Super Doctor - Chapter 97
“If ghosts and gods truly exist in this world, I am willing to become a vengeful spirit from this moment on, haunting those beasts day and night, never ceasing, never resting…”
Tao Xiao, suspended in mid-air, let out a heart-wrenching cry of grief and rage before gently stepping off the edge…
The firefighters shouted in alarm, adjusting the rescue cushion beneath her, desperately trying to predict her landing point. But the pale figure drifted lightly past them, landing three meters away with a dull thud. A vivid red flower of blood blossomed instantly on the ground.
For a moment, there was silence. Then, as the crowd took in the sight of the motionless white figure now stained crimson, the girls who had been trying to comfort Tao Xiao earlier broke into hysterical sobs. Two of them even collapsed on the spot, overwhelmed by grief.
Two doctors and a nurse rushed forward, kneeling beside the fallen girl. They checked for a pulse, examined her pupils, and inspected her limbs and torso. After a long moment, they stood up and slowly shook their heads.
Xu Ze stood at the front of the crowd, staring blankly at the bloodied figure. His eyes were filled with sorrow—he had helped Tao Xiao once before, but in the end, he couldn’t prevent this tragedy from repeating itself.
When he saw the doctors shake their heads, Xu Ze snapped out of his daze. He knew he couldn’t let Tao Xiao go like this. He had to do something.
Pushing past the student council members maintaining order, he strode forward under the stunned gazes of countless students and teachers, then knelt beside Tao Xiao.
The doctors and nurse assumed Xu Ze was a close friend of the girl and didn’t stop him.
Looking at her pale face, her slightly closed eyes, and the blood still trickling from the corner of her lips, Xu Ze’s eyes darkened with sorrow. He pulled out a tissue and gently wiped away the blood from her lips and cheeks, then began scanning her body from head to toe.
His glasses flickered with a faint, peculiar light.
Cervical spine laceration, multiple bilateral rib fractures, massive bilateral hemopneumothorax, comminuted lumbar fracture, comminuted pelvic fracture, bilateral femoral fractures, comminuted tibiofibular fractures… Possible severe cardiac and abdominal organ contusions…
Xiao Dao, his AI assistant, didn’t make Xu Ze waste time analyzing the X-ray scan results. Instead, it processed the data instantly and relayed the findings directly. But it withheld the final conclusion—Xu Ze already knew.
Xu Ze bit his lip, his face paling slightly, but he said nothing. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a case of silver needles—something he had been carrying with him lately.
The nearby doctors stared in shock as Xu Ze produced the needles, utterly baffled by what he intended to do.
Only some medical students in the crowd caught the glint of silver in Xu Ze’s hand. A murmur spread through them, and they surged forward, only to be held back by the student council and faculty.
But a few of Tao Xiao’s closest friends ignored the barriers. They clawed past the student council members, their cries of grief tearing through the air as they rushed forward.
Xu Ze emptied the case into his palm—eight needles in total, varying in length.
Under the stunned gazes of the doctors and the hopeful eyes of Tao Xiao’s friends, he swiftly inserted the needles through her clothing, targeting precise points on her body: Tianfu, Juque, Zhongfu… and finally Renzhong, Yintang, Baihui.
Once the needles were in place, Xu Ze flicked each one with his right index finger. The silver needles trembled as they collided with his ring, emitting soft, clear dings before vibrating rapidly.
In the virtual space, Xiao Dao watched as its carefully stored energy reserves—painstakingly accumulated over days—dropped from 66% to just above 50% with each flick of Xu Ze’s fingers. It winced internally but remained silent.
Seeing the eight needles vibrating intensely under the surge of bioelectric energy, Xu Ze gave a slight nod. Then he slid his right hand beneath Tao Xiao’s neck.
Through the X-ray function of his glasses, he positioned the ring on his finger against her cervical spine and issued a silent command.
Xiao Dao sighed at the dwindling energy reserves but complied. A hair-thin needle extended from the ring, piercing into the spinal canal. A powerful surge of bioelectric energy rushed into the dense neural network, instantly reaching the brain.
Tao Xiao, whose head rested limply in Xu Ze’s hand, suddenly let out a faint moan. Then, to the shock of everyone watching, her eyelids fluttered open.
The doctors and nurse froze in disbelief. The nurse, holding an oxygen bag and first-aid kit, dropped them in shock.
All three stared, dumbfounded, at the girl who had just been declared dead—now awake.
But Xu Ze paid them no mind. He simply smiled gently at Tao Xiao, whose gaze was struggling to focus.
“Tao Xiao… why were you so foolish?”
“Xu… Xu Ze… is it really you…?” Her voice was weak, but recognition flickered in her eyes as she remembered the boy who had once saved her.
“It’s me,” Xu Ze replied softly.
A faint smile touched Tao Xiao’s pale lips, her cheeks flushing unnaturally. She coughed weakly, blood speckling her lips.
“I… never thought… I’d see you again…”
“Of course you can see me. You’ll keep seeing me for a long time,” Xu Ze said, his voice steady despite the blood staining her lips.
Tao Xiao lifted a trembling hand, brushing Xu Ze’s cheek. “Am I dreaming? They say… when you die… you see illusions…”
“No. You’re not going to die. You won’t die,” Xu Ze assured her, his eyes clear and unwavering.
She touched his face again, as if confirming his reality, then smiled faintly. “Xu Ze… don’t lie to me. I already saw my grandmother… She told me to come to her… that in her arms… no one could hurt me anymore…”
“No one… can hurt me…” Her voice grew weaker, her gaze beginning to unfocus.
Xu Ze’s heart clenched. “Tao Xiao… Tao Xiao… stay awake. Your friends are here. Talk to them.”
At his urging, her pupils contracted slightly, her scattered gaze drifting toward the girls beside her.
“Tong… Yan Yan… Xiao Wei…” she murmured.
“Xiao Xiao… it’s us!” The three girls burst into tears again, their voices choked with grief.
“Don’t cry… You have to study hard… find good boyfriends… be happy…” She coughed violently, fresh blood bubbling at her lips.
The girls sobbed harder. “Xiao Xiao, stop talking… just rest…”
Tao Xiao shook her head faintly, then turned back to Xu Ze. With great effort, she whispered, “Xu Ze… take something out of my bag for me.”
“Okay… okay.” Xu Ze quickly found the small bag still strapped to her side. With the girls’ help, he retrieved a large envelope and placed it in her hands.
She looked at it, relief softening her features, then weakly raised it toward Xu Ze.
“Please… give this to my… parents…”
“I will. I’ll deliver it to them myself,” Xu Ze promised solemnly, taking the envelope.
With that, Tao Xiao seemed to relax, as if a weight had been lifted.
Xu Ze glanced at the needles in her head—their vibrations were slowing. He sighed inwardly. This is as far as I can go.
Tao Xiao’s fading eyes met his, and she smiled faintly.
“Xu Ze… do you think… there’s justice in this world?”
Xu Ze looked into her dimming gaze and nodded firmly. “Yes.”
She coughed, thick blood now flowing freely from her lips, yet her smile remained. “But… I don’t believe it…”
Watching the life drain from her face, Xu Ze’s eyes darkened with grief. Then, with absolute conviction, he said, “Believe me. If I say there is, then there is.”
“Really…? Then… I’ll believe you…” Her smile brightened like spring sunlight before her eyes slowly closed.
The needles stopped vibrating.
Xu Ze’s voice was low but unshakable. “I say there is justice in this world. So there will be.”
As Tao Xiao’s breath stilled, her face peaceful at last, Xu Ze whispered, his voice thick with resolve:
“Even if this world has none… I will bring you justice.”
