With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 6
“Head Maid, come quick! The young lady really stood up!”
“I’m not lying—I saw it with my own eyes!”
The high-pitched, excitable voice of the young maid echoed from outside the door, met by a colder, more composed response.
“If I find out you’re lying, you know the consequences.”
The moment the words fell, another round of knocking sounded—followed, just like before, by the door being shoved open without permission.
It was as if they were the masters of this house, barging in to catch a thief or an intruder.
“Are all the maids in your household this ill-mannered?” Xia Xi muttered to Luo Xinyu from her wheelchair.
How could a young lady of such a prestigious family have maids who lacked even basic courtesy? Sure, they knocked—but they didn’t wait for a response before barging in, shouting and making a scene without a shred of respect.
They weren’t even as polite as the girls at maid cafés, who at least wore sweet smiles, calling customers “Master” with impeccable service.
“I’m used to it,” Luo Xinyu replied with a shrug. “My parents are rarely home, so the head maid and the others are the ones who take care of me.”
She had long grown accustomed to it. With her family always busy working, the maids were practically her daily companions.
To her, they did their jobs well—even if their manners were sometimes lacking.
Xia Xi frowned but said nothing. If the actual mistress of the house didn’t care, why should she meddle?
“Huh? Young Lady, weren’t you just standing up a moment ago?” The young maid’s eyes widened in confusion. She had seen her mistress rise from the wheelchair, ready to walk—so why was she sitting again?
The head maid shot her a sharp glare before stepping forward with a practiced smile.
“Young Lady, would you mind if I examined your legs?”
Xia Xi’s expression turned icy, her voice dropping to a frosty tone entirely unlike Luo Xinyu’s usual softness.
“Yes. I mind.”
The head maid stiffened, caught off guard.
Strange. The usually timid young lady suddenly seemed… dominant. That piercing gaze even reminded her of the master of the house.
“My apologies, Young Lady, but I’m only concerned about your condition. An examination would help us better assist you. Don’t you wish to recover sooner?”
Ah, the classic manipulative approach.
This might work on someone as kind and naive as Luo Xinyu, but Xia Xi—a university student who juggled part-time jobs to pay tuition—wasn’t so easily fooled.
As the saying goes: If I have no morals, I can’t be guilt-tripped or gaslit.
“I said I mind. Are you hard of hearing?”
Her glare pinned the head maid in place. After all, no matter how much authority the maid held, she was still just a servant. Angering the mistress meant losing her job.
“From now on, don’t use my legs as an excuse. I know my own condition—I don’t need your concern.”
Luo Xinyu had private tutors and a personal physician. Her legs were none of the head maid’s business.
“Especially you.” Xia Xi’s voice sharpened. “Remember your place. I’m the mistress here.”
The head maid, it seemed, was a bully who only targeted the weak. Faced with a firm stance, she immediately backed down.
“…Understood.”
“Good. Now leave. Have dinner sent to my room tonight—I won’t be dining in the hall.”
After issuing a few more orders, Xia Xi finally dismissed the two maids, thoroughly satisfied.
For once, she had truly experienced the thrill of being a young mistress. In her own body, she’d never dare speak to others like that.
“That was amazing!”
Just as Xia Xi was basking in her triumph, Luo Xinyu’s voice piped up—filled with admiration.
“Huh?”
“The way you spoke just now! I can’t believe I said those things… and even scared off the head maid!”
“Pfft, this is nothing. As the Grand Sorcerer of the Celestial Emperor, I’ve seen far greater scenes.”
Being praised by a beautiful girl? Yeah, like that would make him happy! (It totally did.)
“Hehe, sure, sure. The all-knowing, all-powerful Sorcerer~ So… shall we continue drawing?”
Afraid that the sudden improvement in her legs would raise suspicion, Xia Xi had canceled part of the swap the moment the young maid ran off to tattle.
Thankfully, the System’s [Swap Card] had no time limit, allowing her to revert at will. Otherwise, if the head maid had actually inspected her, those perfectly functional legs would’ve been impossible to explain.
“Not today.”
Xia Xi glanced outside, where the sky had already darkened, and prepared to end the swap.
Between this and the earlier swap with the class monitor, the total duration had reached a staggering ten hours.
She had also learned enough for one day. There was such a thing as too much practice.
Suddenly, Luo Xinyu—still seated in the wheelchair—shivered.
Her large, doe-like eyes softened in an instant, her entire demeanor shifting so drastically it was as if another person had taken her place.
“Hmph. Jerk. Pervert. Leaving without even saying goodbye…”
Her fingers pressed into her own numb thighs, squeezing lightly.
Everything that had just happened felt like a dream.
And if possible… she didn’t want to wake up from it.
Remembering how Xia Xi had kept sneaking glances at her chest, even nosebleeding at one point, she couldn’t help but laugh.
And he had the nerve to call her an airheaded young lady! He was just a flustered, inexperienced boy himself.
Pulling out her phone, she dialed a number.
“What can this humble little brother do for his esteemed elder sister?!” A young man’s energetic voice burst through the speaker.
“Xingchen, could you look into someone named ‘Chen Xi’ for me? Probably a shy guy between 16 and 25.”
Even with her own brother, Luo Xinyu phrased it as a request.
Her younger brother, Luo Xingchen, was 18—a freshman in university. Having grown up navigating high society alongside their father, his connections far surpassed hers.
As for why she asked him instead of their parents?
Simple. If their father found Chen Xi first, his first move wouldn’t be a friendly chat—it’d be eliminating the guy who dared get close to his daughter. He wasn’t one for reasoning. Countless people who had interacted with Luo Xinyu had mysteriously vanished from her life.
So after weighing her options, she decided to entrust this to her brother. Luo Xingchen was reliable.
Hanging up, Luo Xinyu sat at her desk, fingertips gently tracing the rough sketches scattered across it.
Then, for no apparent reason, she smiled.
