The Winchester brothers had rarely seen evil spirits reveal their true forms.
Or perhaps, their power had been too weak before—they knew how to banish them but couldn’t see where they actually were.
This was the first time they’d seen one so clearly, up close.
The floating figure, the wisps of black mist emanating from beneath the black dress, the chilling wind that brushed against their faces…
It was undoubtedly an evil spirit.
Remembering the earlier scene, the Winchester brothers in the car fell into simultaneous contemplation until Su Fan opened the car door and got into the back seat.
“So… she really isn’t a ‘Broom Ghost,’ right?”
The words slipped out before Sam could stop himself, and he immediately felt awkward.
He’d been so focused on recalling the scene, his brain had momentarily short-circuited.
Thinking about it calmly, would an ordinary broom have that level of resentment?
Sure enough, Su Fan shook his head with a slight smile.
“She’s in here now. Want to ask her yourself?”
Su Fan took a tarot card from his pocket.
“No thanks,” Dean, who was driving, immediately refused.
He certainly didn’t want his precious car tainted by traces of an evil spirit.
“Is it far from here?” Su Fan asked, looking out the window.
“It’s still quite a distance. With good road conditions, it should take about three or four hours,” Sam answered truthfully.
“Mind if I put on some music?” Dean suddenly spoke up.
“Come on, not your old, dusty rock music again.”
“I wasn’t asking you, I was asking Su.”
During the brothers’ bickering, Su Fan indicated he had no problem with it.
Satisfied, Dean turned on the car stereo.
With the journey being long, the brothers couldn’t help but strike up a conversation with Su Fan.
“When dealing with spirits, Dean and I usually find where their bones are buried, dig them up and burn them, or resolve their lingering attachments,” Sam said curiously. “What method do you usually use, Su?”
“Directly damaging the spiritual entity is enough. I can not only see them but also touch them.”
Su Fan’s answer once again broadened the brothers’ horizons.
“You can see ghosts without any other instruments or help?”
“Mhm.”
Hearing this, Dean, who was driving, couldn’t help but click his tongue.
For most people, the scariest thing about ghosts is the unknown—the fact you can’t see or touch them.
Once you can see them and know how to deal with them, their threat level drops significantly.
Having such a gift was indeed enviable.
But after thinking for a moment, Dean fell silent, then carefully asked, “Has this ability ever caused you any trouble?”
“I mean, when did you acquire it, Su?”
Sam glanced at his brother, understanding his meaning.
If the ability to see ghosts was innate, wouldn’t that mean Su had lived in a world different from ordinary people since childhood?
For a child whose mind and body weren’t fully developed, such a life would be terrifying.
The brothers knew all too well the psychological scars ghosts could leave.
“No trouble at all.”
Su Fan’s tone was very calm, as if discussing something utterly mundane.
“My ability to exorcise and see ghosts wasn’t innate. I gained it through cultivation.”
“If I encounter an evil spirit, I eliminate it. There’s nothing to dwell on.”
If one got hung up on even that, what was the point of cultivating?
After hearing Su Fan’s words, Dean roughly understood Su Fan’s situation.
Regarding exorcism, the young man in the back seat had a complete, firm set of beliefs that wouldn’t be easily shaken.
Such resilience made his own concern seem somewhat unnecessary.
“Dealing with ghosts and monsters year after year inevitably changes a person’s psyche. You two need to reflect on yourselves regularly to avoid being taken advantage of by certain entities.”
“Life-and-death battles are frightening, but the truly dangerous crises often originate from vulnerabilities within.”
“Remember, when you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.”
The Winchester brothers fell into thoughtful silence upon hearing this.
Meanwhile, Su Fan, looking out the window, began recalling the general plot of Supernatural.
This popular supernatural drama was incredibly long, spanning well over a dozen seasons.
He hadn’t watched much of the later content.
This point in time should be shortly after the two brothers embarked on their journey to find their father.
[The demons in Supernatural, the lurking demons, and other demons…]
So far, Su Fan had already encountered three types of demons.
Compared to the first two, the demon that possessed the child back then was more dangerous.
What puzzled Su Fan was that it had been almost two months, yet there hadn’t been any movement from it.
Thinking of this, Su Fan’s expression grew slightly more serious.
The longer the preparation time, the bigger the action.
The place where that demon appeared was very close to Su Fan’s location.
Once it acted, he would inevitably be affected.
Not to mention it had already noticed Su Fan.
Before, his strength was insufficient to take the initiative. Now, he could make some probes.
But before that, he needed to make some preparations.
Su Fan slipped his hand into his pocket. The tarot card hosting the Seer Witch exuded a faint, cool aura.
Ever since his last massacre in the other realm, Su Fan hadn’t been able to enter it again.
He had only discovered this recently.
This meant not only was his plan to use the spirits there to grind skill proficiency foiled, but the nourishment the Seer Witch ghost needed was also cut off.
To improve his strength quickly, Su Fan decided to put the antique shop business aside for now and focus on exorcism.
[The Winchester brothers bear a mark left by a demon, which continuously attracts supernatural entities to them.]
He was just worrying about a lack of activity, and then these two showed up.
In that case, he might as well make good use of their special constitution.
If one comes, kill one; if two come, kill a pair.
…
Avoiding rush hour, the drive was smooth.
Dean’s beloved car soon pulled up in front of the house that had left a shadow on his childhood.
Dean got out first, took out a key, and opened the door.
“Jenny took our advice and went away to lay low for a while,” Sam explained after getting out of the car. “Ms. Elise and her two assistants have left. The key was left with us.”
“Good, saves time,” Su Fan nodded.
The three entered the house one after another. But the moment they stepped inside, they were hit by a bone-chilling, icy wind.
“We’ve been gone less than half a day, and this place already feels like it’s been uninhabited for years…” Dean looked around.
The furnishings were exactly the same, yet it felt worlds apart from yesterday.
“How many spirits are here in total?”
“Quite a few.”
Su Fan answered casually while taking out a small bottle of clear liquid and handing it to the brothers.
“What’s this?”
“Dew from willow leaves. Try applying it to your eyes.”
Skeptical but following instructions, Dean did so. When he opened his eyes again, he immediately stepped back several paces.
“Holy sh*t!”
