Honkai: Oh No, I’ve Become the Herrscher of Corruption?! - Chapter 139
When the Third Honkai Eruption swept through Northern Europe, although Enoxia did not intervene directly, she kept a close watch on Schicksal’s battle against the Herrscher of Flame. Despite some twists and turns, the outcome aligned with her expectations: with the “Immortal Sage” present, Schicksal alone was sufficient to eliminate the Herrscher.
Meanwhile, in India, progress was even smoother. Under Ragna’s command, the Valkyrie Strike Team successfully trapped Ganesha and engaged it in a war of attrition. Valkyrie reinforcements from the South Asia branch and other branches immediately launched a campaign to eliminate the remaining Honkai beasts. By the evening of July 8, all Honkai creatures in and around Kolkata—aside from Ganesha—had been eradicated, with Schicksal suffering minimal casualties.
Ganesha’s colossal form, towering hundreds of meters high, delivered a visually overwhelming impact. Even trained warriors couldn’t help but feel instinctive fear at the sight of such a behemoth.
For an Emperor-class Honkai beast, being smaller doesn’t necessarily mean weaker, but greater size always indicates greater strength. Ganesha’s destructive power was clearly proportional to its massive body. As this was its first appearance in this era, the South Asia branch had no prior knowledge of its abilities. They suffered heavy losses due to this lack of intelligence, falling victim to an “ambush by the unknown.”
Yet, Ganesha’s enormous size also made it relatively easy to trap. Ragna seized upon this weakness, successfully confining it within a device made of special materials.
On July 9, Ragna commanded the Valkyrie forces to launch their final assault on Ganesha.
Even a lion must use its full strength to catch a rabbit—let alone confront an Emperor-class Honkai beast. Although Ganesha was massive, few materials could withstand its impacts. The special containment device had been steadily losing integrity since it was first activated.
Just as victory seemed within reach, the severely wounded Ganesha let out a furious roar, unleashing unprecedented power. The special-material device shattered instantly, and the beast began spinning like a top, charging directly toward the Strike Team.
Ragna immediately ordered the team to scatter. Unexpectedly, when Ganesha was less than a hundred meters away, it suddenly changed direction and chose to flee.
Everyone understood that allowing it to reach the densely populated city center or slums was unacceptable, so they pursued at full speed. Fortunately, Ganesha, now at the end of its strength, fled blindly into the mountain caves west of Kolkata. Forced to burrow through the mountains to continue moving, it was quickly overtaken by the Valkyries.
After a fierce battle, Ganesha’s vital signs ceased deep underground. Ragna was relieved that the final battle had taken place there—given the population density of the Ganges Delta, hundreds of thousands, if not millions, could have been affected.
But had Ragna known beforehand that this mountain housed a secret Schicksal base—and what was stored inside—she would have preferred Ganesha to charge into downtown Kolkata instead.
The story traces back to the year 2000.
In February 2000, Fu Hua eliminated an extraterrestrial lifeform—a “Li” from the Huili species—in South America. Schicksal transported its corpse back to a laboratory for research.
Faced with an alien physiology vastly different from humans, even a decade later, Schicksal understood very little about it. They concluded that its greatest value lay in its potential as a vessel for a Herrscher core.
Thus, Schicksal implanted the Serenity Gem into its body and initiated new research. Two years later, they had begun to see minor breakthroughs.
With Sirin’s precedent, Schicksal was well aware of the consequences of a Herrscher escaping the lab. Therefore, they installed numerous restraint devices on the potential Herrscher. The lab’s outer walls, though appearing to be ordinary rock, could withstand even direct missile strikes without damage.
But… such durability meant little against Ganesha—it would only hold out a few seconds longer.
As a secret laboratory, it operated on an isolated internal network. Thus, even Enoxia was unaware that another Herrscher was contained there.
It wasn’t until Honkai energy readings exceeded 2000 HW that she hurried from the Far East to Kolkata.
By then, Kolkata was like a city struck by plague. People collapsed one after another. The extreme population density made effective protective measures impossible. If even one in ten thousand was infected, avoidance was futile. Before the Herrscher of Death had even taken action, the death toll had already reached seven figures.
“Destruction and devastation are in Ganesha’s nature. The only reason it didn’t charge into the city before dying was that it sensed a Pandora’s Box within these mountains…”
Witnessing the hellish scene before her, Enoxia felt grateful to have been born a Herrscher. The sight of corpses littering the streets and zombies overrunning the city didn’t frighten her—instead, it stirred a sense of excitement.
Sirin had not accompanied her, as Kiana’s condition had been unstable lately. If Sirin were to lose control in Nagazora, Theresa might not be able to fight her with full resolve.
Enoxia scanned her surroundings, instantly seizing control of the nearby zombies and Honkai beasts. Under her command, they turned on other rampaging Honkai creatures, buying time for many survivors to escape.
While controlling the newly spawned Honkai beasts along the streets, Enoxia advanced rapidly toward the Herrscher of Death.
At 19:00 on July 9, the two Herrschers met on the outskirts of Kolkata.
This wasn’t Enoxia’s first encounter with a Herrscher of Death. Unlike twelve years ago, the moment she laid eyes on this one, she understood that the “Li” was truly dead—what stood before her was nothing more than a reanimated corpse wearing its body.
“A pure engine of destruction… no different from the Herrschers of the previous era. But… a body imbued with the powers of Gluttony and Abundance would pose quite a challenge for Schicksal in its current state…”
“Schicksal makes a mess, and I end up cleaning it up. What a bunch of incompetents… Ah, well. Consider this a test of my new abilities… Higokumaru, it’s time to get to work!”
Higokumaru wriggled out from within Enoxia’s body.
“Big sis, is there something fun to do?”
Enoxia pointed at the Herrscher of Death.
“Go take down that Herrscher over there.”
Higokumaru looked at herself, then at the Herrscher of Death, which towered taller than a building. She pointed a small finger at her own face.
“Huh, me?”
Enoxia raised an eyebrow.
“What, scared?”
Higokumaru placed her hands on her hips.
“Of course not! I’m just… worried that if I lose, I’ll embarrass you.”
Enoxia patted her head.
“Quite the smooth talker. Don’t worry, I’m not sending you in directly. I’ve recently learned a new technique—one that will make you big and mighty, with some seriously cool armor.”
Higokumaru’s eyes instantly lit up, her face full of anticipation.
“Jizo Mitama, Second Rated Power – Jizo Puppet.”
