Qiu Zifan felt like everything was a joke.
In the past, what he hated most about Ye Shaohua was how she had appeared out of nowhere and used some method to become his wife. Because of his grandfather, he had endured it, but he had taken out all his frustrations on Ye Shaohua.
He had watched her make a fool of herself, knowing full well that she was new to the Z Alliance and didn’t understand anything. He had mocked her for not inheriting her grandfather’s talent, and when she looked hurt, he had secretly thought she deserved it.
Now, looking back, what right did he have?
If she hadn’t possessed the talent she did now, Qiu Zifan didn’t even dare to imagine what she might have become.
Old Master Qiu watched as Qiu Zifan left in a daze. He didn’t stop him or try to comfort him. He himself hadn’t been able to move on, so how could he advise his grandson?
“Yuchen, let’s get a divorce,” Qiu Zifan said when he returned home. Meng Yuchen was still complaining about how simple the food was that day.
The more time he spent with her, the more he couldn’t help but compare her to Ye Shaohua.
The old Ye Shaohua never complained. She would quietly strive to do better, silently pursue her interests, and then cautiously send him text messages.
Thinking back, during that time, she really hadn’t caused him any trouble.
If he hadn’t known about that medicinal herb, it might have been different. But now that he did, and knowing what Ye Shaohua’s intentions had been when she married him, Qiu Zifan found it impossible to continue his relationship with Meng Yuchen.
Just like how he had once thought Meng Yuchen shared his interests, it now seemed like a joke. She was no different from any other vain woman.
“What did you say? Divorce?” Meng Yuchen couldn’t believe it. “Are you crazy?”
Having said it, Qiu Zifan calmed down. “It’s over. We’ll go through the formalities in three days.”
Three days later, Qiu Zifan stood on the street with the divorce papers in hand, feeling as though the world had changed.
He took out his phone and typed out a message: “If there had been no Meng Yuchen and no divorce, would you have left the Qiu family?”
Qiu Zifan truly thought Ye Shaohua wouldn’t respond.
But two minutes later, he received a reply with just two words:
“No.”
After reading the message, Qiu Zifan stood by the roadside for a long time.
Ye Shaohua deleted Qiu Zifan’s number after sending the message. The original host had married him out of affection, and perhaps even Grandpa Ye hadn’t anticipated that his well-meaning act of entrusting his granddaughter to someone would lead to her death.
Yet, even so, the original host’s wish didn’t include seeking revenge on anyone.
—
“Miss Ye, the boss has gone on a mission,” Officer Ter said when he saw Ye Shaohua. “He should be back by tonight.”
“A mission?” Ye Shaohua frowned. “I see.”
She tugged at the luxurious coat she was wearing, considering taking it off, but then thought of Mrs. Shu and let it be, sighing softly.
“008, in the original plot, isn’t Ye Shaohua about to be assassinated?” she asked the trashy 008 in her mind.
008, sitting cross-legged in the virtual space, replied, “Theoretically, the time has come.”
At the same time, on the battlefield outside the Z Alliance.
“Has Ter received the message?” Yun Hao’s expression was fierce.
The guard beside him shook his head, anxious like an ant on a hot pan. “The message can’t get through.”
“How’s the boss?” Yun Hao was also in disarray. Everyone had thought Yun Mo’s illness was cured, but who could have expected him to collapse again at such a critical moment?
“Not good,” the military doctor said, shaking his head. “He can only rely on his own recovery. Outside are the M Alliance’s wanderers. The boss ruined several of their deals before. They won’t let him go easily.”
Just then, a bell rang outside the makeshift tent.
Yun Hao saw Ye Shaohua being brought in, and his face turned cold. “What are you doing here?”
Over the past months, his opinion of Ye Shaohua hadn’t improved much. This was a battlefield, not some playground for doctors. What was Ye Shaohua, who had never attended military school, doing here?
Especially when Yun Hao glanced at the elaborate coat she was wearing. Was she here to fight or to attend a beauty pageant?
“Captain, the wanderers are here!” A soldier in camouflage rushed in, his arm bleeding.
Yun Hao’s expression turned serious. “You, escort the boss and this nuisance away. If there’s danger, protect the boss at all costs. I’ll cover the rear. As for you, Miss Ye, if necessary, we’ll sacrifice you.”
As the group prepared to leave, the team assigned to protect Yun Mo noticed that Ye Shaohua had stopped behind Yun Hao and wasn’t moving.
Yun Hao frowned, about to speak, when he saw a dark mass flying toward them in the sky.
Recognizing what it was, Yun Hao shouted in panic, “Go! Those are mutated beasts! Alert the entire Z Alliance immediately!”
Mutated beasts were the greatest threat on this planet, and a swarm like this could destroy their entire world.
“Why aren’t you leaving?!” Yun Hao yelled at Ye Shaohua, who was still standing there. “Are you waiting to die?”
Ye Shaohua didn’t move. She stared at the dark mass, her expression grim. “008, are you messing with me?”
008: “…Let me explain. Your time in this world…”
Ye Shaohua snorted coldly and directly muted it.
She took out her phone and made a call.
“What’s Miss Ye doing? Making a call? Does she not know regular phones don’t work here?” the man beside Yun Hao frowned.
Yun Hao ignored Ye Shaohua. “She probably doesn’t even know what’s happening. You, take the boss and leave. I’ll buy you time.”
He drew his weapon, no longer concerned about the wanderers, and prepared to face the mutated beasts head-on.
But just then, a loud engine roar echoed in the sky.
Yun Hao looked up in shock. The black bat-shaped aircraft was unmistakably from the recently risen Hackers Alliance, known for possessing the most advanced technology in the world!
Having followed Yun Mo for months, Yun Hao naturally recognized these people.
He admired experts, and when he saw the green-clad youth leading the aircraft, his face lit up with joy. He recognized him as Barry, the famous hacker from the Hackers Alliance.
The boss had once said that Barry was the most mysterious hacker in the original Hackers Alliance, possessing skills beyond human imagination. The world’s most advanced defense system was his creation.
Just as Yun Hao was about to speak, a slightly lazy voice rang out.
“Barry, take General Yun and the others away. Activate the Z Alliance’s first-level defense. I’ll cover the rear.”
Yun Hao turned to see Ye Shaohua, who had taken off the extravagant coat he so despised. The voice was unmistakably hers.
“Ye…” Yun Hao was about to tell her not to cause trouble when he heard Barry’s firm response.
“Yes, Boss Ye!”
