My Amazing WeChat is Connected to the Three Realms - Chapter 97
Hu Lai’s figure moved like a ghost, weaving between the police officers.
Wherever he passed, officers collapsed to the ground, unconscious and their condition unknown.
Damn, this is terrifying!
Lin Hai could see that Hu Lai’s movement technique definitely originated from the same school as the Black Shadow and the Masked Man, but it was several times faster than theirs.
Lin Hai was certain that if Hu Lai targeted him next, he would have absolutely no way to dodge.
Dammit, I really shouldn’t have followed Chu Lin’er down here to watch the excitement.
At this moment, the only one who remained relatively calm was Peng Tao.
Peng Tao gripped his gun with both hands, holding it steady at chest level. Even though his eyes couldn’t see anything, he remained alert, sensing everything around him.
“He’s coming!” Peng Tao’s eyebrows suddenly shot up. He aimed his gun at a specific angle and pulled the trigger.
At the same instant, Hu Lai’s face, twisted into a sinister grin, appeared right in front of Peng Tao.
“Hmph.” Peng Tao snorted coldly, a hint of smugness in his heart.
Despite the eerie wind blinding him beyond a meter, his intuition alone had perfectly locked onto Hu Lai. At such close range, a single shot meant Hu Lai had little chance of survival.
But the next moment, Peng Tao’s eyes widened in shock.
He saw Hu Lai contort his body at an seemingly impossible angle, and the bullet actually whizzed right past him!
“How… how is this possible!” What had just happened completely defied Peng Tao’s understanding.
“Chief Peng, resorting to a fatal shot against an old friend? Well, don’t blame me for what happens next!” Hu Lai’s figure suddenly materialized to Peng Tao’s left, his hand shooting straight towards Peng Tao’s heart.
Panic-stricken, Peng Tao stood frozen on the spot.
“Get out of the way!” Lin Hai, coming from behind, launched a flying kick that sent Peng Tao tumbling head over heels a good distance away.
After scrambling back to his feet, Peng Tao was overwhelmed with a wave of fear.
He looked up to see Lin Hai already engaged in a fierce fight with Hu Lai.
However, the situation looked extremely grim.
Hu Lai relentlessly pummeled Lin Hai with punch after punch, leaving Lin Hai with no chance to fight back whatsoever.
“You’re the one, kid,” Hu Lai snarled, “the one who kicked my son’s ribs broken and snapped his fingers, forcing me to expend my vital energy to heal him. Today, I won’t kill you. I’ll cripple you and hand you over to my son so he can take his revenge himself.”
Lin Hai spat out a mouthful of blood and grinned. “Your son? Hah! Did you not know? I just finished him off. What a pity. If you want to see your son again, you’ll have to meet him in the underworld.”
“What!” Hu Lai was stunned, then fury consumed him. “Damn you! How dare you kill my son! I’ll slice you into a thousand pieces!”
The news of Hu Wei’s death sent Hu Lai into a frenzy of grief and rage.
Seeing Hu Lai charging at him with murderous intent radiating from his entire being, Lin Hai knew that if he tried to tough it out any longer, his life would be unquestionably over.
He glanced over at Chu Lin’er, who was squatting nearby, completely absorbed in a game of Gomoku on her phone. A surge of anger shot through him.
Swish! He snatched the phone right out of Chu Lin’er’s hands and stuffed it into his own pocket.
Startled by the sudden loss of her phone, Chu Lin’er glared furiously at Lin Hai. “Hey! What do you think you’re doing?!”
“Damn it, you silly girl! You were the one who insisted on coming down here to watch the show. I followed you down, and now I’m about to lose my life, and you have the nerve to sit there playing games? Do you believe me if I delete this game right now?”
“Who are you calling a silly girl? I never asked you to follow me down, you came on your own!” While bantering with Lin Hai, Chu Lin’er finally made her move.
With a simple flick of her sleeve, Hu Lai’s powerful attack was met with an invisible force, sending him tumbling backwards through the air.
“A Ghost Immortal!” Hu Lai’s pupils constricted sharply. He could actually see Chu Lin’er.
“If you had mastered this Blood Transformation Demon Art, I might still be somewhat wary. But as you are now…” Chu Lin’er shook her head dismissively.
Hu Lai stood his ground, his eyes darting around rapidly.
He knew that with a Ghost Immortal level expert on the other side, achieving his goal had just become immensely difficult.
In that case, it was better to retreat for now. Another day, after gathering the necessary human organs and achieving success in his cultivation, he would return to deal with Lin Hai and avenge his son.
Having decided this, Hu Lai sent a mental message to Chu Lin’er: “Since a senior Ghost Immortal is present, I will give you face today. I have other matters to attend to, so I shall take my leave.”
With that, Hu Lai prepared to make his exit.
“Who said you could leave!” Chu Lin’er shouted sharply and delivered a swift kick towards Hu Lai.
Bang!
Hu Lai was sent flying across the room, slamming hard into the wall.
Peng Tao, watching from the side, was utterly baffled.
What’s going on? Why is Hu Lai throwing himself around like that?
Suddenly, a thought seemed to strike him. He quickly turned to look at Lin Hai.
He saw Lin Hai sitting on the ground, his eyes fixed intently on Hu Lai.
“It must be him,” Peng Tao thought, convinced. “It must be Lin Hai making his move! It’s just that his methods are beyond ordinary comprehension.” Peng Tao’s awe and wariness of Lin Hai deepened significantly.
Chu Lin’er, still fuming from having her phone snatched and being threatened with deletion of her game, proceeded to vent all her anger on Hu Lai.
“It’s all your fault! Your fault! Your fault…!”
Hu Lai was on the verge of a breakdown. His body was flung up and slammed down repeatedly, his face covered in dust, a picture of utter misery and humiliation.
Watching from the sidelines, Lin Hai felt a surge of smug satisfaction.
“Damn, see how arrogant you are now? Let’s see how you like being beaten to a pulp!” Lin Hai muttered under his breath.
Unfortunately for him, Peng Tao overheard this.
Peng Tao shot a horrified glance at Lin Hai, then looked back at Hu Lai, who seemed to be having a one-man freak-out session. He couldn’t help but think, “So it is him doing this. This Lin Hai is truly terrifying!”
Over on his side, Hu Lai seemed to have finally been pushed to his limit.
“Senior Ghost Immortal, when will you stop this? If this continues, don’t blame me for turning hostile!”
“Turn hostile? Let’s see you try!” Chu Lin’er strode over and immediately slapped him twice across the face.
“Ahhh!!! You’re asking for it!” Hu Lai had apparently had enough.
He suddenly pulled out a black pill and shoved it into his mouth.
“The Berserker Pill!” Lin Hai exclaimed in shock.
He had witnessed Hu Wei take one before, and the effects were formidable.
“Berserker Pill? What’s that?” Peng Tao, standing nearby, looked utterly confused.
But when he turned his head back, the hairs on his body stood on end.
Hu Lai seemed to have grown an entire size larger. His clothes had burst open, revealing bulging muscles. His long hair, now a blood-red color, flew wildly around him, making him resemble a demon from the depths of hell.
“Is… is he even human anymore?” Peng Tao gulped hard.
“So it’s actually a Berserker Pill?” Chu Lin’er was also visibly taken aback, her expression turning serious.
“Hehehe… So you’re only at the early stage of Ghost Immortal. If you were at the mid-stage, perhaps I couldn’t do anything to you. But at the early stage… prepare to die!”
With that, Hu Lai, claws bared and teeth gnashing, charged straight at Chu Lin’er.
Chu Lin’er frowned. She raised her hands and met his assault.
The two fought faster and faster, their movements becoming a blur that made Lin Hai’s head spin.
To anyone else, Hu Lai would have looked like a lunatic, fighting wildly by himself.
But Peng Tao was different. He was convinced that Lin Hai must have used some great supernatural power to engage Hu Lai in this unseen battle.
His eyes flicked towards Lin Hai, and his reverence for the young man increased yet again.
“Princess Lin’er, what’s the situation?” Seeing that Chu Lin’er seemed to be fighting on par with Hu Lai, Lin Hai began to feel uneasy.
“He took a Berserker Pill,” Chu Lin’er’s voice transmitted to him. “It drastically increases his cultivation at the cost of temporary insanity. I’m no match for him in this state.”
Thud!
Lin Hai nearly fell flat on his backside.
“Wha-wha-what? You’re no match for him?” Lin Hai’s mind went blank.
Oh crap, I’m relying entirely on you here!
If you can’t handle him, doesn’t that mean I’m done for?
He was just about to speak when Chu Lin’er’s voice came again.
“Even though I’m not his match, he can’t stop me from leaving. By the way, I’m leaving in five minutes. I need to go and submit the Soul Reaper’s task, otherwise it will expire.”
“Wha-wha-what? Dammit, don’t leave! If you leave, what am I supposed to do?” Lin Hai panicked.
“What does that have to do with me? You have four minutes left.”
Thud!
Damn you to hell!
