Wait… I’m a Druid in a Cultivation World?! - Chapter 4
Species: Burrow Golden Marrow Bees
-
Bloodline Rank: Mid-tier, First Stage
-
Innate Abilities: Master Brewer, Venomous Stinger, Windborne Speed
Master Brewer: Possesses a natural talent for honey production. Not only can it transform pollen into honey, but it can also ferment certain spiritual herbs into honey, enhancing their unique effects.
Venomous Stinger: Its stinger carries potent toxins.
Windborne Speed: As a wind- and wood-attributed spirit beast, the Burrow Golden Marrow Bee is exceptionally fast. Its speed increases further in areas rich with wind-attributed energy.
Evaluation: Skittish yet aggressive. In sufficient numbers, they can pose a threat to late-stage Qi Refinement cultivators. They fiercely reject other bees and any creatures they perceive as threats. Extremely swift, they have a strong preference for high-quality nectar sources and are passionate about honey production.
After reviewing the information on the Golden Marrow Bees in his mind, Qi Ping couldn’t help but feel even more thrilled.
These bees were spirit beasts he could never afford, even if he spent everything he had—especially tamed, breedable ones, which were even more valuable! Their temperament made them incredibly difficult to raise and breed, at least ten times harder than ordinary Black Dwarf Bees.
Even wild Golden Marrow Bee hives had a domestication success rate far below ten percent!
So, if Qi Ping could successfully form a contract with a nest of Burrow Golden Marrow Bees, it would truly be a stroke of incredible luck.
“I really hope they are Golden Marrow Bees!”
“And I hope the Beastmaster Druid’s skills are strong enough to let me bond with them as animal companions!”
Filled with eager anticipation, Qi Ping began communicating with the Black Dwarf Bees to locate the Golden Marrow Bees’ nest.
“Where are the big bees?”
“Where are the burrow-dwelling big bees?”
“Where are the golden bees?”
Since the Black Dwarf Bees weren’t highly intelligent, communication was difficult. Qi Ping had to patiently repeat his questions.
After a while, a few of them finally understood. They pointed their tiny legs toward a certain direction in the Misty Cloud Mountains.
“Buzz buzz! (There! Over there!)”
“Buzz buzz! (Dangerous!)”
“Deep in the Misty Cloud Mountains, huh?”
Just as Qi Ping was about to ask for a more precise location, something unexpected happened—two particularly bold bees actually started leading the way!
“Buzz buzz! (Follow me!)”
This was something Qi Ping hadn’t anticipated.
Normally, Black Dwarf Bees should be terrified of Golden Marrow Bees. Why would they willingly guide him?
“I guess even among bees, there are a few fearless ones?”
Just like humans—where there’s a large enough group, you’ll find all kinds of personalities. The same probably applied to bees.
But this was a good thing. Golden Marrow Bees were extremely sensitive to disturbances. At the slightest sign of danger, they would either hide or attack. Even cultivators had a hard time locating their underground nests, which was one reason they were so rare.
Following the two bold bees, Qi Ping ventured deeper into the Misty Cloud Mountains.
The trees here were much taller, tangled with thorny vines and dense thickets. Though Qi Ping was a first-stage Qi Refinement cultivator, these spirit-infused vines were far tougher and more hazardous than ordinary ones—some even carried deadly toxins.
Navigating this environment alone to track down Golden Marrow Bees would have been nearly impossible.
“Good thing I have you two leading the way!” Qi Ping said gratefully, silently resolving to reward the two bees with something nice later.
“The Forest Druid abilities really do make a difference in the wilderness…”
As he traveled deeper, Qi Ping noticed his senses growing sharper. He could detect movements from much farther away with startling clarity.
Not only that, but his physical strength and spiritual energy had also improved slightly, and his energy recovery rate had increased.
These benefits weren’t explicitly mentioned in the Druid’s skill descriptions.
“It seems skills and talents don’t cover everything about the Druid class. Some hidden traits still need to be discovered through experience.”
Like the passive buffs Forest Druids received in wooded areas.
“If I ever run into danger, I should retreat into the forest.”
“I should also consider cultivating here—or maybe planting powerful spirit trees and herbs. That might even boost my cultivation speed…”
The more he pondered, the more excited he became.
The Druid class kept surprising him. While it couldn’t compare to the innate talents and physiques of elite sect disciples, if he used it wisely, his future achievements might not be any lesser than theirs!
As he pressed onward, Qi Ping continued to observe the changes in his body. His constitution seemed slightly stronger too—leveling up as a Druid must have contributed to that.
However, after traveling about five miles in, his caution grew. At this depth, threats that could endanger his life might appear—poisonous plants, hidden venomous insects, or worse.
Though the Druid abilities gave him an edge in the forest, he wasn’t invincible. Some intelligent spirit beasts or vicious predators might not care about his Druid status.
After all, this was the world of cultivation, not a game he was familiar with. The full extent of the Druid class’s effects still needed testing.
Pushing aside a cluster of toxic vines, Qi Ping felt a growing sense of unease.
“How much further?” he pressed.
After repeating the question several times, the two bees finally buzzed vaguely:
“Buzz buzz! (Ahead… ahead! Soon… soon!)”
With no other choice, Qi Ping steeled himself and continued.
If not for the confidence granted by his Forest Druid and Beastmaster Druid classes, he would never have dared come this far alone.
Thankfully, after a while, the bees stopped.
“Buzz buzz! (Here! Here!)”
“Buzz buzz! (Danger!)”
At this point, the two bees refused to go any further, trembling slightly—a natural reaction when facing a higher-bloodline creature.
“You two head back. Be careful!” Qi Ping urged.
They had already shown remarkable bravery by guiding him this far.
The bees circled him a few times before flying back the way they came.
Qi Ping made a mental note of their appearances.
As a Beastmaster Druid, he could easily distinguish between individual bees—a trait others lacked.
Though their lifespans were short, he could still reward them with something special in their remaining time, repaying their help today.
Taking a deep breath, Qi Ping tightened his grip on the low-grade spirit weapon in his hand—a long knife given to him by Old Man Zhou.
Coming here alone was a risk.
But as both a Beastmaster and Forest Druid, the chance to contract Golden Marrow Bees was worth it.
