Returning after 10000 Years Cultivation - Chapter 82
“Deputy Director Jiang, do you really think you can do whatever you want in Linzhou?” Jiang Tian’s smile faded as he asked coldly.
“So what if I can? When it comes to drug regulations, I am the law!” Sensing Jiang Tian’s hostility, Jiang Jun slammed the table and roared, “This formula of yours is trash! And the person who invented it? Also trash!”
He pointed arrogantly at Jiang Tian and sneered, “Don’t think just because you know Zhou Zhenghao and his thugs, you can ignore the rules! None of that matters here!”
“This discussion is over. Get out! If you want to talk, tell Wei Fang or Zhao Hucheng to come see me themselves!” Jiang Jun waved dismissively, his tone dripping with contempt.
In his eyes, Jiang Tian was nothing but a lowly PR flunky—unworthy of even speaking to him as an equal.
“Jiang Tian! How dare you talk to my uncle like that? Apologize now and drink a bottle of baijiu as punishment!” Jiang Qiushui barked, treating Jiang Tian like some pushover.
He deliberately humiliated Jiang Tian in front of Zhao Qianru, wanting her to see how pathetic he really was.
Jiang Tian chuckled. “Oh, so just because your uncle’s a petty official, you think you’re untouchable? You have no idea who you’re dealing with. If I wanted, I could have that little hat of his ripped off in seconds.”
“You—! You arrogant little—!” Jiang Jun’s face twisted in rage. “A nobody like you, daring to act so insolent in front of me? Unbelievable!”
Gritting his teeth, he snarled, “Seems I’ll have to teach you a lesson! By tomorrow, Zhao Pharmaceuticals will be shut down. I’ll bury you in inspections—no one can save you!”
Jiang Qiushui smirked triumphantly. “See what happens when you cross me?”
Jiang Tian swirled his wine glass, eyes downcast, letting out a bitter laugh—as if he had no choice but to surrender, as if Zhao Qianru would have to marry Jiang Qiushui after all.
Just as Jiang Qiushui was gloating, the door burst open.
A tall figure strode in and asked sternly, “Xiao Jiang, what’s the issue with this formula?”
The moment Jiang Jun saw who it was, he shot to his feet, legs trembling. “T-Tang… Tang…!” He was so terrified he couldn’t even finish saying “Secretary.”
“Who the hell are you? Learn to knock!” Jiang Qiushui snapped, spinning around.
SLAP!
Jiang Jun backhanded him across the face. “Are you insane?! That’s Secretary Tang!”
“Secretary Tang… The Secretary Tang?!” Jiang Qiushui’s face drained of color.
Ignoring them, Tang Weimin approached Jiang Tian with utmost respect. “Grandmaster Jiang, I heard you were dining here and took the liberty of joining. I hope you don’t mind. May I offer you a toast?”
Jiang Jun and Jiang Qiushui gaped in disbelief.
This guy’s just a PR lackey… Why is the city’s top official treating him like royalty?
“You’re too kind, Secretary Tang.” Jiang Tian took a sip, while Tang Weimin downed his glass in one go.
“By the way, Grandmaster Jiang, is there an issue with your new drug?” Tang Weimin asked humbly.
“Secretary Tang, this is all just a misunderstanding!” Jiang Jun’s back was drenched in cold sweat as he pleaded, “Mr. Jiang, I was out of line earlier. Please spare me! I’ll fast-track the approval—tonight!”
Jiang Tian glanced at him. “Oh, I don’t know if the formula has issues. But Deputy Director Jiang said if my sister-in-law doesn’t marry his nephew, Zhao Pharmaceuticals will be closed.”
Tang Weimin’s face darkened. “Jiang Jun! Is this how you conduct yourself? Extorting businesses, flouting the law—have you no shame?!”
“Secretary Tang, I didn’t know Mr. Jiang knew you! I was wrong!” Jiang Jun collapsed, sweating bullets.
“Ridiculous! Even if Grandmaster Jiang weren’t my honored guest, you think this behavior is acceptable?” Tang Weimin’s voice was icy. “The disciplinary committee will deal with you.”
Jiang Jun wailed, “Please, have mercy!”
He knew he was finished. With all the bribes he’d taken and his secret mistress, a prison sentence was inevitable.
“Grandmaster Jiang, I’ve prepared a banquet elsewhere. Shall we?” Tang Weimin said, almost fawning.
“Very well.” Jiang Tian stood, casting one last mocking glance at Jiang Qiushui before leaving.
The silent humiliation made Jiang Qiushui’s face burn. Now, his earlier bravado seemed like a pathetic joke.
After they left, the room fell dead silent.
Jiang Jun muttered, “How does he know Secretary Tang? And why is Tang treating him like that?” He shuddered. “We’re ruined…”
Jiang Qiushui stammered, “But he’s just a PR guy…”
Enraged, Jiang Jun grabbed a liquor bottle and smashed it over his nephew’s head.
CRACK!
“AHH! Uncle, why?!” Jiang Qiushui howled, blood streaming down his face.
“You idiot! You dragged me into this!” Jiang Jun kicked him repeatedly. “You didn’t even know who he was, yet you picked a fight?!”
“Stop! Please!” Jiang Qiushui vomited as he rolled on the floor.
But Jiang Jun kept kicking. “He’s no PR lackey if Secretary Tang respects him! You useless fool!”
…
At Junzilan Fashion Company, Fu Lanjun sat behind her desk, reviewing financial reports.
Her secretary rushed in. “Boss, big news! Tang Linglong is holding a grand ceremony to formally acknowledge her martial arts master!”
Fu Lanjun’s eyes widened. “What? Who’s the master?”
“Some martial arts grandmaster. The Tang family is inviting all the elites in Linzhou!”
Fu Lanjun frowned. “This isn’t like the Tangs… They’re always so low-key.”
Maybe Jianfeng returned because of this ceremony…
She sighed. At least I’ll get to see this ‘Grandmaster Jiang’ who has the Tangs bowing to him.
News of the ceremony spread like wildfire. The Tangs’ uncharacteristic extravagance sent shockwaves through Linzhou’s elite.
At the Starlight Bar, Liu Tianle chatted with his rich friends.
“Liu, heard about the ceremony?” one asked.
Liu Tianle smirked. “Yeah. My dad got an invite. We’re meeting this ‘Grandmaster Jiang.’”
“Is he really that impressive?”
Liu Tianle’s eyes gleamed. “He controls lightning, commands spirits, and can punch down helicopters mid-air.”
The crowd gasped.
“No way!”
Liu Tianle laughed. “Believe it. This guy’s legends.”
