Reborn in the 80s: My Whole Family Secretly Hears My Thoughts and Goes Wild with Success! - Chapter 141
Wang Fengqin was unaware that her every move and every word were being closely watched.
Among the people here was a classmate of Yue Mingli, who had specifically instructed that Wang Fengqin and Shen Liya receive “special attention.”
Wang Fengqin’s desire to harm Yaya was absolutely intolerable to the Yue family. Moreover, she had repeatedly tried to cause trouble, never ceasing her schemes even after being detained.
Even if Yaya weren’t the little lifesaver for both him and his wife, but merely a child of the Yue family, Wang Fengqin had still crossed a line they would not ignore.
The Yue family never took the initiative to harm others, but if someone intended to harm them, they would not show any mercy.
No sooner had Wang Fengqin and Shen Liya been locked in solitary confinement for fighting, than Yue Mingli learned what they had said.
“Wishful thinking! Does she think the evidence is just for show, or the law is a joke? Does she really believe she can just take the fall herself?”
After returning home, Yue Mingli quietly informed Yue Guohuai and Wan Jiayin about the matter. The elderly couple was equally furious.
“Kill Yaya?! How capable of her.”
Yue Guohuai narrowed his fierce, tiger-like eyes. The aura of杀气 from years of battle on the front lines was so intense that even Yue Mingli dared not meet his gaze.
Wan Jiayin also lost her usual gentle and kind demeanor, her face turning cold and stern. “That Wang Fengqin truly deserves to die.”
“Dad, Mom, they’re going to be severely punished soon. Shen Daqiang, Wang Fengqin, and Shen Liya are just in time.”
“I consulted a judge I know. Shen Daqiang and Wang Fengqin are definitely facing the death penalty. Shen Liya will likely get about five years.”
Yue Mingli then voiced his concern: “The only variable is Chen Can.”
“That is indeed a possibility. After all, Chen Can and Shen Liya are husband and wife. Never mind that he seems quite close to the Xu family’s granddaughter lately; you can never be sure about these things.”
Wan Jiayin stated, “If he only intervenes in Shen Liya’s case to reduce her sentence, fine. But if he tries to get Shen Liya released, our Yue family will not allow it.”
Yue Mingli analyzed, “Since Chen Can is getting close to the Xu family’s granddaughter, it means he’s planning to abandon Shen Liya. If he helps her, it definitely isn’t out of marital affection. It’s more likely that Shen Liya has some kind of leverage over him.”
“If that’s the case, maybe we should find Chen Can’s weaknesses first, so Shen Liya can’t threaten him.”
Yue Guohuai waved his hand. “Unnecessary.”
“It seems to me that Shen Liya is far less capable than her mother. She won’t make much of a wave.”
“Mingli, have someone pay her a little more ‘attention.’ She’s already started to feel afraid, but it’s not enough. She must be made to never dare entertain the slightest thought of harming anyone again.”
“Understood, Dad.”
Wang Fengqin and Shen Liya were made examples. After being locked in solitary confinement for five days, their situation upon release became even worse than before.
If they still had the energy to think about harming others, it meant their workload wasn’t heavy enough.
Being worked to exhaustion, leaving no opportunity for idle, malicious thoughts, was the best education for them.
Time flew by. In what felt like a blink, over ten days passed, and it was now late June.
The weather was getting hotter, but fortunately, it still cooled down a little every evening.
Ye Zhiqiu sat on a stone stool, crocheting little rabbit shoes for Yaya. Huo Jiusi pushed Yaya around the yard, running back and forth as they played.
“Yaya, Auntie is here to see you!”
Ye Zhiqiu looked up at Lu Shuangshuang entering the yard. “How come you’re here again?”
“I’m not here to see you; I’m here to see Yaya.” Lu Shuangshuang held her hands behind her back, seeming somewhat uncomfortable.
She didn’t even know how she ended up here.
Even though she and Kang Zhixin were no longer in the same dorm, Kang kept picking fights with her. Not wanting to waste time or upset herself further, Lu Shuangshuang had decided to apply to move back home for a while.
Her relationship with her aunt was getting better and better, and Lu Shuangshuang wanted to move in permanently, but her father forbade it, scolding her severely about it.
So, feeling upset but not wanting her aunt to worry, she had gone out for a walk and somehow found herself at the Yue family’s door.
“Ye Zhiqiu, I never knew you had this skill?” Lu Shuangshuang sat down on the stone stool beside Ye Zhiqiu, watching her flying fingers with interest.
She picked up one of the finished little rabbit shoes. “You made this?”
“No, someone gave these to Yaya. I noticed Yaya liked them, so I thought I’d crochet her a slightly larger pair to wear after the weather gets cold in autumn.”
“They’re so cute.” Lu Shuangshuang held the shoe up to her own foot. “So tiny.”
“Would you like me to crochet a pair in your size?” Ye Zhiqiu asked, smiling at Lu Shuangshuang.
Lu Shuangshuang’s face flushed, and she quickly put the shoe down. “No! I’m way too old for that.”
“Well, I’ve been learning to crochet wallets lately. How about I make you a wallet instead? But I warn you, I’m not sure when I’ll finish it.”
“Fine. Just give it to me whenever it’s done.”
After a moment, Lu Shuangshuang asked Ye Zhiqiu quietly, “Want to go to the night market?”
Teasing her, Ye Zhiqiu said, “What, planning to buy me another bag? Is this an apology or a thank you this time?”
“Neither! I just feel like giving you one, alright?” Lu Shuangshuang’s eyes lit up. “Is that a yes?”
“I was actually planning to go anyway.” Ye Zhiqiu stood up. “Wait for me a moment. I’ll go upstairs and change.”
They rode their bikes to the night market, locked them up nearby, and Lu Shuangshuang pulled Ye Zhiqiu forward. “There seem to be even more stalls than last time. Come on, let’s see if there’s anything new!”
The “new” stuff usually came from the south.
Goods from the south were generally of better quality and more fashionable than those from the north.
“Come on, I’ll treat you to shaved ice.”
About halfway through their stroll, they saw a shaved ice stall. Ye Zhiqiu pulled Lu Shuangshuang over to sit down. She bought a bowl of shaved ice for Lu Shuangshuang and a bottle of soda for herself.
“Why aren’t you having any?”
“I haven’t fully recovered my health yet. I can’t eat cold things.”
The elders had repeatedly warned her, and she didn’t want to worry them. Besides, her health was her own responsibility; she needed to take good care of it, as she’d be the one suffering if she got sick.
“Feeling any better?” Ye Zhiqiu asked.
Lu Shuangshuang looked surprised. “How did you know I was upset?”
Ye Zhiqiu pointed at Lu Shuangshuang’s face. “You can’t hide your feelings. Everything is written all over your face.”
“Since you noticed, I won’t hide it. My situation is kinda similar to yours now.” Lu Shuangshuang stabbed at the shaved ice in her bowl. “A stepmother who schemes, a father who’s useless, and a beastly younger brother.”
“I used to think my family was quite happy. Who knew it was all a big joke.”
“So what if it’s a joke? A real joke is better than fake happiness.”
Lu Shuangshuang paused for a second. “Ye Zhiqiu, that’s a unique way to comfort someone.”
But she had to admit, those words made her feel much better almost instantly.
“So, aren’t you going to buy me a bag?” Ye Zhiqiu blinked at Lu Shuangshuang.
“Fine! Let’s go pick one out.”
“I was just joking with you. Couldn’t you tell?”
“You might have been joking, but I’m serious.”
