With My Ability To Swap, I Will Never End Up In A Love Triangle Mess - Chapter 20
“Alright, I’ll stop here for today. I’m heading out now.”
Xia Xi looked at the twenty or so drawings in front of him and nodded in satisfaction.
After his drawing skills leveled up to LV3, the difference was undeniable. At LV2, he could only sketch simple cartoon figures, but now, under Luo Xinyu’s guidance, he could perfectly recreate scenes from Hotarubi no Mori e, a masterpiece from his past life.
Though the jump to LV3 felt oddly fast—achieved in less than a week—it didn’t seem entirely due to his own practice. Some mysterious external factor might have played a role. But Xia Xi didn’t dwell on it. Progress was progress, and that was all that mattered.
“Mhm, see you tomorrow! Make sure to come again!”
Luo Xinyu smiled as she bid him farewell, finally regaining control of her body.
It was now 6 AM—meaning she had pulled an all-nighter without a wink of sleep.
Her frail body had long been pushed to its limits, but the addictive thrill of drawing, much like binge-watching videos, had kept her going.
As she glanced at her phone, her expression shifted at the sight of a certain chat log with an author.
“He knows this writer? ‘Hotarubi no Mori e’… a collaborative work… rushing to draw a manga adaptation the moment he took over my body… Hmm…”
She picked up her phone and reread the unanswered message:
“Have you ever experienced sleepwalking? Like, losing control of your body while it moves on its own?”
Xia Xi had been too engrossed in drawing to check his messages, but Luo Xinyu had heard the notification chime loud and clear.
Her slender fingers tapped the keyboard:
“How do you know Chen Xi?”
She assumed the other person would be asleep at this hour—after all, they had also pulled an all-nighter. Yet, the reply came instantly:
“Sorry, that’s personal. I can’t disclose that.”
The response was more guarded than she expected.
Odd. Their earlier questions were practically spelling it out—’Have you ever been possessed?’—yet now they’re suddenly playing the privacy card.
Still, Luo Xinyu didn’t press further.
If Chen Xi really had this body-swapping ability, he wouldn’t have limited himself to just her—a disabled girl. The only reason he visited daily was likely to learn drawing from her.
“Hey, Big Sis. What’s up?”
She dialed Luo Xingchen’s number.
After their last meeting, her younger brother hadn’t stopped investigating Chen Xi. Her explanation—that he was just a dream—hadn’t convinced him.
“Can you look into someone for me?”
“Who did you dream about this time?”
“Not a dream. An author on Yangshizi. Pen name: Yangliu Yiyi.”
An author?
Luo Xinyu usually preferred classic literature—deep, meaningful works. Why was she suddenly interested in a web novelist?
“Sure, no problem. What do you want to know?”
Whatever the reason, Luo Xingchen would fulfill her request. His sister had doted on him since childhood, and he owed her everything.
“Name, address, social connections—stuff like that. Thanks.”
“Got it.”
After hanging up, Luo Xingchen zeroed in on the key detail.
Name and address? With her condition, she wouldn’t visit in person. So the real focus must be… social connections!
Following her lead, he made a few calls, then opened Yangshizi and searched for Yangliu Yiyi.
As a college freshman, he loved novels—like Dragon Raja, which he’d just discovered. Sadly, it was only 20,000 words long.
“Let’s see… Yangliu Yiyi… Whoa, isn’t this the author of The Domineering Demon Lord Falls for Me?!”
Demon Lord was infamous in his novel discussion group—not for its quality, but for its cringe-worthy tropes. He’d never read it, but the memes were everywhere.
“Did she start a new book? Hotarubi no Mori e… Is this why Sis wants to investigate her?”
Clicking into the work, the first page was a disclaimer—and one name stood out like a sore thumb:
Chen Xi.
This author was connected to Chen Xi!
That meant… Chen Xi was a real person, not just a dream. But why had his sister lied yesterday?
Luo Xingchen’s head spun.
Whatever. As long as she’s happy, I’ll do as she asks.
Curious, he started reading…
An hour later.
“Holy crap, this is amazing! A human-spirit romance? Brilliant!”
Unlike most students, Luo Xingchen didn’t live in a dorm. He owned an apartment near campus—shared with a plump little fox.
“Xiao Li~ Xiao Li~ Hehe, turn into a girl for me!”
He scooped up the fox, chanting “Transform! Transform!”
The fox tilted its head, eyes wide with confusion—an oddly human-like expression.
Xia Xi’s Room
“What the—?! What is this?!”
Thanks to the system’s deep-sleep mode, Xia Xi woke up refreshed.
(Scene transition)
“Mmm… Bro, what’s wrong…?”
Pulling back the covers, he was met with the sight of Xia Yue—wearing a nightgown, rubbing her sleepy eyes.
(Xia Yue’s pose)
“Why are you in my bed?!”
This made no sense.
She had her own room, yet here she was—drooling on his hand, no less.
Xia Yue blinked awake, then gasped in mock surprise.
“Gege! Why are you in my bed?! Did Onii-chan finally snap and decide to attack his imouto? A midnight assault?~”
Xia Xi’s eye twitched.
“Look around! Whose room is this?!”
Only then did Xia Yue remember—she’d sneaked into his room.
Seeing his exasperation, she raised her hand, lightly bonked her own head, stuck out her tongue, and grinned.
“Teehee~”
