The System Arrived Four Years Early, but the Anomaly Is Still a Juvenile - Chapter 7
[Congratulations, Host. You’ve survived another day in a world overrun by the supernatural. Reward: 1% freely distributable attribute points, 10 system points.]
Shen Ge opened his attribute panel and noticed a new line under his stats: [Freely Distributable Attribute Points: 1%], which could be used to enhance his basic attributes.
However, the system had previously indicated that as long as his attributes were below the “average human baseline,” he could still improve them quickly through training. So, until his Strength, Agility, and Constitution reached 100%, there was no immediate need to allocate points.
“January 4th… That means the log must have updated.” Shen Ge opened the log and, sure enough, found a new entry beneath the one from January 3rd.
[January 4, 2028: Having acquired the “Silent” trait, you used its effects to avoid areas prowled by high-level supernatural entities and escaped the Eastern District. Upon returning to base, you reported yesterday’s incident with the survival squad to the organization—though you concealed the fact that you had activated the system and obtained the “Silent” trait.]
Organization?
Shen Ge stared at the log entry, lost in thought. Based on the information, it seemed that after the supernatural outbreak, he had joined some kind of organization—whether it was a civilian group or an official one remained unclear.
But from the details provided, this organization resembled the survival bases from post-apocalyptic fiction: it had a stronghold and sent teams out to scavenge for supplies.
Clearly, within just a year of the supernatural’s emergence, its rapid spread had caught nations off guard. City after city had fallen.
And Rong City was no exception.
If survival squads were already being dispatched to gather resources, the situation must be dire.
As for why he’d hidden the system and the “Silent” trait from the organization—it might not have been distrust. It could simply have been self-preservation.
“A man’s wealth is his own ruin.” If people knew he had a system capable of trading and absorbing supernatural entities, who knew what kind of trouble it might bring?
But there was no point worrying about that now. Shen Ge knew he had to use the system’s attribute-boosting functions to grow stronger as quickly as possible.
“System, use points for the lottery.”
As soon as he spoke, a spinning wheel appeared in his field of vision.
[Daily Supplies (80%)] [Weapons & Equipment (7%)] [Consumables (8%)] [Freely Distributable Attribute Points (4%)] [??? (1%)]
[PS: Increasing your rating will unlock more categories.]
[Spend 100 system points for one lottery draw?]
Shen Ge currently had 511 system points—enough for five draws at 100 points each.
Just as he was about to confirm, his finger froze mid-air. After a brief hesitation, he closed the system, took a shower, and changed clothes.
Then, he turned on his speakers and played “Good Luck Comes”—a song for auspicious occasions.
If he was going to gamble on draws, he might as well go all out with the ritual!
“Draw!”
[Spending 500 system points for five lottery draws!]
[Prizes being selected!]
[Ding!]
As the selector flickered between the five options, it finally landed on [Daily Supplies (80%)].
With an 80% probability, this outcome wasn’t surprising.
[Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a carton of instant noodles.]
A flash of white light later, a carton of instant noodles appeared on the coffee table—slightly larger than the one he’d bought from the supermarket.
Ah, the extra-large pack.
Shen Ge: “…”
While a carton of instant noodles might be invaluable after the apocalypse, right now, it was utterly meaningless.
Given his current financial situation, Shen Ge could easily afford to fill his entire apartment with instant noodles—let alone a single carton.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a 19L jug of purified water.]
Water is the source of life. And this is a big jug. Not bad.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, Host! You’ve won 1% freely distributable attribute points.]
Shen Ge let out a sigh of relief. At least it wasn’t more household supplies. Energized, he sat up straight, rubbed his hands together, and prepared for the last two draws.
[Ding!]
The selector flickered rapidly across the options. Since it was projected onto his retinas, Shen Ge’s eyes instinctively followed the movement—
Beep, beep, beep…
The selector slowed down, teetering toward [Daily Supplies (80%)]. Shen Ge’s heart leaped into his throat as he silently chanted, “One more jump, one more jump!”
Beep!
Finally, it settled on [Weapons & Equipment (7%)].
A carton of instant noodles… and a weapon!
“Yes!” Shen Ge pumped his fist in excitement as the system’s notification and a white flash appeared simultaneously.
[Congratulations, Host! You’ve won the trait weapon “Cleaver (Trait: Unbreakable).”]
Trait weapon?
Wait—so not only do high-level supernatural entities have traits, but high-tier weapons and gear can have them too?
On the coffee table lay a cleaver over a foot long. Its blade was broad and dark, exuding a cold, razor-sharp gleam.
The handle was made of hardwood, its rough surface giving off an ancient, rugged vibe. The pommel was fitted with an iron sphere, likely for balance.
“If I engraved ‘National Hero’ on this thing, it’d be next-level legendary!” Shen Ge picked up the cleaver and tested its weight. It was far heavier than a standard kitchen knife—several pounds, in fact. After a few swings, his arm already felt strained.
“Trait… Unbreakable?”
A bold idea suddenly flashed through Shen Ge’s mind.
“System, devour trait!”
He raised the cleaver and called out to the system.
[No supernatural corpse detected. Please rescan!]
“Devour trait weapon ‘Cleaver’!”
[Non-supernatural entities cannot be sold or devoured.]
“…”
The system’s cold rejection dashed Shen Ge’s hopes of becoming “indestructible.”
After a moment’s thought, he asked, “System, are weapon and equipment traits unique?”
[Trait weapons and trait equipment are both unique.]
Shen Ge looked at the cleaver in his hand. “If a weapon can have ‘Unbreakable,’ maybe someday I’ll draw body armor with a trait like ‘Impenetrable’?”
Out of five draws, he’d gotten an “Energy Apple” (which restored 100% mental energy when consumed) and a trait weapon. It seemed “Good Luck Comes” had worked its magic!
“Next time, I’ll try The God of Gamblers’ Theme Song!”
Shen Ge then opened his attribute panel. After a full day of effort, his base stats had improved significantly.

…
Wait a second.
A serious realization struck Shen Ge.
While the cleaver was an incredibly rare trait weapon—and looked undeniably cool—carrying a butcher’s cleaver in public would get him stopped before he even made it onto the subway.
“Dammit!”
I just drew a glorified paperweight!
