The Almighty Martial Arts System - Chapter 330
“We’re sorry, we’re here to apologize!”
The sight of these severely injured men struggling to bow in unison, uttering those words, was something neither Su Nan nor even Jiang Fei had ever anticipated.
“What kind of act are you putting on now?” Jiang Fei asked, somewhat amused. He had been ready to stretch his limbs and teach these guys why the flowers were so red, but this turn of events left him speechless.
Guo Jianren, Li Wei, and Bald Brother Long were all gravely injured, barely able to stand without support. Bowing was an immense struggle for them.
But earlier, their attitudes had been completely different—filled with rage and thoughts of revenge.
Especially Boss Guo Jianren, who was used to throwing his weight around in Jincheng and considered himself a big shot. He had been seething, wishing he could skin Jiang Fei alive. Right after Jiang Fei left and he was rushed to the hospital, he had immediately started calling in favors for backup.
Initially, all his contacts promised help, swearing they would help him get revenge and teach Jiang Fei a lesson.
But less than twenty minutes after hanging up, something changed. Every single one of them did a complete one-eighty, as if they were different people.
They were all uniformly horrified, cursing out the injured Guo Jianren vehemently. One even yelled, ‘You brought this on yourself, you idiot! Don’t drag me down with you! I can’t handle this mess, you’re on your own!’
Guo Jianren was no fool. He quickly sensed something was terribly wrong. Otherwise, his so-called friends wouldn’t be so panicked and ready to abandon all loyalty.
They must have received some severe warning, some terrifying information, to drop him so decisively.
This realization doused the fire of his anger like a bucket of cold water, clearing his head. He knew things were bad. Revenge against Jiang Fei was suddenly the last thing on his mind. Gritting through the pain, he called back, pleading politely for an explanation, desperate to know what had happened.
While Guo Jianren liked to show off, he was ultimately a pragmatic man who knew when to advance and when to retreat—a smart operator. It was why he had managed to deceive the usually cautious Su Nan earlier that night.
This time, he was utterly serious and humble, practically groveling, begging for details. What kind of wind had blown in those twenty minutes to cause such a drastic change?
Fortunately, Guo Jianren had built decent connections over the years. Though they were fair-weather friends, there was a shred of genuine feeling. One contact sighed and gave him the bottom line.
“Jianren, I won’t go into the details of what you did or who you offended. Just know this: this person is someone you can’t afford to mess with. Frankly, in their eyes, we’re less than stray dogs! You’ve kicked a hornet’s nest this time, created a huge disaster! Word is out. If you don’t want the police knocking on your door tomorrow with all the evidence of your past dealings dug up, then don’t bother resting in that hospital bed tonight. Your only priority right now is to find a way to fix this! That’s all I can say. What you do next is up to you.”
With that, the caller hung up.
Listening to the dial tone, Guo Jianren lay stiffly on the hospital bed, his body swathed in bandages, only his mouth, nostrils, and eyes exposed. He looked like a dead mummy.
“Ow! Be careful! Boss Guo, we have to make that bastard Jiang Fei pay! He needs to die a horrible death!” Li Wei yelled from the adjacent bed.
Bald Brother Long chimed in, “Boss Guo, how’s it looking? Let’s deal with that scoundrel tonight! I won’t be able to rest until we do! Boss Guo? Why are you so quiet all of a sudden?”
“Shut the hell up, all of you!” Guo Jianren finally exploded after a long silence, his expression darkening. But a closer look revealed more than anger in his eyes—there was sheer terror, far greater than what he had felt when Jiang Fei was beating him at the KTV.
His outburst, however, immediately aggravated the injuries on his face, making him gasp and grimace in pain.
“W-What’s wrong?” Li Wei and Bald Brother Long asked, confused by his sudden fury.
Guo Jianren thought quickly, then fixed a murderous glare on Li Wei, grinding his teeth. “You better pray I get through this safely. Otherwise, I’ll make sure your ancestors eighteen generations down rest in peace! Damn it!”
When it came down to it, while he had been the one initially taken with Su Nan, it was Li Wei who had concocted the despicable plan. Without that, he might not have crossed paths with Jiang Fei, this god of death!
So, with his rage finding no outlet, Guo Jianren naturally shifted the blame onto Li Wei. He was already scheming how to minimize his own involvement and pin everything on Li Wei.
Of course, shifting blame was only one part of the solution. Guo Jianren knew well that in their world, consequences often depended not on who was right or wrong, but on whether you could satisfy the other party!
If you pleased them, even a major mistake could be overlooked. But if you displeased them, even a minor misstep could be fatal.
“Let’s go! Everyone get up, stop playing dead! Li Wei, where does your ex-wife live? We’re going there now!” Guo Jianren barked.
We’re not playing dead; we almost died for real! Li Wei thought bitterly.
But he didn’t dare say it out loud. “I know the address. But Boss Guo, why are we going to that bitch’s house? To get revenge ourselves? In our condition, shouldn’t we just send people to handle that adulterous couple? Or have them brought to us. There’s no need to go personally.”
“Revenge, my ass!” Guo Jianren was livid. If he weren’t so badly injured, he would have leaped up and beaten this scum senseless. “As long as you’re still breathing, get your ass up! We’re going to apologize! We must beg for Jiang Fei and your ex-wife’s forgiveness. If they don’t forgive us… then you can damn well prepare for hell!” he roared.
Without further explanation, he ordered his subordinates to help him out of bed and staggered toward the hospital exit.
Li Wei and Bald Brother Long exchanged panicked looks. They didn’t know the details, but seeing the usually fearless Guo Jianren so terrified meant things were dire. They quickly had their helpers support them and painfully followed.
And so, the three of them arrived by car at Su Nan’s apartment to apologize.
The well-dressed, dignified middle-aged woman with them was the owner of the Midsummer KTV, popularly known as Sister Xu!
Since Guo Jianren’s contacts had gotten the news, it was impossible for the KTV owner to remain unaware, especially since the incident started on her turf. If blame was assigned, she wouldn’t escape responsibility.
So she quickly called Guo Jianren, caught up with them, and joined the apology party.
Seeing Jiang Fei’s reaction, Guo Jianren, Li Wei, and Bald Brother Long broke into a cold sweat, not daring to speak. It was Sister Xu who mustered her courage, looked up cautiously, and pleaded, “Mr. Jiang, they truly recognize their mistakes now. Regarding tonight’s incident, we beg for your magnanimity. Please, let them off this time…”
“And you are?” Jiang Fei glanced at her.
“I’m the owner of Midsummer KTV. I also represent all our staff in offering our deepest apologies to you and Ms. Su for what happened tonight,” Sister Xu hurriedly explained.
“So, everyone’s here,” Jiang Fei said with a light laugh.
By now, he pretty much understood. Ye Yuanyuan, that big-eyed girl, must have been incredibly efficient. She hadn’t waited until tomorrow but had already taken action, which was why these people, injuries and all, had rushed over in the middle of the night to apologize.
However, Jiang Fei had no intention of letting them off so easily. He smirked coldly. “And you call this an apology?”
Their hearts sank.
Clearly, this wasn’t someone who would be easily appeased. But then again, considering what they had done, it was unrealistic to expect forgiveness to come cheap.
“I… I will provide financial compensation to you and Ms. Su…” Guo Jianren ventured nervously, mentally preparing to pay a hefty price, even if it meant bankruptcy.
Losing money was better than losing his life.
“Are you trying to insult me with money now?” Jiang Fei retorted, feigning anger.
Was he someone who lacked money? Well… in the past, maybe. Back then, monetary compensation might have worked. But now? He was far from needing it!
Guo Jianren broke into a colder sweat, his mind racing. His eyes then fell on Li Wei. “Get on your knees! Apologize to Mr. Jiang and Ms. Su!” he ordered harshly.
Li Wei felt like crying, on the verge of wetting himself. A coward at heart, he was filled with humiliation, but he had to obey Guo Jianren. Bearing the pain, he knelt down.
“I’m sorry! I was wrong! Please, forgive a scumbag like me…” Li Wei begged, tears and snot streaming down his face.
Watching this, neither Jiang Fei nor even Su Nan felt much pity.
Remembering this man’s actions earlier—if Jiang Fei hadn’t arrived in time, what would have become of her?
Jiang Fei shook his head dismissively, his gaze shifting from the pathetic figure on the floor to Guo Jianren and Bald Brother Long. A playful glint in his eyes, he asked, “And what about you two?”
