Shu Ao’s reaction took everyone by surprise.
The live stream viewers found it especially hard to believe.
“This is Zuo Zongtang?”
“Kid, are you joking? Do you even know who Zuo Zongtang is? And you’re telling me he’s scared of a feather duster?”
“Something’s not right. This feels very off to me.”
“Why does this kid remind me so much of my younger self? Whoa, I think I know what’s going on with him!”
Seeing Qin Jiang subdue Shu Ao with just a feather duster, Shu Chuan and his wife were also visibly stunned.
After all, when Shu Ao had an episode, he went completely wild—it took two or three grown men to hold him down.
So why was he being so docile now?
“Dr. Qin, is that feather duster… blessed?” Zhu Hong pondered for a long moment, arriving at this single conclusion.
The Ritual Master nodded nearby, looking at Qin Jiang with a newfound respect.
Could it be that he wasn’t just a doctor, but also a mystic?
Qin Jiang ignored Zhu Hong and fixed his gaze on Shu Ao. “So, you’re Zuo Zongtang now?”
“Yes, Doctor.”
“Then tell me, what was your wife’s name?”
Shu Ao: “…”
After a moment of silence, Shu Ao said, “Doctor, too much time has passed. I can’t remember many people or events, only vague impressions.”
Qin Jiang smirked coldly.
Keep pretending. Go on.
“Alright, can’t remember the names of people close to you, huh? What about food? Can you remember that?”
Shu Ao nodded confidently. “Food, of course. I loved braised pork belly the most.”
This was a complete guess by Shu Ao. Who could possibly know what Zuo Zongtang actually liked? History books wouldn’t record such details.
But Qin Jiang just chuckled softly and asked, “Oh, really? So you liked braised pork belly. Did you like chicken?”
Hearing this, Shu Ao immediately frowned, putting on a disgusted expression. “No, I didn’t.”
“Chicken is too gamey. It was my least favorite meat.”
Qin Jiang smirked again. “Is that so? Then how do you explain ‘General Tso’s Chicken’?”
Shu Ao was dumbfounded.
General Tso’s Chicken?
What in the world is that!
That question was beyond the scope, Doc!
The live stream audience found this hilarious.
“Hahaha, this kid is too funny! He totally fell into Qin Jiang’s trap.”
“So he was faking it all along? And here I thought he was genuinely possessed.”
“I knew this kid was up to no good the moment I saw his shifty eyes. Of all people to impersonate, you pick Zuo Zongtang? Serves you right for walking right into this.”
“Zuo Zongtang loved eating chicken during his lifetime, and this kid says it’s too gamey and he didn’t like it? I’m dying of laughter.”
One look at Qin Jiang’s expression, and Shu Ao knew he’d given the wrong answer.
He shot Qin Jiang a resentful look.
This doctor is kind of sneaky, setting traps like that.
But noticing Shu Chuan’s grim expression, Shu Ao’s heart sank. He had no choice but to brazen it out and keep up the act.
The next second, Shu Ao put on a completely bewildered face.
“Huh? Why am I here? Dad, Mom, where is this?”
Qin Jiang was taken aback.
He hadn’t expected Shu Ao’s acting skills to be this superb.
Zhu Hong and Shu Chuan, completely unsuspecting, thought their real son Shu Ao had returned.
Zhu Hong rushed forward and hugged him, crying. “Son, you’re finally back to your senses!”
“You have no idea, you had another episode just now! You scared me to death!”
Shu Ao comforted her very understandingly, “Mom, don’t cry. I’m clear-headed now, aren’t I?”
“Please untie me, these ropes are really uncomfortable.”
Hearing this, the couple immediately began untying him.
Qin Jiang, watching curiously, asked, “His illness isn’t cured yet. Aren’t you afraid he’ll have another episode if you untie him now?”
Zhu Hong wiped her tears and explained, “It’s like this, Dr. Qin. Once Shu Ao snaps out of it, as long as he isn’t overly stimulated, he definitely won’t have another episode for the rest of the day.”
“He’s my son. I can’t bear to keep him tied up.”
Qin Jiang found this privately amusing.
Nice one, kid. You can even control the timing of your ‘episodes,’ can you?
Once untied, Shu Ao proactively took Zhu Hong’s hand. Like a perfectly well-behaved child, he looked up and said, “Mom, I don’t want to stay here. Let’s go home.”
Zhu Hong shook her head. “No, son. You haven’t finished your treatment. We’ll take you home after the doctor is done.”
Seeing her refusal, Shu Ao immediately started throwing a tantrum.
“No! I want to go home now! I’m not sick! I don’t want a treatment!”
Seeing Shu Ao like this, the couple was terrified.
“Son, don’t get agitated! Okay, okay, no treatment. We’ll go back right now. Please, don’t get worked up!”
Shu Chuan and his wife were desperately afraid of triggering another episode.
Just as the couple prepared to leave with Shu Ao, Qin Jiang stood up, holding the feather duster, and blocked their way.
Shu Chuan smacked his forehead. “Look at my memory! I’m so sorry, Dr. Qin. We didn’t expect him to snap out of it so suddenly.”
“Here’s four hundred yuan, for the consultation fee.”
“We’ll bring him back next time he has an episode.”
Qin Jiang inwardly scoffed.
This kid might fool his parents, but did he really think he could fool me?
I’ve been ‘treating’ you for a while now. Did you really think you could just run off?
With this thought, Qin Jiang stated directly, “Mr. Shu, your son Shu Ao isn’t sick at all. He’s faking it.”
“Fak… faking it?”
Hearing this, Shu Chuan and his wife were completely stunned.
The Ritual Master chimed in with a serious expression, “That seems unlikely. What child could act that convincingly? And he’s so young, how would he even know who Zuo Zongtang is?”
Shu Ao quickly nodded, trying to prove his innocence. “Yes, Doctor! I’ve never even heard of Zuo Zongtang.”
“If this happened to someone else, I’d be scared.”
“Especially since it’s happening to me, I’m even more scared.”
Shu Ao said this in what he believed was a sincere tone.
Little did he know how utterly awkward these words sounded to the online audience.
“‘I’ve never even heard of Zuo Zongtang.'”
“This kid is spouting nonsense with a straight face.”
“His logic is way too clear. Does that sound like something someone possessed by a ghost would say?”
“Look at his earnest expression! It’s killing me. Does he really think he can talk his way out of this?”
Shu Ao’s acting skills were refined; he even tried to add appropriate expressions when delivering his lines.
Unfortunately for him, Qin Jiang was a blunt and straightforward old-school doctor.
If a patient has a problem, he will state it plainly and directly!
This was his medical philosophy!
Qin Jiang stated flatly, “You two, your son is indeed faking it.”
“As for Zuo Zongtang, he genuinely doesn’t know much. He probably just heard the name somewhere, which is why he couldn’t answer any of my questions.”
“He’s really faking it?”
Shu Chuan’s eyes suddenly turned sharp, and one hand moved to his belt.
Seeing this, Shu Ao let out a howl—and transformed once again!
