As soon as Qin Lang’s response was posted, everyone who had been following him was stunned.
“Whoa, that’s insane!”
“Holy crap, I just realized I’m literally incapable of saying anything other than ‘holy crap’!”
“‘A solitary wild duck flies alongside the sunset glow; autumn waters share a boundless hue with the distant sky.’ This line is pure poetry, like a painting come to life!”
“Why do I suddenly feel… like I’m not even worthy of being Qin Yunxuan’s fan anymore?”
“Is this what they call poetic genius? I looked it up, and it doesn’t seem to exist anywhere else. Did Qin Yunxuan come up with this herself?”
“Incredible. I bow down in awe!”
…
Qin Lang’s reply was exceptionally well-handled—no hysterics, no condescension, no looking down from on high. Instead, he had delivered that little anecdote with a tone of playful teasing.
It didn’t instantly reverse public opinion on the matter, but it did make many people pause and settle down, willing to wait and see what Qin Yunxuan would do next.
After all, no matter how much noise is made, in the end it’s the results that count, isn’t it?
That said, Qin Lang was genuinely concerned about the dissatisfaction brewing among his own fans.
He understood perfectly well that, given his current standing, his fans were his greatest support and his most powerful weapon.
He hadn’t fully shed the label of an idol artist yet. A little bit of fan service here and there wasn’t going to hurt anyone.
Once he reached the point where, like Chen Qiyun, he was universally recognized for his actual talent, then he would have far more space and freedom to do whatever his heart desired.
But for now… that time hadn’t come.
“Lin Jie, I have an idea!”
Qin Lang found Sister Lin, a look of determination in his eyes.
“Perfect timing, I needed to talk to you about something too!”
Seeing Qin Lang, Sister Lin continued, “I was just looking through some messages from our official fan club. Everyone’s really worried that in the future, you’ll shift your focus entirely behind the scenes instead of continuing as a singer. I think we need to put their minds at ease.”
Qin Lang nodded. “Exactly what I was thinking. So… I want to release an album.”
“Mm, that’s good then… Wait, what? You want to release an album?”
Sister Lin’s eyes widened in shock, as if she couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
But she recovered quickly.
In the past, Qin Yunxuan’s singing ability was simply atrocious. Even if you gave her a great song, she couldn’t deliver it with any real flavor.
So she had been stuck as a mere idol singer. Over a year since her debut, and she still hadn’t managed to put out a single album.
It wasn’t that the company refused to give her resources; it was just that Qin Yunxuan had absolutely zero natural talent in that department.
But things were different now. Qin Yunxuan had been completely reborn. Whether it was her singing technique or her songwriting, she was now head and shoulders above her peers.
And the songs she’d released recently… some of them could even be called timeless classics!
So yes… now was indeed the perfect time to release an album.
Doing so would also go a long way toward soothing the concerns of Qin Yunxuan’s fanbase.
Still… putting out an album was no simple task. You needed to prepare at least thirty or more songs upfront, then select the best ten or so to make the final cut for the album tracklist.
“Xuanxuan, it’s a great idea to want to release an album, but are you thinking of writing the entire thing yourself? Or… should we dig through the company’s music library? To be honest, though, the company’s vault of good songs is running pretty low these days…”
As a proud time-traveler, writing it all himself was the only option!
How embarrassing would it be for a time-traveler to do anything less?
“Ahem, Lin Jie, I want to write the entire album myself. No need to bother with the company’s music vault.”
Sister Lin nodded inwardly. Ever since Qin Yunxuan had revealed her extraordinary “creative talent,” she had known deep down that any future album from her would likely be entirely self-written.
But writing songs wasn’t something you could just whip up overnight. How many brilliant songwriters out there had to spend a year, sometimes even several years, just to craft one truly outstanding album?
And now Qin Yunxuan suddenly wanted to make an album—and make it entirely original, at that. This was no small undertaking.
“So what exactly are you planning?” Sister Lin asked.
Qin Lang blinked. “What’s there to plan? I just write ten songs, record them, and release the album, right?”
Sister Lin was floored. Qin Yunxuan had been in the entertainment industry for over a year now. How could she have no clue about what making an album actually entails?
“Xuanxuan, dear,” Sister Lin said cautiously, “you do know that an album requires at least ten tracks, which means we need to prepare fifteen to twenty songs to choose from. And then…”
“That won’t be necessary. I’ve already got it all mapped out in my head,” Qin Lang said.
“Besides, writing ten songs isn’t exactly a monumental task. Give me a couple of days, and I’ll hand over all the songs. Then we can just focus on recording.”
Cough!
Sister Lin’s eyes went wide. “What are you saying? You mean… you’re going to write ten songs in just a few days? That’s impossible!”
Qin Lang blinked again. “What’s impossible about it? Lin Jie, don’t forget—I’m a genius.”
The corner of Sister Lin’s mouth twitched. She desperately wanted to say something, but she realized she was finding Qin Yunxuan harder and harder to figure out.
Could she really be a genius, just as she claimed? The mind of a genius… truly was unfathomable.
“Fine. Since you’ve made up your mind, just go ahead and do it your way,” Sister Lin sighed.
“As long as you know what you’re doing. But regarding the National Poetry Competition…”
“Don’t worry, I won’t mess it up. I’m going to leave those people absolutely stunned,” Qin Lang said, a glint of eager anticipation flashing in his eyes.
A parallel-world version of the Chinese Poetry Competition… he was definitely going to give them a surprise.
Soon enough, news that Qin Yunxuan was planning to release an album began spreading rapidly across the internet.
Qin Lang also posted a special message on Weibo to make an official announcement to all his fans.
“To show my gratitude for all the love from my fans, I’ve decided to release a brand-new album soon. At the earliest, half a month; at the latest, one month from now, it will be unveiled. The song I’ve owed you all for so long will also be included on this album. I hope you’ll all enjoy it when the time comes!”
Qin Yunxuan is releasing an album?
Today really was just one juicy piece of news after another!
Just moments ago, the internet was buzzing about how Qin Yunxuan wasn’t focusing on her main career, and in the blink of an eye, she’d announced a new music album.
All of Qin Yunxuan’s fans were ecstatic.
See? Their idol really did care about how they felt!
An album coming out within a month—that had to mean Qin Yunxuan had been preparing for this for at least half a year!
They could only wonder what kind of songs would be on this album.
But just then, another piece of news began flooding everyone’s feeds.
“Did you guys hear? Diva Wen Yixuan says she’s dropping a new album this month too!”
“Oh my god, Diva Wen Yixuan? Hasn’t it been three years since her last album? Why so sudden?”
“It’s not that sudden, actually. There were rumors last year that she was working hard on a new album. It’s probably finished by now.”
“In that case… isn’t Xuanxuan’s debut album going to collide head-on with the Diva’s new release?”
