“Su… if possible, try to keep the commotion to a minimum… Don’t forget, every change that happens here will have the same effect in reality…”
“We mustn’t harm any innocent people…”
Elise reminded him once more.
“I’m just testing things out, nothing more.”
Su Fan gave a gentle smile.
“Isn’t that mask-wearing evil spirit upstairs? Let’s go find him.”
“Alright, stay close to me. There are no light sources here; it’s easy to get lost.”
Elise lifted her small lantern and walked out the door.
The two left Quinn’s apartment and headed to the elevator, taking it to the fifth floor.
As the elevator doors opened, a foul-smelling, cold wind hit their faces.
Compared to the fourth-floor hallway they had passed through earlier, this place was even darker and more sinister.
The sound of dripping water echoed from not far away.
Su Fan and Elise followed the sound and found a pitiful-looking woman, drenched from head to toe.
Her face was deathly pale with heavy dark circles under her eyes; her clothes and hair were completely soaked.
Water dripped continuously from the spot where she stood.
Clearly, the circumstances of her death were related to rain.
The woman trembled as she looked at the two before her, her eyes filled with terror.
“Were you killed by that oxygen mask evil spirit?”
Seeing the woman nod, Su Fan continued.
“Where is he now?”
This time, the woman didn’t answer directly. Instead, she shook her head repeatedly.
“I can’t tell you… He’ll kill me…”
Hearing this, Elise was about to speak up, but Su Fan beat her to it.
“What are you afraid of? You’re a ghost, and he’s a ghost. Why didn’t you dare to fight him back then?”
“Now you’re too scared to even give us directions? So timid.”
“What, you’re afraid of him but not of me?”
As he spoke, Su Fan clenched his fist, a faint glow emanating from it.
In their spiritual states, both Elise and the female ghost could feel the power contained within.
Taking a hit from that fist would probably mean instant death.
The female ghost, already trembling with fear, looked on the verge of tears.
“Look how pathetic you are… Do you have any knives in your place? Any guns?”
Knives?! Guns?!
The old woman’s eyes widened in surprise.
Why did Su sound like a bandit?
The female ghost shook her head like a rattle drum, water flying everywhere.
“Stop splashing water!”
Su Fan frowned.
Upon hearing this, the rain that had been constantly falling over the female ghost’s head immediately stopped.
” Forget it, I’ll look inside myself.”
Watching this scene, Elise felt a lump in her throat, unsure what to say.
“Elise, do you want to find a handy weapon too?”
Su Fan’s voice came from inside the room.
“No, I’m fine…”
Elise stood outside the door, listening to the sounds of rummaging inside. Soon, Su Fan emerged, swinging a crowbar.
The faint whooshing sound it made as he moved it caused Elise’s eye to twitch.
“You had something this good and didn’t say so earlier? This is much better than a small knife.”
Su Fan nodded in satisfaction.
“You’re coming with us.”
He spoke to the female ghost, his tone brooking no argument.
The female ghost looked at the crowbar in Su Fan’s hand, whimpered, and nodded.
Thus, the party of two became a party of two humans and one ghost.
Along the way, the female ghost muttered intermittently.
“His voice is always in my head… I couldn’t escape it even by killing myself…”
“He said I was his pet… Recently, he found a new pet…”
Hearing this, Elise understood that the so-called new pet was likely a fragment of Quinn’s soul.
“He also partnered with someone else… They are both equally evil…”
“They made a plan to help each other achieve their goals…”
Partner?
Elise had never heard of evil spirits working together.
“That evil spirit that tried to kill you during the last séance, it was an old woman in a black wedding dress, right?”
Su Fan suddenly spoke up.
“Those two must have reached some kind of agreement.”
“The one with the oxygen mask wants Quinn, and the black-clad old woman wants to kill you.”
“If she isn’t lying, those two are probably together right now.”
Hearing this, fear rose in Elise’s heart.
During their previous encounter, she had realized she was no match for the black-clad old woman. Now, with the oxygen mask evil spirit added to the mix, this… this…
“This is perfect. We can take them both out at once.”
Su Fan’s voice came from beside her, causing Elise to glance over.
She saw that he was actually smiling.
The old woman suddenly felt uneasy and couldn’t help speaking up.
“Su… They aren’t as simple as you think… We should still be cautious.”
“I am being cautious. Look, I even brought a weapon for them.”
Su Fan waved the crowbar.
Seeing this, Elise could only sigh.
The female ghost led the way, Elise carried the small lamp, and Su Fan walked beside Elise.
Everything ahead was pitch black, the floor covered in thick white mist.
After walking for some time, they stopped in front of a building.
The female ghost halted at the doorway and turned around.
“They’re inside… Please don’t make me go in… I don’t want to see them… I’m begging you.”
The female ghost pleaded pitifully, but Su Fan remained unmoved.
“Open the door!”
Seeing this, the female ghost finally gave up hope and obediently opened the door.
The silent, empty room was cold and gloomy.
A single figure sat on the sofa, eyes tightly shut, a horrifying smile plastered on its face.
It seemed to sense Su Fan and the others’ arrival. It pointed ahead and sang a string of lyrics in a strange, melodic tone.
“I’ve always wanted to know what my future will be…”
“Tell me, friend, how can I see the end?”
The woman’s voice was piercing, echoing through the space, so eerie that Elise subconsciously held her breath.
But beside her, Su Fan frowned.
He directly swung the crowbar in his hand, aiming for the female ghost’s head!
Thwack!
In the deathly silent room, the sound was like a thunderclap!
Not only was the female ghost struck into nothingness, but the sofa was also smashed to pieces!
Wood splinters flew everywhere as Elise pulled the other female ghost aside for safety.
They exchanged a glance, seeing the stunned disbelief in each other’s eyes.
“Sounded awful. She deserved that.”
Elise opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
She saw Su Fan lift his crowbar again, his head snapping sharply towards the darkness beside Elise.
He leaped forward like a starving tiger pouncing on its prey, executing a powerful jumping slash, brutally aiming for a spot the two women couldn’t clearly see!
The airflow stirred up by the crowbar flipped back the veil in the darkness, revealing the ugly face beneath.
That face seemed to hold a trace of incredulity.
Suddenly, the black-clad old woman’s figure jerked backward, gliding as if on rails, trying to retreat beyond the range of Su Fan’s crowbar.
But a cold smirk curled Su Fan’s lips.
Come here!
The black-clad old woman’s retreating form shot forward towards Su Fan at an even greater speed, arriving precisely at the point where the crowbar descended!
Crack!
A sickening sound of crushing bone echoed as the black figure’s entire arm went limp!
The black-clad old woman tried to shriek, but a large hand instantly clamped around her throat!
In her field of vision, the young man grinned, revealing a set of stark white teeth.
“Run? You think you can escape?”
