her hostage to ensure our safe escape first.”
“Titan Mechs, attack that girl!”
To Cocolia’s surprise, after she gave the order, Theresa actually put away the Oath of Judah and adopted the attitude of someone watching a show.
The Titan Mech approached Enoxia, then suddenly turned around and delivered a sharp elbow strike to Cocolia, sending her sprawling to the ground.
