With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 63
A wonderful day begins… begins with waking up in Lin Xuening’s cozy little nest.
Honestly, using someone else’s toiletries made Xia Xi feel a bit uncomfortable—like there was this weird, awkward feeling in the air.
Luckily, Lin Xuening herself was pretty tidy. Her toothbrush, face towels, and such didn’t have any strange smells. Otherwise, Xia Xi might’ve actually gagged.
“Ohayou, Cat Senpai!”
Following Lin Xuening’s routine, Xia Xi arrived at the classroom early. The moment she stepped inside, the first thing she saw was Cat Senpai napping on the windowsill.
It was kind of strange. Over in her original body, Xia Xi was still in a deep sleep, but in Lin Xuening’s body, she was full of energy. It felt like running two computers at once, except one of them had crashed and just wouldn’t boot up no matter what.
Could this be considered… single-player mode?
Xia Xi pulled out a sausage from the bag Lin Xuening usually carried and held it up to the little cat, who blinked its big eyes and tilted its head at her.
Cat Senpai was gracious enough to play along, letting out soft “mimi” sounds as it licked the sausage.
Watching the tiny tongue flick in and out while the cat’s belly rumbled softly, Xia Xi felt like the whole world had turned warm and fuzzy.
“Mew?”
Seemingly tired from eating, the kitten lifted its paw and started licking it.
They say cats only meow in that high-pitched, sweet tone when they’re around humans—otherwise, they sound like chain-smoking barflies.
But Xia Xi refused to believe it. How could such an adorable creature be a green tea? No way. Absolutely no way!
“Look, Class President Lin is teasing the cat again!”
Who—who’s talking behind my back?!
Xia Xi was always hyper-aware of maintaining Lin Xuening’s image, so the moment someone mentioned her, she instinctively turned to look.
“Ahem, good morning, Class President.”
It was Fan Wenhao, the top-ranked guy in their class.
Well, of course. For an 8 a.m. lecture, the only ones who’d show up at 7:10 were either the overachievers or the ones trying to snag the best seats in the back for an easy nap.
Though the latter was rare—after all, the temptation of a warm bed was deadly. Even Xia Xi would rather stay under the covers for five more minutes than eat breakfast.
“Good morning!”
Xia Xi had half a mind to snap, “Oh, so now you’re all smiles? Don’t think I didn’t hear you gossiping!” But then she remembered—she was Lin Xuening now, the sweet, gentle class president in everyone’s eyes.
If she actually said what she was thinking, Lin Xuening’s reputation would crumble in an instant.
Still, Xia Xi knew Lin Xuening’s true nature better than anyone. After being on the receiving end of her schemes for over two years, she had her all figured out.
“I heard Xia Xi’s in the hospital?”
Fan Wenhao casually took a seat in the front row before turning to look at Lin Xuening.
Xia Xi really wanted to retort, “What’s it to you?” But what came out instead was, “Yeah, I didn’t know you cared so much about your classmates.”
There was a hint of sarcasm in her tone, but since it was coming from Lin Xuening, no one would suspect a thing. The kind class president would never throw shade, right?
If Fan Wenhao knew what she was really thinking, Xia Xi would’ve loved to add, “Yep, I’m totally mocking you right now.”
She barely even talked to most of her classmates. How did news of her hospitalization spread so fast?
She’d checked Lin Xuening’s phone—the only place it had been mentioned was in their dorm group chat. There was no way this should’ve gotten out.
“Haha, we’re all classmates, after all~”
Fan Wenhao scratched the back of his head and laughed it off.
“I heard you’re going to take care of him at the hospital?”
Wait, how did that get out?!
If Fan Wenhao knew, chances were most of the guys in class knew too. Some blabbermouth must’ve spilled—how annoying.
“Why would I go take care of him? I’m sure the nurses are looking after Xia Xi just fine.”
Of course, Xia Xi wouldn’t admit to something like this. Openly saying she was going to care for a male classmate would just invite trouble—like people spreading nasty rumors.
By noon, it could easily turn into: “Hey, did you hear? That class president from XX class sneaked off to the hospital with her ‘little boyfriend’ for some ‘fun.’ How bold!”
And the worst part? The ones spreading these rumors were usually other girls. Xia Xi had no idea how some people could spew such filth with those shrill, gossipy voices.
“Phew~ See? I told you our class president wouldn’t go take care of a troublemaker like him!”
Fan Wenhao grinned and slapped his friend’s shoulder, looking way too pleased with himself.
“You owe me lunch. And I’m gonna make you pay big time.”
Ah, so that’s why he was so happy—they’d made a bet. Xia Xi almost felt bad for his friend. The guy should’ve won, but thanks to her little white lie, he was stuck footing the bill.
After giving Cat Senpai a few belly rubs, Xia Xi headed to her seat.
This time, she didn’t go to the back row—her usual spot—but sat in the front instead.
Well, what choice did she have? Lin Xuening always sat in the front. The only reason she’d gone to the back before was to target Xia Xi, making sure he couldn’t sleep or play on his phone. How evil.
“Angel Sister, you are going to take care of Xia Xi, right? Please don’t just leave him there!”
Oh, for heaven’s sake.
This silly girl actually believed it.
Hadn’t she said yesterday that she’d take over caring for him for three days? How could she not see that was just a lie to protect her reputation?
“Don’t worry, I was just messing with them. I’ll take care of Xia Xi.”
To stop the girl from overthinking, Xia Xi lowered her voice to reassure her.
“Oh, good, good! But speaking of lunch—what are you gonna eat, Angel Sister? And what are you bringing for Xia Xi?”
Lunch?
Xia Xi hadn’t actually thought about that.
Normally, she’d just check the fridge and cook whatever was left.
There was even one time she ate stir-fried potatoes for two weeks straight—the only meat in her diet coming from takeout.
“How about some hot pot-stewed snacks?”
It had been a while since she’d had any, and the thought made her mouth water.
“Can we pick something else? Hot pot-stew is so high in calories… I feel like I’d gain weight just eating it.”
But there were plenty of veggie options too…
Whatever. If she didn’t want it, Xia Xi could pick something else. It was only right to respect the original owner’s dietary preferences—well, except for Liu Yiyi. That girl’s room was practically a landfill of instant noodle cups. She probably spent all day glued to her computer, brainstorming story plots.
Eating instant noodles every day? No thanks.
They’re great once in a while, but having them constantly would make anyone sick to their stomach.
“Then… how about this?!”
