With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 53
“Oh no, something terrible has happened! Someone, come quick!”
Just as Xia Xi was happily wandering around the convention with her little sister, a sudden shout erupted from somewhere in the venue.
The crowd instantly surged toward the commotion.
Even some of the teachers, who had been exhausted from walking and had curled up in a corner to sneak a break, perked up and hurried toward the source of the noise.
Every convention had its share of drama, and no one wanted to miss the chance to witness it firsthand.
“Hurry, hurry! Xiao Cha, Leng Jie, let’s go check it out too!”
Xia Yue, who had been looking completely drained just moments ago, suddenly sprang back to life, afraid of missing out on a good spot to spectate.
Xia Xi rubbed her slightly sore calves, then gave her thighs a quick pat before reluctantly jogging after Xia Yue.
That said, Bai Xiao Cha’s short little legs really did have a nice feel to them. Xia Yue was lucky—getting to slather sunscreen on her every day meant she could cop a feel whenever she wanted.
“I feel like Mr. Ghost is thinking something rude again…”
Bai Xiao Cha’s voice echoed resentfully in her mind.
Ever since earlier, the gaze from her body had been drifting toward her legs now and then. Thanks to their shared senses, Xiao Cha knew exactly what Xia Xi was looking at.
“Haha, no way! I’m just appreciating something beautiful.”
Xia Xi’s forced explanation only made things worse.
Bai Xiao Cha was certain—this ghost possessing her body was a total leg connoisseur! He was practically glued to Xiyu Jie’s legs at this point!
“Xiao Cha, you’re muttering to yourself again. Since when did you pick up this habit?”
Bai Xiao Cha hadn’t told anyone about being possessed by a ghost. For one, it sounded way too fantastical—who would believe her? And secondly, she didn’t think Mr. Ghost was a bad spirit. He just wanted to experience life a little, so why not?
Didn’t anime always have those guardian spirit tropes? Like when the heroine was in trouble, the spirit would take over and save the day!
Admittedly, Xiao Cha hadn’t seen any particularly impressive skills from Mr. Ghost yet, but she was sure that one day, he’d rescue her from some dire situation!
“Nah, I was just thinking about what to eat for dinner~”
Xia Yue stared straight into Xia Xi’s eyes, trying to gauge whether she was lying.
If this were any ordinary guy being scrutinized by a beauty like Xia Yue, they’d probably avert their gaze out of sheer nervousness.
But Xia Xi was different. This was his little sister, someone he’d lived with for years—he was long used to her intense stares. Besides, compared to Luo Xinyu and Liu Jiaying, who were both far more mature and alluring, Xia Yue was nothing. He’d seen the world!
“Alright, I’ll believe you this time.”
Seeing that Xiao Cha’s gaze didn’t waver, Xia Yue accepted the excuse about dinner.
Everyone knew Bai Xiao Cha was a foodie, so it wasn’t strange for her to murmur about dishes under her breath.
“Look, that must be where it happened, right?”
Just as Xia Yue and Xia Xi were bickering, Leng Xiyu grabbed both of them by the collars and nodded toward the crowd ahead.
“Oh! That’s it! What happened to that guy?”
Xia Yue stood on her tiptoes, straining to see what was happening in the center of the crowd.
Her height just barely allowed her to catch a glimpse, but Xia Xi was out of luck.
With Bai Xiao Cha’s standard 155cm loli build, even on tiptoe, all she could see was a sea of backs and heads.
“Pfft, here, I’ll carry you.”
Leng Xiyu, noticing the flustered little loli, effortlessly hooked her hands under Xia Xi’s arms and lifted her high into the air.
Xia Xi was like a doll in Xiyu’s hands—lifted up, over her head, and then plopped onto her shoulders.
Since she was wearing a skirt, the moment she was raised, the fabric draped down, covering Xiyu’s entire face.
A warm breath seeped through from beneath the skirt, making Xia Xi flush and quickly adjust the fabric.
“Xiao Cha, still a fan of the classic blue-and-white stripes, huh~?”
Leng Xiyu covered her mouth, giggling. Not that she’d ever admit she did it on purpose.
“Xiyu Jie is so mean… I love it!”
Good grief, Bai Xiao Cha was hopeless.
She was the one being teased, yet here she was, squealing with excitement in her mind?
Perched on Xiyu’s shoulders, Xia Xi wrapped her arms around the older girl’s head for balance, finally getting a clear view of the scene.
A young man in a security guard uniform lay sprawled on the ground, a pool of red spreading beneath him. A cleaver was embedded in his back, seemingly pinning him to the floor. The area around the wound was completely soaked in red.
Holy crap, was this a dead body?
Standing beside him was a girl cosplaying a fox spirit. At first, she’d thought it was just a cosplayer doing a “wounded” act, so she’d gone over for a photo.
But after nudging the guy a few times with no response, she’d panicked and screamed.
Even now, with so many people gathered around, the guy on the ground hadn’t moved an inch.
“Mr. Ghost, can you close your eyes? Xiao Cha’s a little scared…”
Bai Xiao Cha didn’t want to look at such a horrifying scene, but since Xia Xi was in control, she had no choice but to endure it. So she pleaded softly.
“What’s there to be scared of? That guy’s obviously just cosplaying. It’s so fake.”
Xia Xi pouted.
All this fuss over a cosplayer pretending to be dead? Really?
“Xiao Cha, what are you talking about? That guy isn’t moving!”
Xia Yue frowned at Xia Xi’s remark.
She hadn’t called an ambulance—while saving a life was important, in today’s society, whoever called for help would be held responsible afterward. With only her and her brother left in the family, they couldn’t afford to get scammed.
“Come on, real blood isn’t that color. That’s obviously ketchup!”
To prove her point, Xia Xi pulled up some blood reference images on her phone.
Clearly, the “blood” on the security guy was way too vibrant.
“Then what about the knife? That can’t be fake, right?”
Xia Yue wasn’t ready to back down yet.
“Look closely—there’s obvious tape around the blade. It’s just a prop cleaver split in half and stuck to his front and back.”
Now that she mentioned it, Xia Yue and Leng Xiyu noticed it too.
It was clearly a prop knife—plastic, not metal, since it didn’t reflect light like real steel would.
That explained most of it, but why wasn’t the guy reacting at all?
Was he having a hypoglycemic episode and passed out?
Most cosplayers carried candy with them to avoid low blood sugar during long convention days.
“Nah, I don’t think it’s low blood sugar. It’s more like…”
