Reborn in the 80s: My Whole Family Secretly Hears My Thoughts and Goes Wild with Success! - Chapter 25
Yue Mingyuan followed Qin Liping to the side, where Qin Liping handed him a file folder. “Inside are some documents I asked a friend to compile. Take them back and have Zhiqiu pass them to her cousin. She’ll probably find them useful.”
“Thank you, Brother-in-law.”
Qin Liping patted Yue Mingyuan’s shoulder. “We’re family. No need for formalities.”
“Uncle, aren’t you going back to the hospital?”
Qin Feng, who had been watching cartoons, noticed Yue Mingyuan preparing to leave after his conversation with Qin Liping. The little boy scrambled over the sofa on his short legs and chased after him. “Uncle, I want to go too! I want to see Yaya!”
“Look, I bought so many snacks and toys for her!”
Qin Feng proudly showed off his backpack, which was stuffed full.
Qin Liping rubbed his temples in exasperation. “No wonder your bag was so heavy.”
“Xiao Feng, Yaya can’t eat or play with these things. She’s still too young.”
Kneeling in front of Qin Feng, Qin Liping set the backpack aside and patiently explained, “These snacks aren’t good for kids’ health. You shouldn’t eat too much either.”
“Listen, Xiao Feng—you must never sneak food to Yaya when adults aren’t around, understand?”
He gripped Qin Feng’s hands, his expression stern. Then, he pulled out two snacks and held them up one by one.
“This candy could choke Yaya. It could even be life-threatening.”
“And this one? Yaya doesn’t have teeth yet. She can’t chew it.”
“Right now, Yaya can only drink milk. All babies go through this stage—you did too when you were little.”
A softness crept into Qin Liping’s eyes as he remembered Qin Feng at Yaya’s age.
“Dad, can I feed Yaya milk then? Like how Uncle holds the bottle?”
Qin Feng thumped his small chest. “I’m her big brother. I should take care of her.”
“Well…”
Qin Liping glanced at Yue Mingyuan, who nodded in approval before he replied, “You can, but not yet. We’ll have to wait until Yaya’s a little older.”
“Okay…”
Qin Feng’s shoulders slumped as he eyed his backpack and sighed dramatically. “Ugh—I bought all this for nothing.”
“Not for nothing. You can eat it yourself, share it with friends, or save it for the weekend when Youxin and Youhui come over.”
Qin Feng immediately shook his head, his face scrunched in refusal. “No way! I’m not sharing with Youxin and Youhui!”
“Last time I gave them my snacks, Aunt Li Yan said they failed their exams because my food made them stupid.”
Even the mild-mannered Qin Liping was at a loss for words about Li Yan. All he could muster was a diplomatic, “Your aunt is just… very strict with them.”
Yue Mingyuan, on the other hand, couldn’t even be bothered to comment. He picked up Qin Feng and said to Qin Liping, “Brother-in-law, I’ll take Xiao Feng with me. You can pick him up from the hospital later.”
“Sure.”
When they arrived at the Ling residence, Ling Hang was already waiting outside with a young boy.
The boy was strikingly handsome, his features as delicate as a porcelain doll’s—but what stood out most were his rare, violet-blue eyes.
“Wow, are you foreign?”
As soon as Ling Hang and the boy got into the car, Qin Feng tilted his head, his chubby face full of curiosity.
The boy nodded politely. “Yes.”
Then, he greeted Yue Mingyuan properly. “Hello, Uncle Yue.”
“Hello, Jiusi.”
Ling Hang explained, “Uncle Huo asked me to take Jiusi to the airport tomorrow. I’m bringing him to say goodbye first.”
“I’ll drop you off then. I was planning to visit Uncle Huo anyway.”
Huo Yingnian, Yue Guohuai, and Ling Hang’s father, Ling Chao, had been close friends for years—though Huo Yingnian had eventually chosen a different path from the other two.
Huo Jiusi was Huo Yingnian’s grandson. A mixed-race child, his mother—Huo Yingnian’s only daughter, Huo Jun—had died in a plane crash a year earlier.
Devastated by the loss, Huo Yingnian had been inconsolable, so Jiusi’s father sent the boy to live with him.
Ten days ago, however, Jiusi’s father called, demanding his return. The argument had been so heated that Huo Yingnian collapsed from a mild stroke.
“It’s just a minor blockage. Some IV treatment, and he’ll be fine.”
Huo Yingnian gazed at Jiusi with reluctant fondness. “Jiusi, be careful on your trip. Call me as soon as you arrive.”
“I will, Grandpa.” Jiusi squeezed his hand. “I’ll wrap things up and come back as soon as I can.”
“Good.” Huo Yingnian turned away with a heavy sigh.
If it were that simple, he wouldn’t have fought with that bastard in the first place.
He just feared that once Jiusi left this time, it might be years before he saw him again.
“Xiao Yuan, congratulations on your daughter.” Huo Yingnian shifted the mood, smiling at Yue Mingyuan. “Your father must be over the moon.”
“Yeah. Thrilled.” Yue Mingyuan chuckled.
“Just watch—old man Yue’s gonna brag to the rest of us nonstop now.” Huo Yingnian knew Yue Guohuai well.
Then, he turned to Ling Hang and tapped his shoulder. “Xiao Hang, take this as a friendly warning—you’d better hurry up.”
“Uncle Huo, hurry up with what?” Ling Hang blinked, utterly clueless.
Huo Yingnian shook his head, the picture of despair.
Ling Hang was plenty sharp—except when it came to matters of the heart. Heaven only knew what kind of girl could ever tame this little troublemaker.
As they left the ward, Ling Hang kept pestering Yue Mingyuan. “Mingyuan, what did Uncle Huo mean? What am I supposed to hurry up with?”
“Training harder.” Yue Mingyuan patted his shoulder.
Ling Hang frowned. “Why the rush? Is there some big mission coming up?”
Huo Jiusi side-eyed him and subtly inched away.
His grandfather always said: Stay away from fools. Their stupidity is contagious.
“Whoa—Mingyuan, isn’t that Chen Can’s car?”
As they entered the hospital grounds, a military vehicle stood out in the parking lot. Ling Hang recognized the plates instantly.
The temperature around Yue Mingyuan dropped several degrees. Ling Hang wisely shut up and quickened his pace to keep up.
Sure enough, Chen Can was there—standing beside Shen Zhiqiu’s bed, saying something that had left her visibly upset.
Without hesitation, Yue Mingyuan stormed forward and punched Chen Can square in the face.
“Yue Mingyuan, have you lost your mind?!”
Chen Can wiped blood from his lip, glaring furiously.
“I warned you—stay away from Zhiqiu!” Yue Mingyuan dragged him out of the room and snarled, “Next time I see you near her, I’ll beat you senseless!”
“You’ve got no right to interfere!” Chen Can shot back. “Don’t think I don’t know—you’ve had ulterior motives toward Shen Zhiqiu all along!”
