With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 7
[Congratulations, Host! You have officially completed your first swap. Reward: Newcomer’s Gift – “Others’ Swap Card” x1.]
[“Others’ Swap Card”: Allows the exchange of bodies between two non-host creatures. Duration is controlled by the host, with a maximum limit of six hours.]
After returning to his own body, Xia Xi hadn’t even had time to check his physical condition before being drawn in by the system’s barrage of text.
“So, I can even swap a person with a cat or a dog? But what’s the point of that? It doesn’t help me raise my own favorability.”
He rubbed his butt, unable to think of a practical use for the card.
“Still, I have to admit, the system’s auto-pilot is surprisingly considerate.”
Originally, Xia Xi had only hoped the system would keep his body at home for the afternoon without doing anything strange. But to his surprise, it followed his usual routine and went to his part-time job at the maid café to wash cups!
As for how Xia Xi—who had no memory of the auto-pilot—found out? Well, his phone messages told him everything.
In the chat window labeled “Rich but Dumb Boss Lady”, several concerned messages awaited him:
Boss Lady:
-
“If your throat’s bothering you, make sure to rest properly. Drink more hot water.”
-
“You scared me half to death when you suddenly fell over today!”
-
“I sent your wages to WeChat. Remember to collect them.”
-
“Seriously, why not become my personal butler? Wouldn’t that be more comfortable than washing cups?”
-
“…”
Yep, no mistake about it—this “dumb boss lady” was purely after his looks, dead set on making him her personal servant. If it weren’t for the fact that her café paid way more than other part-time jobs, he’d have long since put as much distance between himself and this crazy woman as possible.
From the chat logs, it seemed the system’s auto-pilot pretended to have a sore throat, staying quiet and reserved. Then, in the middle of his shift, when Xia Xi suddenly swapped feet with the young miss, it caused him to trip and fall.
Though the foot-swapping led to a minor mishap, things turned out alright in the end—no one got suspicious, and he still got paid. Xia Xi even caught himself wondering: Could I just stay in the young miss’s body all day, living the high life, while the system works my part-time job for me?
But that was just a pipe dream. Using a sore throat as an excuse might work for one day, but if he tried it every day, that “dumb boss lady” would probably barge into his home to “take care of him” in person.
Tossing his phone aside, Xia Xi didn’t bother replying to the boss’s messages. After collecting the WeChat transfer, he impulsively pulled out a few sheets of A4 paper and a long-unused graphite pencil, ready to unleash his creativity.
After all, he’d picked up quite a few drawing techniques while in the young miss’s body—why not try them out in his own?
A long while later…
Xia Xi fell silent.
Having never practiced drawing before, his body felt clumsy and awkward compared to Luo Xinyu’s muscle memory. The result wasn’t quite stick figures, but it was still hideously ugly.
So…
When the system said “Level 1”, did it just mean “able to draw”?!
Remembering Luo Xinyu’s Level 6 floral sketches, Xia Xi could only sigh at the long road ahead.
…
The next day…
Same old 8 a.m. lecture.
As a third-year student, his schedule was brutally simple—early classes, with only mornings booked.
“Hmph. You’re lucky you made it on time.”
Lin Xueling, still holding a grudge over Xia Xi “laughing at her feet” the day before, stood at the classroom door with an attendance scanner in her arms.
Normally, the class hadn’t used the scanner in weeks—it was meant to accommodate students who hired substitutes so they could leave early for internships or work.
But just to mess with Xia Xi, the class president had dug it out of retirement.
“Heh, c’mon, Class Prez, don’t take it to heart. I wasn’t laughing at you yesterday—I just thought of something funny.”
Xia Xi forced an awkward smile before slinking to a back-row seat under Lin Xueling’s sharp glare.
What baffled him, though, was that the girl then grabbed her things from the front row and plopped down right next to him, as if she’d “claimed him”.
Xia Xi couldn’t fathom why she was making such a big deal out of this. Sure, he’d accidentally blurted out in surprise when he saw her feet—but was that really worth this level of pettiness?
For the past three years, Lin Xueling had always been the gentle, easygoing type—except when it came to Xia Xi. With him, she turned into a nitpicking, unyielding force.
For example:
-
Every time homework was due, she’d scrutinize Xia Xi’s submission to see if he’d copied someone else.
-
Whenever books needed moving, she’d always volunteer him first (though, to her credit, she’d help too).
The list went on. For some reason, she’d made it her mission to hassle him at every turn.
Why did I have to go and swap feet with this walking headache? I brought this on myself.
“What’re you staring at? Didn’t get enough of a look yesterday? Keep it up and I’ll gouge your eyes out!”
She bared her little fangs at him, putting on her fiercest act.
“Fine, fine. I’ll just take a nap. Who’d wanna stare at your flat-chested self anyway?”
Xia Xi rolled his eyes and slumped onto the desk, ready to catch up on sleep.
Today’s lecture was some forgettable history class—no need to pay attention.
But Lin Xueling wasn’t having it. She pinched his arm hard.
“If you dare sleep, I’m calling the professor.”
“Then I’ll play games on my phone. Haven’t touched Auto Chess today anyway.”
“If you dare play, I’m calling the professor.”
Lin Xueling clung to him like a particularly stubborn leech. Most people would’ve lost their temper by now, but Xia Xi? After two years of this treatment, he’d long since mastered the art of keeping cool.
Losing his temper would only backfire.
After all, he was the guy in this scenario. If the girl started tearing up and playing victim, he’d be the one in trouble.
“What’s with that attitude? As a student, studying is your primary responsibility. You—”
As Lin Xueling droned on in his ear, Xia Xi had no choice but to flip open his textbook and pretend to listen.
Then—he spotted a white kitten napping by the windowsill, basking in the sunlight.
A wicked grin spread across his face.
Oh, you love studying so much? Love targeting me? Then how about you reflect on your actions as a kitten!
[Confirm use of “Others’ Swap Card”?]
“Confirm.”
[Selecting swap targets: Lin Xueling, Little White Cat. Choose swap type.]
“Two-way swap!”
[Swap complete.]
The girl beside him, who’d been glaring daggers just moments ago, suddenly slumped onto the desk. Her lips parted slightly, her breathing soft and even—the picture of peaceful sleep.
Meanwhile, the cat by the window jolted awake, fur standing on end as it let out a shrill yowl.
“MEOW!!!!!”
