“Next!”
Hearing the call, the chubby guy waved at Qin Yunxuan. “Alright, buddy, I’m heading in. Good luck!”
Qin Yunxuan gave a slight nod.
As the chubby guy pushed the door open and entered, his face immediately lit up with an ingratiating smile at the sight of the three interviewers.
“Good afternoon, esteemed panel! My name is—”
……
Five minutes later, he walked out dejectedly.
“Next!”
Now, it was Qin Yunxuan’s turn.
“Go get ’em, man! Show ’em what you’ve got!” the chubby guy said with a forced chuckle.
Stepping inside, Qin Yunxuan saw three people seated across the table—two men and one woman.
“Please introduce yourself,” the man on the left said flatly.
Qin Yunxuan frowned slightly, recalling the chubby guy’s advice.
“You already have my information in front of you. Why waste time with redundant formalities?” she replied calmly.
Huh?
The three interviewers exchanged surprised glances. This candidate had quite the attitude.
“However, we need to assess whether your credentials are genuine, as well as evaluate your communication and logical reasoning skills,” the man on the right explained.
“I don’t think any of that matters,” Qin Yunxuan said coolly. “I’m here to find a business partner. Are any of you in charge here?”
A business partner?
The man on the left narrowed his eyes in displeasure. “If you’re not here for the interview, please leave immediately. We don’t—”
Before he could finish, the woman in the middle cut him off.
“Hold on. I’m actually quite intrigued by this young man. Let’s hear him out.”
After hours of interviewing cookie-cutter candidates, she was eager for something different. If nothing else, this would be a refreshing break.
“I’m Xiao Ruolin, the general manager of this company. What exactly do you mean by ‘business partner’?”
The woman appeared to be in her early thirties, her hair elegantly coiled into a bun, exuding the sharp aura of a seasoned professional.
“Similar to the vibe Sister Lin gives off,” Qin Yunxuan noted internally, though her expression remained composed.
“I’ve developed an antivirus program capable of effectively countering all existing malware and hacker attacks. I’m looking for a partner to collaborate with, which is why I approached Feixing Networks.”
“You’re welcome to test the software’s capabilities. If satisfied, we can discuss cooperation.”
The three interviewers were stunned. They were here to recruit employees, not to entertain pitches for antivirus software!
Was this some kind of joke?
Moreover, developing an antivirus program required immense resources and expertise—how could someone who looked like a student possibly pull it off?
The woman in the middle smirked. “Do you have any idea how many years it takes to develop an antivirus program? Or the time and funding required for deployment and maintenance?”
“Even the top-tier antivirus software on the market can’t claim to defend against all malware and hacker attacks.”
Qin Yunxuan nodded. “I’m aware. But mine can.”
The woman sighed. “Please leave. We won’t disrupt our interview process any further.”
Qin Yunxuan was irritated.
Why wouldn’t they believe her when she was telling the truth?
“Would you prefer to walk out on your own, or shall we have security escort you?” the man on the right asked mockingly.
Seeing no other option, Qin Yunxuan left.
“Unbelievable. You people wouldn’t recognize gold even if it hit you in the face! You’ll regret this!” she muttered under her breath, fuming.
The failed attempt left her frustrated.
She now realized that even with an exceptional product, it meant nothing if no one took her seriously.
“How can I convince people that this antivirus software is the real deal?”
Talent alone wasn’t enough—visibility mattered just as much.
Lost in thought, Qin Yunxuan’s stomach growled loudly.
She had been so busy that she hadn’t eaten all day.
But…
Glancing at the meager cash in her pocket, she dismissed the idea of dining out.
“Better head back to campus. The cafeteria food isn’t half bad,” she consoled herself.
Yunjing University, Second Cafeteria.
Qin Yunxuan absentmindedly poked at her rice, still preoccupied with her financial woes, when a figure suddenly slid into the seat across from her.
A gust of fragrant air wafted over as a strikingly beautiful girl plopped down in front of her.
Qin Yunxuan was stunned. Who was this? Did she know Qin Lang?
But her research had confirmed that Qin Lang had never been in a relationship—how could he possibly know such a gorgeous girl?
“Wait, isn’t that Chen Xiyuan, the campus belle?”
“Yeah! Who’s that guy sitting with her?”
“No clue. Must be a coincidence.”
……
Chen Xiyuan? Qin Yunxuan frowned.
She was certain Qin Lang had never mentioned anyone by that name.
“It’s you, isn’t it?” Chen Xiyuan’s eyes burned with a mix of anger and certainty. “I know it’s you!”
“Miss, you’ve got the wrong person,” Qin Yunxuan replied, subtly leaning back.
Chen Xiyuan’s cheeks flushed. She gritted her teeth and hissed, “Don’t play dumb! You’re that pervert who snuck into the women’s restroom yesterday!”
Qin Yunxuan’s breath hitched. Someone had recognized her?
“Seriously, you’re mistaken,” she said, standing up to leave.
If this got out, she’d never live it down.
“If you walk away, I’ll expose what you did!” Chen Xiyuan threatened.
Qin Yunxuan’s brow twitched. Was she being blackmailed?
Her? Qin Yunxuan? Never one to yield to threats!
“I’ve told you before—we’re not compatible. Stop chasing me!” Qin Yunxuan raised her voice deliberately. “You’re beautiful and talented. You’ll find someone better. Why obsess over me?”
Her words were like a grenade tossed into a silent lake—instantly detonating chaos among the eavesdropping students.
Chen Xiyuan’s eyes widened in disbelief. This guy… was utterly shameless!
“I—I never—”
“I know my rejection hurt you, but I’m just not good enough for you. Happy now?”
Seizing the moment while Chen Xiyuan was still stunned, Qin Yunxuan spun on her heel and bolted.
“Get back here!!” Chen Xiyuan’s enraged shriek echoed behind her. “Explain yourself!!”
